I guess i'll finally get to see my friends from the eastern servers. Though as my friend told me this:

'Excited about it because I get to see new faces and reunite with other friends. But I hate it because it is a clear indication that the game community is dying and is on its last leg due to Nexon's incompetence and overly strung-out filler updates milking cash.'

Kind of have to agree in someways considering im pretty sure everyone is waiting for the level cap to finally be raised with newer dungeons.

I'm interested in trying out Dragon Nest. What would be a DN South Perry equivalent site for reading up on skill builds, class differences (There's two paths for each advancement from what I can tell.), and such?

  3. Default Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread

    There's nothing really.

The English DN community has never been organized as far as information goes; not even those who play in foreign servers. You would have to search a few different sites to compare builds and information. MMOSite's DN forums, the official forums, etc are places you could try checking out, but again, you aren't going to find everything neatly listed in any one location.

Yeah, for the most part, we'd have to explain everything ourselves. The more organized English DN communities died out earlier in the year. As in, the sites are completely gone.

On top of that, there was a major skill revamp recently known as T4, and there's no english skill simulator for that. (DN's updating rate is rather mixed. We tend to get updates such as skill tweaks within 2-3 months of them being made in the Korean version, even if they weren't made with our current level cap in mind. Hell, just about all of the content we got in our latest patch was made with 50 cap in mind, while we are still at the level 40 cap.)

These are the classes. I'll explain the basic class, but if you want to hear more about the second and third specialization classes, ask. I've played every class but two (Paladin and Swordsman) up to Level 40.

Be aware that there is a gender lock. This game treats the various classes as actual characters, rather than something generic.
    - Male: Cleric and Warrior
    - Female: Archer, Sorceress, and Tinkerer

    ---

Archer: Archers as a whole have low HP, but more skills that grant them invincibility frames than any other class. They have great single-target DPS, with a naturally high critical hit rate. Their standard 'wake-up' skill (get up when grounded) also grants the longest invincibility frames of all the classes.
    - Sharpshooter (ranged Longbow/Crossbow) -> Sniper (physical) or Artillery (magical)
    - Acrobat (melee Shortbow) -> Tempest (raw damage) or Wind Walker (mobility)

Cleric: Clerics have the highest HP and defenses in the game (in a game where defense actually matters), but they lack a 'Power Tumble' skill to help them escape knockdown -> ground combos once they are forced into one, but they have the ability to block attacks at the cost of interrupting whatever they're doing. Their DPS is also typically the lowest of all classes, but they are the most reliable healers and tankers.
    - Paladin (balanced Mace/Flail) -> Crusader (magical DPS) or Guadian (physical tanking)
    - Priest (magic Wand) -> Inquisitor (lightning DPS) or Saint (relic/buff support)

Sorceress: Sorceresses are great crowd-clearers, and offer amazing offensive support through inflicting a wide variety of status effects (in a game where status effects and debuffs work on almost everything in the game, along with effects stacking with each other). Their HP and defenses are comparable to that of Archers, but have far higher MP. They have three different off-hand weapons (Grimoire, Orb, Puppet), but they don't affect anything other than their left-click attack.
    - Elementalist (fire/ice magic) -> Saleana/Pyromancer (Fire DPS) or Elestra/Ice Witch (Ice crowd control)
    - Mystic (dark gravity/laser magic) -> Majesty/Chaos Mage (Dark crowd control) or Smasher/War Mage (neutral DPS/support)

Warriors: Warriors have the second highest HP and defenses in the game, but the lowest MP. They are the most mobile class in the game, with the ability to dash across the battlefield at double speed (although they can only use a few attacks while dashing). They have the easiest time interrupting enemy attacks, and they have several support debuffs and buffs as well. Like Clerics though, they lack a 'power tumble' skill, but their skills have naturally high Super Armor (not being interrupted while attacking).
    - Swordsman (greatsword) -> Gladiator (physical close combat) or Moon Lord/Lunar Knight (magical AoE)
    - Mercenary (axe/hammer) -> Barbarian (multi-hit DPS/debuff) or Destroyer (single-hit interruption/buff)

Academic/Tinkerer: Tinkerers are a newer class, and a bit of an odd one. They are the only female class without a 'Power Tumble' skill, but their basic evasion skill gives them further distance compared to the others. Their HP and defenses are comparable to that of a Sorceress. Offensively, they're sort of a jack of all trades with a ton of summons (if Engineer) or massive AoEs (if Alchemist) thrown in the mix, along with several skills to trip up opponents.
    - Engineer (physical Cannon) -> Shooting Star (direct cannon skills) or Gear Master (robotic summoner)
    - Alchemist (magical Bubble Blaster) -> Adept (fire/ice DPS) or Physician (dark/light support)

Be aware that the Tinkerer's story assumes that you've played one of the other four characters up to the end of the Level 40 main quests. Her story can spoil what happens to the others towards their Level 38-40 main quest as early as around level 25. If you're the type of person that cares about the story, the Tinkerer should not be your first character.

(I wouldn't advise having the Tinkerer as your first character regardless. Their fighting style and skill design is nothing like the other classes, and they can die very, very easily.)

    ---

Second specialization can be accessed at Level 15, and the decision is permanent. Third specialization is accessed at Level 45, and the decision can be changed through the use of an NX job change scroll, but second specialization content isn't available in our version yet, since our current level cap is 40.

Leveling is very, very fast in this game, so don't feel as if you only have to pick one. Questing gives the most EXP in this game. Quest when you can, because questing is now far faster than straight-up dungeon grinding, and the writing in this game is something amazing anyways.

(I made a Priest in the East servers about 5 days ago, and he's already Level 39... I only have to dungeon like 2-3 times in order to level up now, compared to pre-patch 6-9+ times.)

So I just logged on today for the skill update (because I'm a Slowpoke like that) to find that I'm stuck on my mount. My hotkeys were reset and I cannot find my mount in the Mount & Pets tab (I has the permanent fire horse). :(

EDIT: Nevermind, found it. o.O Anyways, I've been out of the loop since the Manticore/Apocalypse patch. Has farming for resources gotten less grindy?

Farming for materials to make nest pieces has become far, FAR less grindy. You're pretty much guaranteed two blue mats at the end chest of every normal mode nest now. The chance that you could outright get a nest equip set piece from a gold chest at the results screen seems to have been boosted way up too, along with said gold chests handing out epic sparks as well. In West, each blue mat is only worth like 50-150 gold now, compared to 300+ about three months ago.

Unfortunately, with the new Hybrid FTG system, grinding for stuff like Average Onyx pretty much requires that you have PWR now. Drop rates fall to 20% of what they originally were if you have no PWR. Fortunately, you only consume about 30 PWR per dungeon run if your character is Level 1-39, but PWR consumption rate is back to normal at Level 40. It's likely that PWR consumption rate will be reduced from 1-49 once Level 50 cap is out.

EDIT: I just found out that as of the latest patch, Nexon reinstated crude approval stamps being able to unbind level 32 and below skill plates. That's why skill plate prices have been dropping like a rock. (Incidentally, crude approval stamps work on horse badges as well. If you are lucky enough to have one drop in a Hell mode nest.)

Sell it on MP for a price so high that no one else will grab it, have your Engineer buy it, go back on your SM and mail the money back to your Engineer afterwards. :D

If only...I only have 200g across my entire account at this time. I put it up for 600g and if it sells soon, I may be able to grab one for cheaper as prices plummet with all these eggs that were handed out. Otherwise, it's just 600g in my pocket.

Seems Acrobats can still fight fairly well.

I'm not sure if you guys have noticed, but the PvP server lag in NA has gotten really bad ever since about 4 months ago. Even worse after the merge. It's not an issue of ghosting, but rather people having unusually high amounts of super armor when they're not supposed to. Some people even outright abuse the mysterious basic dodge SA to escape being staggered or lifted by an enemy skill.

It's so bad that I've pretty much quit PvP on my Priest this past week, since Priests have very limited ways to combo and score knockdowns, not to mention our low mobility and the least amount of evasions in the game making us vulnerable to being stuck in an extended combo ourselves.

    I feel so derp.

I started playing my Lv32 Paladin and really disliked it in T4, so I deleted him. I waited the full week for deletion just to realize I really wanted a Paladin after all, so had to remake it. Derrrrrrrrrrrp.

Oh, uh... There's anniversary events going on right now. Pretty good rewards from the farm category, although in order to get to fishing level 2, you'd have to fish for a total of 18 or so hours.

(For cooking, you'd just need to cook 7 or 8 broths, or 4 food dishes. For Lv. 7 farming, you'd just need to plant 2 Golden Apple seeds - key word being plant, they don't need to survive until fruiting.)

    http://dragonnest.nexon.net/1-year-anniversary

Also, a developer posted something on the forums hinting that we're probably getting 50 cap for our Halloween patch. The question now is, when is the Halloween patch?

    http://dragonnest.nexon.net/communit...ar%26nxid%3D62

(It's either Sept. 26th, which is around the actual anniversary, or October 17th, as that's when the anniversary events end.)

EDIT: The mysterious anniversary login event was supposed to start today, but apparently it's being postponed until the 'next content update'.

Levelling is so retarded now that I just capped the character I mentioned a bit ago after the exp/quest reworks without doing any more than 2 level 32+ dungeon runs. I do every quest for a dungeon before moving on to the next, so the entirety of 32-40 was spent at 24-31 dungeons doing quests except for 2 runs of Desolation Point because I forgot I still had quests. This includes the actual storyline quests.

Was able to sell my agi ring for 615g give or take 10 and bought another for 600. Just 1 more.

Just beat Manticore's Nest for the first time today. I feel like an idiot because I now know how easy it is to just join a party of four and faceroll the place. I guess now that I know we may get the 50 cap soon, i'm getting more excited for the new subclasses rather than the current content.

  19. Default Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread

Yeah, I usually just open up the Party Search window and join something real quick and stomp him down. It's only Apocalypse Nest randoms have a higher chance at dying in, but even then it's usually not more than one death.

I can't wait for subclasses either, especially now in T4 when Swordsmen were given a real difference in playstyles. Before the revamp they were virtually the same except their subclass skills, but now we're encouraged to not really be hybrid as much or at all for some. I'm jizzing the moment I leap into the air and send razor wind down on everything.

That's the only way I nest on my engineer. I don't survive as well as I used to before T4 though. I used to solo manti with relatively few issues but now it's a pain and I die every run a least once, so party search it is. I don't even want to try apoc, it's hard enough now in a group of 4 so solo would be scary. I just need to get off my ass and finish enhancing my apoc set I guess. It's up to everything crafted and +6. Just hiddens and he dreaded 7-10 enhancing to go.

The character I just capped was a swordsman who I made into a hybrid and I'll be damned if he had counter cross, parry stance, counter wave, or counterslash. His skills are all over the place but whatever. Made him mostly for the capped chars bonus (up to 4 now). Made an alchemist last night and am going to have it be my 5th capped character. Gonna be another fun run of rolling everything on abyss.
