Thread: [Bowman] [RED] Archer Skill Builds

  1. Default

I know the Jump update is still a while away, but there's not much of anything else to do. I've sort of mapped out the end results for MMs, at least for me. It pretty much comes down to preference and requires heaps of patience. Still pretty much a staple until 4th job... Sorry if they seem pretty bland.

Yes, i'm assuming there will be a percentual chance. I don't have any info to support or deny that assumption. But it seems reasonable to me for the more valuable books to be less common, never know with Nexon though.

Additionally, I think it's entirely possible for books that are in high demand or of high value, even if they are equally possible to obtain from mystery books, to be more expensive. Keeping mind Maple Warrior is a skill every class can get, that automatically makes them more valuable and in more demand, so I expect them to still be quite expensive.

  3. Default

    Nope. No percent chance.

Then supply and demand will dictate the price, which I still expect to be near exorbitant.

I am of the opinion that Mortal Blow sucks, especially so for Marksmen, and at least 16 Dragon Breath is an absolute necessity to be able to train well with Blizzard and Pierce.

  6. Default

The reason I prefer mortal blow over 16 into dragon breath is because I rarely to never use dragon breath, and it still doesn't work on bosses. Not sure if it'll change much after the jump update. Probably at some point, you'll one hit everything with pierce or with strafe/snipe/frostprey to finish off other mobs without needing blizzard or dragon breath for setup. Maybe it's just me though as I like to keep my passives.

Well, you could always take 5 points out of Blizzard to get level 16 Dragon Breath. Level 15 Blizzards still has a 3 second freezing effect, and I highly doubt people will use Blizzard for its damage after getting Piercing Arrow. Just another option to consider.

  8. Default

Then the same can be said for Mortal Blow; sooner or later, you'll be doing so much damage that Mortal Blow will never have an effect. And I feel that is always sooner than when you outlive the use of Dragon Breath.

  9. Default

I know it could be unreliable, but still useful whenever it activates. Mortal blow can activate whenever you do enough damage, and including killing the monster in one hit. Right now, I find it activating so much. The secondary effect of restoring 5% hp everytime it activates can be useful, so it still has uses, in my opinion at least

I can also find cases where max blizzard is useful. It's our only ranged mob splash attack that can bend.

Oh, well I guess that makes sense. I've never played a marksman, so I don't know too much about Blizzard's utility after acquiring Piercing Arrow, I just thought I'd provide an alternative to the ultimatum between Mortal Blow and Dragon Breath.

  11. Default

Choice is pomegranatety. If you're weak enough to let Mortal Blow play a factor, you are probably still using Dragon Breath.

I still think 16 is a minimum. Getting stragglers because Frostprey stops them from being pushed is painful enough, I would hate knowing that the one monster left in front of me could have been pushed if I spent the skill points. It's significant when using Blizzard because the monster in front tanks the entire AoE and everything pushed back doesn't get hit, and when using Pierce, it allows you to optimally use your time on six monsters. Mortal Blow is still a 4~5+HKO skill to make a difference. It can still activate if you 3HKO but you would have killed the monster even if it didn't activate. You just heal a bit of HP and MP now. It also appears to be 5% of your max HP/MP, which isn't exactly a lot for a Bowman. I would love to have both skills, but Nexon decided that Marksmen get the short end of the stick, both in maxing the skills and using them. How many HTK is Ultimate Strafe? Hurricane is ~4x that. Say you 3HKO with Ultimate Strafe. You would theoretically 12HKO. Mortal Blow would not affect Ultimate Strafe. 1 hit would bring them above 50%. Second hit would bring them within Mortal Blow range. 3rd hit would kill them. Hurricane on the other hand would have 3 or 4 hits that are within Mortal Blow range, allowing them to actually use Mortal Blow to kill something and spend the rest of the arrows on other monsters.

You have Frostprey listed in the 4th Job skills. So yeah.
Do marksmen get Adv Final Attack too?

Also I don't understand the appeal of Illusion Step. Does it get added before or after Maple Warrior? And isn't avoidability still sort of lol?

  13. Default

I'm guessing whatever skill that doesn't end up getting maxed, we'll end up relying on +skill hats and combat orders. Might be a stretch, but we'll see how it goes.

Oh you're right, oops. I fixed it. MMs don't get advanced final attack. From what spadow says, at max level it adds 40 dex and gives a 30% chance to avoid attacks for 240 seconds, so I figure that it'd add a little bit of damage and survivability.

  14. Default

It also stacks w/ Dodge's crits for 1 second thing, which makes it more valuable.

  15. Default

Lmao that got bumped to 3rd job.
    Nope.

Guess people are under the illusion that it's a great skill to have.

  16. Default

I think Spadow or someone else claimed it was changed from +avoid% to +dodge% in which case it adds survivability and a minor damage increase with critical.

Let's say you're contemplating Maple Warrior vs Illusion Step at ~170 (Hurricane, AFA, Expert, Spirit Link, SE done, few points splashed around other skills)

You would have at most 868 base DEX, which would mean MW 30 would give at most 130.2 DEX, compared to Illusion Step's 40 DEX. Is MW boosted stats affected by potential? In any case, the later game you are, the more important MW is since it gives stats depending on your base as opposed to Illusion Step's hard number. Unless MW isn't affected by potential and Illusion Step is, and you have 325%+, MW is better.

100% Critical Rate is a 1.15x increase in damage for a standard Archer. Assuming you get attacked ~40 times per minute, the dodge rate assuming it works like Fake now from Illusion Step alone would give you a theoretical 1.03x increase in damage (12 seconds of 60 are 100% critical, 48 seconds you do regular critical rate).

Maple Warrior should be better than Illusion Step.

  17. Default

For the sake of numbers, let's suppose you have 868 base DEX and 45% dex in potential, and around 134 total equipped dex.
    Stat = [(Base*MW)+Equips]*Potential.
Supposing illusion step is affected by potential (w/o MW):
    868+174 = 1042 * 1.45 = 1510 DEX.
    MW30:
    ((868*1.15)+134)= *1.45 = 1641 DEX

    coolio.
    for fun

I love the new skills coming in jump but this also presents a problem since we dont have any useless skills to dump >.>

for a BM build i think we need to cut 7 points, so at least 1 from MW29 and 4~5 from Heroes will = 5~6 still need to cut 1~2 and thats where i get hung up... there are no skills i want to cut from... the new puppet is shown to be great when bossing as its like another phoenix helping us out but i dont want cut those points from advanced inferno which as i see it is the least needed skill endgame wise

the rest of the skills other than puppet / advanced inferno are too important to cut from (unless im missing/overestimating something)

also does any1 have the jump skills and the stats at each level? I want to know if any of the 4th job ones like puppet / advanced inferno / illusion step gives a large initial boost for the first SP used

  19. Default

I'll be cutting straight from U.Inferno and maxing Will. Last couple points i'll but in U.Inferno since i'll have them.

    Skill stats per level.

EDIT: Is the damage boost from FA to AFA larger than the boost from Spirit Link? Trying to decide which skillbook i'll choose since i'm assuming I just get one.
