Wouldn't it be inertia that keeps us on the earth? We would certainly have momentum from the earth, but isn't it the whole 'object in motion stays in motion' idea that explains it. I'm not really too sure on that...

But I just assumed that whatever device you used to travel though time would have some sort of inertia/momentum canceling device should you want to stay in the same physical spot you started in (in a different time), otherwise you would have to be in a different spot. I guess it would have to be built to move things in the 3ed dimension, which I would find to be infinitely more practical that staying in the same spot.

I always figured that the tower coincided with a point in the heights of the trees of the forest.

I would go for that if Altair Camp appeared to be in the trees, but from all appearances wandering through there it's on solid ground.

Well, if the height was an issue, couldn't that part of the forest stretch a bit further north?
A slight change of elevation could change the situation. You also got the land masses that would appear later and eventually support the Eos and Helios towers of the Ludibrium kingdom.

Then again, it could be one of the many things that leave us with no idea how they could work.
The library's currently active section on Korean Folk Tales is an example of this.

You still have to deal with the fact that Helios Tower is like thousands of feet above ground level so if you respawned in the past at the exact same physical location you'd have quite a fall.

30 fall damage... no big deal.

wow, though. Who could Ridley be talking about? He seems to be recounting a tale that ends in tragedy... as emotional as he was when referring to the Headless Horseman. We know it can't be the Alchemist, because Ridley says they never met. It also isn't LeFay, as it's male. This person, whomever he is, is someone that hasn't been introduced yet. I also am reminded of the tale of Shammos from the 4th job quest for mages. The only thing that really would preclude it being Shammos is the fact that his story was under the guidance of grendel.

the other possibilty... Could it be the Black Magician? That's certainly a force to be mournful over releasing.

Naricain:
A demon of the darkness. He seems to have been human at one point, but was eventually corrupted to the point of losing all humanity. Naricain created the Dark Scrolls and is constantly in battle with Subani. We don't know much about them, but apparently they were worshiped in the Nihal Desert in olden times, and were opposing forces.

Much like Hobis, but corrupted in a bigger way, more like Zakum.

fighting alongside subani is something that we had speculated about before. It would definitely be unique.

The thing is, that Subani and Naricain, all signs indicate them having existed before Crimsonwood or anything. I mean, if their symbols are on the wall of a pyramid, that probably existed before Crimsonwood was established and at any rate, they certainly didn't have contact...

I'm pretty sure Subani sealed Naricain up, then he disappeared. But you never know with Masteria. XD Naricain might pop up as a boss sometime, like if somone broke the seal, though. You could summon him by breaking it, maybe! :P

Zakum's a tree, he's not really a person. :s

The black mage was an alchemist, so he may be "The Alchemist." That's why we think he might be the same person.

Also, Ridley said he never met the Alchemist.

Anyways, was "the Alchemist" taught at CWK (from what we know), or did he learn his alchemy from a faraway land? (Magatia?)

We know for a fact that he wasn't at Crimsonwood, as he was already at work before Ridley's time and the two of them never met. Since we still don't know exactly at what point in time Magatia was the seat of the Black Magician's power or when the whole Elin thing happened it's hard to say.
