I'm sure there's a few people who would genuinely enjoy the old school Maple, because there were people who got Lv.200 and enjoyed the entire grindfest that it was back then.
However, I do not think that 99% of the people who complain about current Maple, say old Maple was better, and cry for this Pre-BB Server would really play it after the initial thrill wore off. You'll get a few, but not enough to warrant the creation of the server in the long run.
Sure, some people genuinely miss it, but I doubt most of them remember truthfully how bad it was. Most of the arguments towards it are about PQs, which only take you so far and after a certain amount of playing them they get boring again. Above that the current PQs aren't even that bad, and if they put a little effort into building a party they would have the same thing they complain about the game missing now(making friends and all that jazz). The only real difference between old PQs and new PQs in terms of community and all that, is that the new PQs are not required, while the old ones definitely were if you valued your sanity.
I really doubt a "Rewind" Server would be decently populated for much more than a couple weeks, a month at the most, which is why I'm sure Nexon will never do it.
Pretty much the only reason I have faith in MapleStory 2 is because of their ability to restart and get away from the massive gameplay failure that was Potential, without causing the massive uproar that removing it in MapleStory 1 would cause.
Even if they made a Pre-BB/No-Potential server for GMS, I don't think it would really do much. People say they want it, but I would be surprised if more than 10% of those people actually meant it, and would actually play a server without their broken gear for a prolonged period of time. It's just too ingrained into the game's society at this point. People talk big, but don't follow through. Just look at how many people have sworn off Cubes, then later complained that their Cubing went badly. It's all talk.
