I laughed when Yamada asked Souma to poke her. Can't wait for the next episode.

Honestly, Inami made the show for me. I watched the first episode, then the third since my friend was watching it at the time. I didn't really get interested. After watching the second ep with Inami, I was immediately hooked.

Gonna go watch Revival of Evangelion, since it seems like the best choice. If I'm wrong, I guess I could watch whatever I missed afterward.

EDIT: Well, can't find it anywhere. BACK TO DEATH AND EoE, THEN.

EDIT2: Didn't end up watching either due to slow loading. I'll try again tomorrow.

    EDIT3 (6/25): STILL CAN'T GET A WORKING DOWNLOAD/STREAM OF DEATH.

Just gonna go straight to End then. Not like I'll understand it much anyway. :|

Sup, Mirai Nikki Pilot Anime PV has just been released.

Ugh. I was pretty pumped about this, but sadly this promotional video has really let me down. What the hell's with Uryuu Minene? Compare:

As you can see, they made her eyebrows thicker for no reason, and they made her pupils much smaller. Not only does she look much better in the original, I'd say her original design works compliments her more as well. The author had a much nicer way of showing how completely insane she was. Her expressions got across this really warped form of excitement and enjoyment and added with having a much cuter character design to contrast that, it made her character seem more insane and fascinating as well as likable. Watching her during these particular chapters in the manga got pretty intense and absolutely thrilling. Plus, later on in the series, her design contributed perfectly to her tsundere moments and some of the sweet and heartwarming interactions she had.

Also, the 3D CGI sucks. It seemed like a convenient way for the animators to draw less, and I felt that it looked pretty stupid. I'm not sure if I liked 3D Deus or not either.

The music during the preview was garbage, and I hope that the actual soundtrack will sound much better.

On my only positive notes, Yukiteru looks a lot more awesome than in the manga. I can't wait to see him become Batman Yuki later in the series if they do get around to animating the rest when the manga's finished. As for Yuno, one of the best reasons to follow this series; she was just about kept the same. Thank God, I wouldn't want it any other way.

Also, who here's pumped for Durarara 24 and GRADUATION in Angel Beats 13?

Finished EoE; watched 1.11 on Blu-ray.

Both were pretty good. I'm exhausted though, so I almost fell asleep near the end of 1.11. Totally my fault though; I enjoyed the movie. They didn't make many changes, but the ones they did were interesting.

May or may not just download that BD rip of 2.22. I'm thinking that waiting for it to come out here and then watching it on our wide-screen would be a better choice. Or both, maybe.

EDIT: Also, yes, pumped for the end of AB.

It seems like a ton of you are into these two series. I should probably watch them after I finish with Brotherhood ( Yeah I got behind >: )

I saw this and thought it might be relavant:

3d Deus Ex was nice eye candy for me. It seems... appropriate in a way. Based off the PV, the only thing I might have a problem with is the extensive use of lighting. That made Angel Beats annoying to watch. It felt like the sun was flaring in your eyes even when you watch it at midnight:

I'll agree with the poor music though but hopefully that PV will be the last we'll hear of it. I'm eager to see how Mirai Nikki turns out.

My reaction towards Angel Beats overall:

Also looking forward to Arakawa Under the Bridge 12. On a side note, anyone remember about Bakemonogatari 15? Because I don't think Shaft remembers.

Yes, I do remember. I've been waiting and waiting and waiting. But, look what I just got from googling. By the way, do you mean Arakawa 13? Because 12 is out already.

Bakemonogatari 15 is streaming on their website right now, actually.

I did again this season what I'm prone to doing. Just stopped watching several shows. Not out of dislike, I rather liked them for the most part. I just stopped. Arakawa and Senkou no Night Raid in particular. I've got 3 or 4 unwatched episodes of each, I've watched 3 or 4 of each. I keep downloading new episodes on occasion... And then I don't watch the. XP And I never even got around to watching any House of Five Leaves, which I'd wanted to do. And I've got all the time in the world.

And why does that Anri cosplayer look like a man anytime they aren't right on the face?

    hm.

Angel Beats! was pretty good. I did enjoy it. It definitely had a lot of material, plenty worthy of at least a 26 episode series in some respects. I guess they decided that people wouldn't be interested in ten different sob stories about how the character that's graduating this week didn't live a fulfilling life. Probably the better of the choice, but the production schedule then limits them to only thirteen episodes since it would be too costly to stand in some middle ground for broadcasting issues. I think the ending was more well done than the rest of the show though. I think it did well in relating to the "villain" at the end too. Really should have had more tie ins with every other character though, especially Hinata and Yui. My God. Oh well. Definitely had a nice Key feel for emotions at the end, but Hinata's part could have been a lot more dramatic. Decent broment but honestly, Yui deserved more than one word and some luck. Should have said something like "there's someone waiting for me afterall", blah blah blah. Final scene after credits at least is <3 Hanazawa Kana <3

Same. I ended up watching only Maid-Sama and Angel Beats every week. Got like ~10 episodes to catch up on in a good number of shows.

Angel Beats 13: Damn. That was an... unexpected ending, but... it actually fit together. I wish they had cut the graduation part much shorter and expanded on that little scene at the end, with some explanation of the world itself, but... it was pretty good as is.

Also, Kanade's song. I guessed what was coming when they started singing, but it was still hilarious.

(Also, the final DVD/Blu-ray is having an extra "special" on it... Hopefully more of that last scene. PLEASE.

Imagine your face when I point out this as well: "My Soul, Your Beats".

Angel Beats 13 and Post-Series Thoughts:

I never knew Tenshi had expressions and a laugh like that in her. I really liked Naoi's disappearance, but I think Yuri and Hinata's weren't nearly as dramatic as they should have been. Tenshi's made my eyes water up a bit. The very end left me a bit confused, though. I don't really care much for arbitrary questions on how the world worked, but rather; a few things are quite unclear to me. Was Tenshi suggesting that she just entered the Afterlife world through a dream or in a coma just to be able to meet Otonashi, and her feelings were what caused him to leave limbo/heaven to lose his memory and go to the Afterlife world? And yeah, we're left wondering what the part after the credits meant.

I enjoyed this series, despite the fact it had so much working against it. Key took on some pretty heady concepts in this series that they were unable to flesh out in the story: like reincarnation, where they go after, and so forth. It's pretty clear they're some sophisticated ideas that Key could never hope to really answer, and it was clear that they felt oversimplifying them would take a toll in terms of how well the series would come out; but at the same time, leaving these concepts enigmatic made the series have limited options for where they could take it and how well we could understand it. As the series progressed, obvious plotholes were noticeable left and right. In addition, the series had this nasty quality of totally changing and turning the direction of where the story would go; and added with a 13-episode series, it left the story as rushed and the plot incoherent. Not to mention, as Butterfli said earlier, it was to the extent where a new "final boss" appeared out of the blue around the end of episode 10, and where we'd see a new character and the plot turning totally still around episode 12. But you know what? Despite all that, I enjoyed it. I really liked all of the characters, and I really wanted to see them get to the end. The series mostly revolved around character development, and I was able to still enjoy it despite the poor plot just because of the characters. Also, the music was pretty nice.

Overall, this was a fairly decent series, but it could have done much better with a 26 episode run.

Oh wow I never realized that's what Angel Beats really meant, same with the opening.

    Spoiler

I really liked it, even if the plot changed like 3-5 times. Although it could have been longer, I think it was good as it is.

Angel Beats 13 - I'm surprised some of you didn't catch on to the "gave me your heart" thing. I remembered him checking donor on his card right before he died. It was a perfect ending if you ask me. I loved every minute of this anime.

But the thing is he came after Kanade to the afterlife. So what does that mean?

  18. Default

He obviously died before Kanade in order to donate his heart yet she appeared in the afterlife first, yeah. It's one of those plot hole things that I just overlook.

I swear, interpreting and speculating about the ending of Angel Beats may as well been more entertaining than the series itself. I've seen some pretty wonky theories about what actually happened; including time moving circularly, a theory about Otonashi becoming the programmer or programmer 2.0, and so forth.

Actually, remind me again, but did Otonashi lose his memories at the moment he died; or when he was in the process of going to/in to heaven/limbo? I've seen one timeline that explained it that after Otonashi died, he went to limbo/heaven; then Kanade receives his heart, is able to live longer, and then finally dies. Then in terms of the Afterlife, Kanade arrived first; and then eventually, her regrets were able to drag him out of limbo/heaven; and then in the process of going to the Afterlife, he lost his memory.

Also, enjoy these while we're at it.

Durarara 24: Expect a second season, man. These were only the first three novels. Baccano did 5 novels in thirteen episodes. With the way things ended in that its left open for a new adventure and given how popular its been with Japanese viewers, I expect to see a second season. The anime introduced several minor characters who play a big role later in the story; it's not just that we didn't get to learn about some characters such as Simon and Dennis. For an example, in this last episode, Izaya mentions the Awakusu-kai when he gets the gun; and we've heard about them before in the episode with the reporter. Gonna avoid spoiling a more. Also, let's not forget we haven't heard the last of Nebula and Izaya.

Also, I did a marathon of Baccano recently; and Nebula was mentioned in episode 2 with something about the construction of the Flying platypusfoot. Watching that again so I can pull something more specific. One more thing: where can I find Crazy Eyes plantain Cheney in the commentary? I've heard that in the DVD Commentaries, they gave the old guys with Szilard names; and apparently, one of them looked like plantain Cheney with crazy eyes.
