You know, it's odd to say this, but it's actually kind of refreshing to have to start over again. I'm now free to make whatever character I want without worrying about who get's which cape, which ring, how much funding it gets, or any of that crap. The only thing I'm actually upset about is that I don't have nearly as many character slots now, and I can't reuse any of my old names.
Indeed. However you would have to be borderline insane to sit here and now say there wasn't anything. Especially after NEXON admitted it and it went on an and on and on.However I am going to agree with Stereo on they're going in alphabetical order. The ID name began with a w. I'm surprised that account wasn't hacked sooner to be honest. I went on after the hacking and found that I actually did have something of worth on it, tons of maple weapons pyropes and many 1 h bw pyropes some with epic potential. What was missing was my power elixers and it's 500k it had. CLEARLY WE'RE DEALING WITH MASTERMIND HACKERS HERE. They obviously just want a quick dime now and I think to an extent they don't care about items unless it has beyond amazing value. Also I'm surprised my mule which hasn't had it's info changed since the day it was made(other then pin to pic) hasn't been hacked. It doesn't have amazing stuff on it but it has some decently valued items. I think I can say without a doubt that the hackers no longer have access to the data base. The storm has passed, the beginning of all this the major hackings, and now this is just the wake. The hackers are scrounging through trying to find anything left that they can.
I only skimmed through a few pages of these and in addition to what I've witnessed from people I know in game, it seems, for whatever reason, these hackers are able to get into peoples' accounts who haven't had their password changed in a number of months.
As stated, the best course of action is to just constantly change your password, at least once a month, on whatever accounts you use on a daily basis.
Unfortunately for me the email I use for my main account was an old college email that I can no longer access and every time I try to fax Nexon a copy of my identification they just respond to my ticket stating my request is denied because the ID wasn't legible...and naturally when I call to try and see if I can get an email address to send a scanned copy to, the operator just acts dumbfounded like she doesn't know anything about anything and just tells me to try and get a better copy of the ID to fax over.
I'm going to try and fax them over a color copy of my ID sometime today if I have time, and if they continue to give me this line of it not be legible then I'll have to find another course of action...bc it's going to be a crying shame if my account gets hacked after I tried all I could physically do to get my email changed and they just decided to cast it away and not help me out at all.
just got a reactivation email for my first maplestory account, made the day gms came out of beta. nothing there though since my characters were deleted and igns were taken many, many moons ago.
This is making me really paranoid about my main account if they're going through in alphabetical order.
They hit my "C" account 12 days ago...do you think they've passed G by now?
Well, my account was in the E range, and got locked on Sunday by either a hacker or my friend who knows my ID but not my password (I trust him, but it is a possibility, since I have some equips I promised to give him and he's an impatient person). If it was the hacker, I'd assume he/she/they would be well into or beyond the G or H range by now.
Oh, and I got my main account back using that faxing method. It must have been a Christmas Miracle that Nexon gave me decent customer service, or even replied to my ticket in less than two months.
If I can make out what you're saying..then I'm guessing you changed your password back to what it was then got hacked. Thus proving more and more they no longer have database access and are just scrounging.
Congrats! I got mine changed after much difficulties about a year ago. Had to get my mother to fax my stuff at work.
If they knew hamad's old password, why the reactivation e-mail? They could have just waltzed in.
I also don't see how this proves anything about the database.
As for the alphabetical order: I have accounts starting with 'a' and 'b'. Haven't received any password-change e-mails on them, nor gotten hacked (yet?).
I got a response to a ticket I sent in back in October when I was hacked, seems promising...

Has anyone else who was hacked, but didn't get the first round of compensation, get any message along these lines?
I should add that none of my accounts have been hacked to my knowledge. I tend to not have anything of worth anyways, and I'm not high leveled (though that shouldn't be an issue here since they seem to be going after whatever they can). However, I will say this: If they are indeed just scrambling, my passwords aren't exactly complicated. And yet the only time I've really been hacked was during a Paypal scare that Paypal caught like Shi Fu catches flies.
In other words, the only times I REALLY fear for my things are when the thieves in question know what all I have. In other words, I've been extremely lucky, and this kind of luck..... I'll admit, it worries me.
While I am grateful for it, I also feel like it means I'm not important. Kinda gutwrenching if ya know what I mean.
I have a clear recollection of it being included in an official Nexon forum post or some such. Something in the lines of that they hoped that they could make it a standing feature in case of account compromisation. Though, I suppose it could refer to a package in itself, not the content of it.
That's pretty much the same message those who were hacked in 2009/2010 got after a half year of waiting and almost another year before the first round of compensation.
Except we got twice as much, but in the form of MaplePoints, which were worthless. From: "Nexon - Support"
