    expanding on this:

teammates who dont listen when you give good advice
"hey voli you have 3 mogs... build an armor item" /builds 4th mogs
(aram where enemy team is draven, ad ez, taric, urgot, tanky dps nasus)
tbh i kept saying "build a thornmail build a thornmail" and people dont realize that when youre a sack of hp for enemy autoattackers and youre on a team of tanks, a TANK will be focused no matter what so you might as well have everyone build tanky dps + thornmail so you outlast the dumb opponents who dont build last whisper and mr

but no... 4 mogs + tabi too funny to lose with instead of winning with 3 mogs + thornmail + tabi

so yes, there is a pineappleing right time to build thornmail. when your team has 2 fh and 1 randuin already and you have 5k hp.

Had a Darius that dc'd for the first 5 minutes of a game, got into lane late and fed Akali due to being underleveled/not staying safe as a result. Darius continued to berate our Shyvana, who was generally making plays and helping the lanes that actually had a chance (what a jungler should do in that situation) rather than babysitting him. I crushed Annie in mid as Malzahar (by the end of laning I had something like a 75 CS and 1 kill lead on her (she got 1 kill by ganking bot with Tibbers stun). However, fed Akali kept snowballing/catching people on their own.

What started as an early lead with 2 dragons and a lead in kills became a defeat as Darius kept getting killed when he chased people stupidly, leaving the rest of us to fight a 4v5. Ashe arrowed someone at their turret instead of waiting for them to be farther away during a 5v5 poke fest, giving the enemy the chance to counter engage and kill us all.

Enemy team won. 3/2 now for Ranked W/L.

    -Side note-
Malefic Visions on Tibbers causing it to die just after it teleported back to Annie's location, thus bouncing MV onto Annie for 1/4 of her health, was funny as hell.

ARAM and Dominion have so much potential..... shame that Riot only focuses on Classic because they're idiots.

Or maybe because it's the most popular mode and the one that brings the most amount of people.

Releasing any other map is pointless (Twisted Treeline included) if you're not going to dedicate time to making it worthwhile. Some of the reason people don't play Dominion is because of how horribly imbalanced it is. ARAM only needs some minor tweaks (make it out of a pool of specific champions so everyone is on equal footing, increase passive EXP gain/decrease kill EXP gain to allow for comebacks, open surrender at like 10 minutes in, make it less completely random (i.e., an enemy team can't be like Alistar, Blitzcrank, Orianna, Ryze, Karthus (meaning a pretty good ARAM team comp, even if they all are AP), to name a few).

But seriously, releasing any more maps if they're not going to take time to adjust things or at least try to, makes it pointless to even have more than one map.

When Riot released TT, they were still newbies. TT was supposed to be designed to be a smaller, faster map with wild encounters and plays. Obviously some champs were better in TT than others. They tried to take the easy way out on balancing champions on both maps by manipulating the map itself. Most notably, these were the neutral buffs and the minions.

One of the main problems that persisted was that since LoL was previously balanced around SR, a real tank champion will be able to withstand punishment from 5 enemy team members for some amount of time. Tanks in TT will get roughly the same amount of gold, and will still get tanky items, but there will only ever be 3 enemy champions to try and take him out.

So when they designed Dominion, they opted to keep the team member count as 5. They also tried to achieve balance by introducing items and using map elements/aura. This time, they are moderately successful, although edge cases will be OP/UP. Dominion was also designed to have radically different elements to it that offers an entirely different experience to SR. The most noticeable one is that games end much faster, while allowing you to participate in action much more often. Arguably, the different experience will attract its own set of players.

Dominion, unlike TT, is in a much more playable state and has much more replay value due to a much wider pool of champions that are viable on some level. However, unless the developers give the different map modes the amount of care and attention that SR gets, they won't be as popular as SR. And supposedly Dom is newer than TT, so it will take time for the competitive scene to grow. Riot is aggressively expanding their employee base so they can get things done faster in parallel, but they simply don't have the resources to take on a larger load, such as balancing champions by tweaking their instance values dependent on the mode type.

SR has had its own share of glitches and exploits though. For example, Blitzcrank could pull dragon and blue team would be able to "snipe" it for global gold. That wasn't fair for purple team. Jungle buffs were also providing too much to the team that controlled them. They're a major factor into why M5 was destroying everyone, since controlling the jungle was their specialty.

But ultimately Riot does this stuff in the name of providing fun value. ARAM is hardly balanced, and there's no matchmaking, but people play it anyways.

Kind of the "once-in-the-lifetime", very rare moment that you described there (and I've seen it a few times, mostly through gameplay videos). But yes, getting Annie infected through an infected (and dead) Tibbers is bloody funny as hell. xD

Same thing with Zilean time bombs on Malz minions - the opportunities don't come up often, but exploiting that leash can have hilarious results.

It's also fun to place E on an enemy, then have someone like Tristana or Lee Sin shove them back to the rest of their team.

I understand that the modes provide a different experience, however leaving them unbalanced greatly changes the experience and can eventually turn players away from them. Even the changes I proposed for ARAM would have no impact on other modes, nor do I believe that they would be that hard to implement.

  13. Default Re: The LoL Rage Thread

    @your suggested changes:
anything less than completely random defeats the purpose...

in fact, i think that if they do make a queue for it, they should have all champs free in it, solving the problem of not being able to trade and equalizing the footing (so that random person doesnt make a smurf, buy blitz naut nid lux ziggs sona soraka taric ezreal & 3 other ad carries and suddenly has a like 60% chance of getting a champ thatll singlehandedly win the game against at least 50% of team comps)

  14. Default Re: The LoL Rage Thread

Purpose of ARAM is to have a "more fun" (I say more because I know someone's going to be a smart-ass and say League is ALWAYS supposed to be fun) and "less srsbsns" mode. It's virtually impossible to have fun on ARAM when the enemy team comp is made up of champions you mentioned, that is coming from experience. I've played plenty of ARAMs where it's not even fun because your team got "out-randomed." Hence why I support having those champions blocked (especially Blitz, but that's because I hate that plum anyways) or having it semi-random where your team cannot have, for example, two long range AP pokes or two grabs. It would still be completely random; you could still end up with a 5 carries (carries are less of a problem since HP stacking exists. If you feed, well that's your problem.) or 5 "regular" AP champs, but you would not be able to have more than one of certain categories (characters with multi-target heals, long range pokers, grabs are the big three in my book).

I'd be completely fine with having every champion available. I personally think that should already be in place so teams aren't inherently imbalanced based on the number of champions your teammates own.

You make it sound like you're always on the negative side of a team comp. I assume your team is always bad in ranked too and never has competent people either. ARAM is supposed to be fun and not really be taken too seriously. Sure the enemy team comp might be rigged against you but that happens to your side as well sometimes since it's all random.

As far as all champs unlocked for it, I see that bad as well as people will have no idea what to do if they get some random champ they've never played a single time e.g. Sejuani, karma, zilean, trundle, etc

The thing that upsets me more than anything is ARAM stands for "All random all mid", not "I don't like my team comp, my champion, or the enemy team comp, so I'm going to dodge and rejoin until I get a team comp, champion, or enemy team comp that I like"

I'm not always on the "losing" team comp. Ironically, the game immediately after I made my previous post I had gotten Lux and basically stomped the enemy team (though me being Lux wasn't the sole reason we won, they had some pretty crappy players). But if I'm not having fun, and I'm an optimistic player to the max, I can't imagine any one else (on the losing side) is having fun. No one wants to sit around for 15+ minutes getting their asses handed to them.

That still happens anyways? I still play plenty of games with people who get like champion x and then start sobbing with champion x.

As I said earlier, no one wants to sit around for 10-20 minutes getting completely wrecked. I think it's annoying too, but it's not like I'm sitting there confused as to why they would queue hop. And since there's no matchmaking anyways, for all you know you could already be set up for a loss since you're against 2k ELO players.

  17. Default Re: The LoL Rage Thread

About half of the people who play ranked everyday in the "elo hell" range put up with a lot of crap and probably aren't having fun like that. Yet they continue to play ranked and that's averaging 40 minutes instead of 15-20 like ARAM.

Maybe I'm just more chill. If the enemy team was lux, nidalee, caitlyn, vladimir, and leblanc, I would still have fun. That's also probably because 99% of the ARAM games I play are with friends and if I'd rather lose with friends than win with arrogant whiny 12 year olds.

  18. Default Re: The LoL Rage Thread

I understand this as well. I've lost love for Ranked and only play with friends or go play ARAM with randoms. More fun, less anger.

  19. Default Re: The LoL Rage Thread

its a good point, but it happens anyways with the free champs. especially when you have (a) teammate(s) with < 200 normal wins, because (assuming they arent a smurf and/or havent bought much rp) they just dont have the champ pool and mechanical experience you can expect from 500++ normals... and they have a relatively high chance of randoming something they cant play anyways.

allowing all champs to be unlocked eliminates owned champion stacking, gives newer players an opportunity to just try all champs instead of needing to wait for certain free champs for 15 rotations (AND allows them to always be able to ask a teammate to swap, which can be HUGE because a lot of players dont diversify their competent roles/champs until way later), and adds a further degree of separation for skill (in that knowing how to play AS _____ in arams gives you as much advantage as knowing how to play AGAINST ____ in normals)

idk, i buy champs now based on how they do in arams over buying them cuz i want them. i have all the champs i want... all the ranged ad and select few others that all have a feel or sci fi theme. i have anivia for aram. zyra. galio. my next will be jayce. oughta get naut some time. i know how to play against every champ in a team fight, and how to lane against probably 90-99%. i know how to build almost all of them, and primary damage sources for everyone (to build against them). but i dont really want to master new champs in serious games and sacrifice several semi-serious games for learning when i could instead have fun doing it in arams. but thats just me.

if they were all free id be focusing on rune pages instead which is arguably more important now anyways since i have all the champs i want for normals.

  20. Default Re: The LoL Rage Thread

Well a big drawback for all free champs in riot's eyes is money, so don't ever expect it to happen. Whenever there's free week champs I've never played, I take them into a custom game with a guide and play them so I can learn their mechanics, playstyle, etc. Helps a lot for SR and ARAM.

And if people really champ stack just for ARAM and only buy OP champs for it e.g. Lux, nidalee, leblanc, etc, that's just sad. I throw them in the same boat of people who rage hard in ARAM and are being super try hard. The other day there was a level 24 playing shaco (non-free week, but he didn't know how to play him still) and a GP with 600+ wins who kept raging at the kid for costing us the game. Funny thing is the GP wasn't even that good as he built tanky, but the wrong items. Built a thornmail when the enemy was 4 tanks, almost no AAers to capitalize on it, and they were AP. He just kept building armor and raged hardcore at the shaco for being bad (granted he was bad, built a PD then a deathcap and didn't really help at all, but it's ARAM)
