Definitely glad I semi-quit this game for school.
best friend's vindictus account was breached.
and he's more security paranoid than I am, and his ID wasn't even on ANY list.
Just came back to the game after like a month or so of not playing it. I also got hacked, didn't lost much since I barely had much stuff in my account, but I mostly gonna miss both my evolving rings and that chaos'd belt I had.
I probably lost scrolls of several types and some other assorted stuff. I just logged a ticked with Nexon but I can't see it being resolved in a satisfactory way.
Well i logged on and saw that my mage overall is missing along with 100mill...
And now i dont have money to buy stuff... :\
seems to be a huge security leak like the former "Acura Cheap" phase :s
And the worst thing is that we cant do anything about it... ><
Nor can Nexon, if they don't even know where the issue comes from.
And since nobody will probably ever tell them, it's hard to think that they'll ever find out themselves, knowing their level of competence.
So yeah. There won't probably be an end to hackings. Not anytime soon probably. Just lock your account every time you're not on, and you should be okay, like me.
Really? How do you lock your account?
My method is to stay logged-in 24/7. Although that's getting increasingly hard without actually being at-keyboard 24/7, due to Nexon's marvelous server stability.
I've pretty much resigned myself to eventually getting hacked. Locked my more valuable gear, scattered meso, backup gear, and unlockable valuables (books, scrolls, apples, etc) among various accounts to minimize damage, and am keeping only minimal NX on the account (will charge a card only when I'm about to use that NX).
Rather depressing to know this "wave" will stay with us for a long, long time.

The link has been posted many times in this thread.
Even though it shows an error after you hit change password. it has changed the password
I don't think the 'Fort Knox' method is what they are referring to when some speak of locking their accounts. That method is now just a way to make super-strong passwords, not an account lock. They may have something else going on - perhaps a way of glitching the account such that only a password reset to the email will fix it. Whatever it is, no one ever elaborates.
If you read the first paragraph of that thread it is exactly what you just described and declared it isn't;
Maybe they don't know that it doesn't work any more, although the last assertion in the thread is that it doesAfter running into a little bump on the road, I've thought up of a way to "lock" your account. That is, this method makes it so that nobody can go onto your account, provided they don't have access your username, birthday, and email account. If someone knows all of that information about you, then you're pretty much screwed hard.![]()
But if you read the last few posts from the threadstarter, you see it isn't a lock any more:
Wait, is this showing me that the Nexon site accepts passwords with special characters in them now?If that's the case, then Nexon effectively broke my lock. The passwords themselves still make for strong passwords though (as long as you don't rely on it too much and make a password like "h㊥tdog" or something).
Still doesn't preclude my assertion that they might now know it.
I know about that method.
What I meant to point out, however, is that if the hackers happen to be using a bypass that makes it unnecessary for them to crack or type in the password, that lock is utterly useless. The door to Fort Knox is unbreakable, but the window is wide open.
How sad is it that people think there's a bypass for passwords lol
I haven't seen any signs that I've been hacked, regardless of the length of password on my account. (main + primary mule both have more than 10 characters, but I do have quite a few accounts I use semi-regularly)
Then again, my least secure account has maybe 600k on it, so maybe cracking its 7 character password wasn't deemed worthwhile. I don't know how they sort out good accounts from worthless ones.
