Hehe, you haven't seen anything yet. Kuro's kissing spree has just started, and by the time its done many a loli will have lost their first. Ah, and the beach episode too.
Ironically, even though Ruby acts and speaks way lewder, Sapphire's costume choices are the lewdest, pointed out in 3

Once I finish a few more shows ill probably review week 2.

Girls und Panzer OVA: Holy pomegranate this was top notch. Carro Veloces were hilarious. The overall character development shown, plus the combat scenes were superb. I was expecting this to be great because it's Girls und Panzer, but the detail was incredible. The reloading duel was set up fantastically, especially showing Caesar's training earlier. Really can't wait to see how good the movie will turn out.

Akame ga Kill! 01~02: Seems pretty good so far. MC seems a bit pomegranatety as always, and he'll probably chicken out at some point. Expecting Akame's sister as final boss. etc.

Aldnoah.Zero 01~03: Muh racism. It was pretty expected that the assassination was an inside job. Was a bit surprised it was a double, and was expecting a different thing like super mars powers or whatever. I really wonder about the MC since he's so emotionless in the face of everything so far. inb4 he's Kirito from Mars. Also, Kalfina OP too strong. ED is nice too.
Episode 3 was super good actually. MC showed a bit more emotion, but no super OP power other than thinking well. Really good animation throughout both episodes, and strategy shown was really well plotted. Looking really forward to this.

Ao Haru Ride 01~02: Good so far. Fairly enjoyable. Pretty harsh intro episode with the love story being cut short like that.

    Barakamon 01~02: hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon: Crystal 01~02: For such a prestigious title, you wouldn't expect it to be the worst animated series of the season would you? Mercury's transformation scene was a bit better, but then this happened:
    Spoiler

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei 01~02: HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG 10/10 AOTY

Futsuu no Joshikosei ga [Locodol] Yatte Mita. 01~03: kawaii. Nanyako <3 I'd have thought I'd get tired of idol shows with so many each season, but nawp. Hope there's more of her friends and mascot girl in the future too.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun 01~02: Surprisingly funny. Sawashiro Miyuki's character is ridiculous. Pretty scary.

Glasslip 01~03: I can't say this is all too interesting at all. What does glass artisan have to do with this again? Seems like a lot of worthless drama for no reason.

Hanayamata 01~02: dat OP. Hopefully they can get a great scene like those in the actual show. YURI PLS? It's a cast of 5 and there's only 3 introduced now, will it be one episode each for the other two or is this going to take longer, because I don't think Yaya joined yet either...

Jinsei 01~02: Seems okay. Not really sure how to feel.

Majimoji Rurumo 01~02: I hope the teasing with Rurumo gets a bit more extreme. Especially with dat sister setting.

Momo Kyun Sword 01~02: I like Taketatsu Ayana and all, but this role just seems annoying. Also, pineappleing Momotarou.

Rail Wars! 01~02: Aoi is great. Seems like a good show so far, as ridiculous as their antics may be for train security. Interesting setting though. Mari's uniform was so...erotic for some reason. The tightness of her shirt? Hope she's in more episodes.

Re:_Hamatora 01~02: That was somewhat unexpected with Art being this "evil". Terrible first episode. Okay second episode. Probably going to sink horribly like season 1.

Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!? 01: Holy pomegranate that was a cluster pineapple. I was thinking 8/10 when it was just the ghost, then 7/10 with the witch. They kept coming and it kept getting more stereotypical harem animu.

Sabagebu! 01~02: It's better than C^3-bu, but that's not an accomplishment. The overall animation seems sloppy, and I feel there's nothing particularly detailed. Except them imagining blood.

Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance 01: Kirito pls

Sword Art Online II 02: Kirito pls
Sinon is fantastic. dat ass. dem shorts. dat rifle. hnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggg Sawashiro Miyuki. It's 24 episodes, I really hope it's not completely Phantom Bullet. pls Mother's Rosario. pls Early and Late.

Tokyo ESP 01~02: muh x-mens. Interesting first episode. Seems to be set at like episode 9~10ish? Was surprised by the Ga-rei cameo and had to check to confirm that the universes are completely different and it was only a cameo. Was actually expecting that team to die, yet again, would have been hilarious. Episode 2 was nice. Was hoping the thief would join them. sexy. The Night Walker teleport effect is done really well, i.e. identically to Night Walker's in X-men movies.

Tokyo Ghoul 01~03: MC can you be any more pomegranatety. Would you let a ghoul voiced by HanaKana eat you? I'm debating it. Touka is pretty nice too, Amamiya Sora is doing great so far. and Hinami. mmmmmmmmmmm the massive amount of death flagging Hinami did at the end of episode 3, is this going to break my heart?

Yama no Susume: Second Season 01: ENCOURAGEMENT OF CLIMB. Amazing show. It's actually astounding how much they can do with this setting and keep it interesting. If you haven't watched the first season, give it a shot. I believe it's a total of 35 minutes since it's 3 minute shorts. Plus an OVA.

Zankyou no Terror 01: Or is it Zankyou no FREEDOM FIGHTERS? I'm really just thinking this is pomegranatety.

    From last season:

Baby Steps 16: The animation is getting a bit sloppy, but the match is good. Missing a bit more detail compared to the last two though.

Haikyuu! 16: God damn, each episode really knows how to raise the tension and hype for the match or drama. I'm constantly astounded at how well they promote that sports atmosphere, especially with this one showing both scenes of their opponent, Tokonami, as well as the girl's team. Really hope we see them in the stands. All the girl players are just drawn really well, it's shocking since they're all minor characters that have only appeared twice. The chemistry shown between the two captains was actually disappointing because it's so unlikely there will ever be any romance shown in this series at all. But they look so great together. Must suck being a side character.

Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA ILLYA 1-2: Waited so long for this. Kuro is finally here. Next two episodes will probably have some strong yuri vibes if I remmeber the manga correctly. Can't wait till the beach episode. Kuro bought the lewdness of this show to a different level. I really hope they animate 3rie too, although I'm not looking forward to another 2 year wait. Definitely AOTS, if not AOTY. I'd provide prana for Kuro anyday. On another note, they really need to make a Kuro figure. Saw the bedsheet they released for her, and the latest volume special illustrations.... (The OP being half nude Kuro is somewhat off putting though. I wonder if they will remove the censors for the Bluray? Probably not).

The Irregular at Magic High School 16: So Onii-sama is basically some program-human-god hybrid. k. Still, the magic looks cool enough.

Sword Art Online II 1-3: Reading the LN really spoiled this one. First episode was pretty slow, and could probably be skipped if you read the LN. Second episode was pretty good. Really like how fierce they made Sinon look when she was chewing out the leader for giving up. Third episode was meh, more explanations. Necessary, but boring. But at least 4th episode will have trap Kirito, something to look forward too. (And probably a lot more Sinon fan service).

Aldnoah Zero 1-3: Seems very promising. First episode surprised me with the princesses' death, which turned out to be a fake. I kind of suspected it, but it still had me hooked. The post-credit scene for ep.3 was satisfying. Wonder what will happen now that the princess is back. The animation gave me Fate/Zero vibes.

Akame ga Kill! 1-3: Interesting, with enough plot and action per episode. Was not expecting the first episodes to be that gruesome, but its nice that its not all censored. Ep.3 has confirmed Mine as best girl. (then again, loli, tsundere, pink twintails usually means best girl). I want to know more about those ancient imperial weapon things.

GLASSLIP 1-3: Immediately tough of NagiAsu, and it looks to be by the same guys. They just replaced the whole water/land people thing with seeing into the future. More love dodecahedrons incoming. It does seem to be moving faster though, confession at only the second episode? Probably watch it when I have time, although I'm sure there will be cringe worthy misunderstandings that cause pointless drama

Rail Wars! 1-3: Tits, ass, and trains. ED is good. The premise is silly, but them I'm guessing most will watch for the plot and not the story.

DRAMAtical Murder 1: Seemed somewhat interesting, but for some reason I could just not get into it. I don't really like the character designs for the most part either. May come back to it later.

ARGEVOLLEN 1:Eh... looks like another mech show where the MC conveniently gets the best and OP mech. Dropped for now, especially since Aldnoah Zero seems to be doing mechs better this season.

Momo Kyun Sword 1:Bouncy tits and peaches. Eh... we got enought magical girl shows this season, probably going to leave it.

Magimoji Rurumo 1:Seems cute. The witch reminds me of a loli verson of Kagari from Witchcraft Works. Don't love the animation style, but I'll probably still watch it.

I need to get around to watching Tokyo Ghoul/ESP some time.
Saving Sailor Moon Crystal till later so I don't have to wait between episodes. I'm not really a fan of the new animation though. Seems to moe and shiny. They eyes are way too large too.

    @JoeTang; Excellent choice for AOTY.

I've just realized that the tokyo ghoul adaption seems to be trying to do 2 arcs at the same time and might actually be 1-cour.
Please no. Please no. Please no. Please no. Please no. Please no.
With how far they have shown that they're planning to go with this series(MC getting white hair happens very very far into the series) they need 2-cour or it'll be almost as rushed as TWGOK season 3.
Trying to cram 80 chapters into 12 episodes just doesn't work. Trying to cram multiple unrelated arcs together wont work either without changing the story a lot or cutting a lot of the smaller but still important events.

Has anyone found any information regarding if it's 1 or 2-cour? I haven't seen anything official regarding how many episodes they're planning.

This was something i was looking forward to a lot, the censoring i can handle because i don't care too much about the gore, but this might just ruin the adaption entirely for me.

  9. Default Re: Currently Airing Anime

Christ the tokyo ghoul adaption is completely pomegranateting the bed, changing multiple things and skipping entire arcs for no apparent reason. Seems it really is 1-cour and they'll be rushing through everything super fast even though they'd need 2-cour to properly adapt up until the arc they're hinting at in the preview/OP.

Jesus christ i'm already considering dropping it and i even like the source material.
Then again that might be just why i'm disliking it, because i was expecting to see the manga animated and they're just taking an approach people unfamiliar with the manga will prefer. I don't know.

    But i'll keep watching for

  18. Default Re: Currently Airing Anime

So I had a list of around 20 anime, and I watched most of them. Dropped many after one episode and maybe a few more for those that had one or two promising elements but ultimately disappointed.

This is what I ended up with:

    - Aldnoah.Zero
    - Barakamon
    - Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 2wei!
    - Sword Art Online II
    - Tokyo Ghoul
    - Zankyou no Terror

I'm not saying these are especially good by any means, but I'd find it hard to be bored by them. As bad as SAO's reputation is, SAO II is not horrible for a sequel anime of 24 episodes. If it weren't SAO and/or a sequel, then I probably won't still be watching it. As for 2wei!, I don't feel like the show takes itself so seriously anyway even if it does/will have some serious themes (not that I would know), so I wouldn't take it seriously either. It's a fanservice spin-off parody with lovely art and animations. That is good enough for me.

So if I ignore the anime that I'm just watching for their hype(?), that would leave me with Aldnoah.Zero, Barakamon, Tokyo Ghoul and Zankyou no Terror. Actually, screw that; it's quite obvious that I'm still watching Aldnoah.Zero because of its hype. Not enough has happened for me to call it good yet, and while quite a few things show a bit of promise here and there, it's really hard to not be afraid of Inaho ruining the show. I can't really judge at this point, though.

Edit: Okay, having watched episode 5 where even in-universe characters comment on Inaho's competence, I think it's safe to say he is this way for a reason. And Slaine makes for a good contrast/foil (even indicated in the opening?). Though it's not so much that Inaho is hyper-competent than the rest being complete incompetent fools, so there's still that to complain about. I liked how Slaine's actions backfired on him this episode, got me all interested again. Glad Vlad is gone for good, don't want to see another him vs Inaho. And Marito is still failing to get me interested in his backstory.

I didn't know that Tokyo Ghoul was skipping content, but since it was skipping and not rushing through content (allegedly, anyway...), I didn't feel it being rushed or anything. Regardless, I do like this anime the least out of all that I'm watching right now. Episode one, I enjoyed, but I was afraid Kaneki would get annoying and he did (though it's only a small part of why episodes 2 onwards didn't impress me as much as I would have liked them to). If we are approaching the end of the Gourmet arc then it is most definitely rushed, be it this way in the manga as well or not. I don't really care about Touka or anybody else really. I'm more interested in Hide and Rize, if she has anything more to offer.

Zankyou no Terror, I do not have much of a problem with. It is interesting, the writers have shown their work, and some characters are being set up for development (mainly Twelve, Shibazaki and Hamura, who is a little annoying though it's not unjustifiable), with some possible backstory for Nine and Lisa will have to make some decisions in the future for sure. The incompetence of the police is disappointing, but expected. I've heard some people disliking Shibazaki's ability, but so far I see no problem with it. My only complaint is that I'm a little confused on what Twelve is supposed to be. When he first appears, he saves Lisa from bullying, so I go ahead and think "Oh, what a nice guy." Of course, he has that smile thing going on. So far I thought it was only his personality, but then later he tells Lisa that he would kill her if she does something, all the while smiling like he always has. Then I notice in the opening that he smiles quite maliciously in that scene where the frame of his face multiplies by nine. So I start to feel that he's actually quite evil, and so is his smile. But then in the latest episode he finally drops his smile while obsessing over Lisa. And when they speak to each other in the motorcycle scene, he cracks up a smile again. And I'm sure that one was sincere. So I don't get it; are his smiles supposed to be sincere or not? There is the possibility of that last smile being his only sincere one ever, with all his previous "fake" smiles supposed to lead up to this, but I somehow just doubt that (especially since it's still quite early in the show). I really don't know.

As for Barakamon, I really have no complaints. I don't think I enjoy it the most or get most excited about it out of these anime, but only because it isn't really my genre. It is funny and tries to integrate life lessons through the SoL shenanigans and then also applying it to the MC's calligraphy (of course it's not such a strict formula and it works in other directions too). It could be better if they melded the SoL and calligraphy parts together even more, because at times it does feel segmented, but the way it's doing it now is nowhere near bad.

    Haven't dropped anything yet =]

Tokyo Ghoul 05: This episode really put this show into the region of bad. It seems like there's something missing. MC is worthless still, and literally proves he's fodder by showing the only thing he's worth is fuel for Touka. I also hate Miyano Mamoru's voice under the vast majority of circumstances, and having him stroke his boner while smelling Kaneki's blood stained panties hankerchief doesn't help.

Rail Wars! 04~05: I am really liking the PLOT in this one. Though I think the waists are drawn a bit thin. Actually, episode 4 was really well done with not just a beach swimsuit episode, but idol + insert song.

Aldnoah Zero 05: I think this episode slowed it down quite a bit from the last one. Inaho is showing he's too OP too fast now. It's one thing to have a theoretical understanding of how to pomegranatekick a robot, but to do it in practice like he did, three times? Meanwhile, the rest of humanity is being stepped on. Was expecting an "I don't care" line after Slaine talked to Mr Mars.

Sailor Derp Crystal 03: Speaking of Mars

I thought they might polish some of this pomegranate going forward, but Mercury still had the same derpy pose after her transformation too.
    Spoiler

Watch this intense action scene, frame by frame! (technically it's every 3 frames, the image changes)

Sword Art Online II 05: I was really annoyed by Kirito's girl voice. Thank god that's over with? I think the laser scenes are done a bit dumb. It just looks awful how they connect with the avatar, and how they're shot out. It's absolutely bullpomegranate how he deflects bullets, but it does look well done when it isn't slow motion. I didn't like the intro part of Phantom Bullet that much, but I remember enjoying the latter parts more.
