Maybe in traveling to the different temples collecting ancient artifacts to put on Air Temple Island when building Republic City, Aang happened to find a hidden herd of flying bison. Momo somehow still existed 100 years later, so... I don't even know.

At least the first series, they established that all air nomads are benders, so it makes sense that any of his children with Katara were air benders and not water benders and so on. By this theory, ALL of Aang's descendents should be air benders, then, I think?

I suppose the Bison thing is possible. I expect the entire thing will be explained in a few episodes...that's a big question that they won't leave unanswered....but then again....Zuko's Mom.

I thought only Tenzin was an Airbender between Aang's and Katara's children. Pretty sure that was mentioned when Tenzin was talking to Katara. Plus Korra mentioned Tenzin being the only Airbending master. As for Tenzin's children...all 4 are Airbenders (The unborn one is suspected to be one, so says Katara).

He actually said Oogi. That's the name of the bison. As to how appa reproduced is beyond me

I assumed they were all airbenders, since Pema asked Katara if Tenzin and his siblings were as hard to raise as her current 3 airbender kids. She mentions the other two (Kaia and Bumi?) were quite a handful, but Tenzin was always more serious... I don't recall any mention of what kind of benders they were. O.o;

Just because Tenzin is the only airbending master doesn't necessarily mean his siblings aren't airbenders as well--not all benders are masters, after all.

But I'm certain we'll meet them as the series progresses, so we'll find out for sure!

You're right, however I would think considering there's no other Airbenders, and their father is the Avatar, they would kinda get pushed into mastering Airbending for the future of the craft.

Tenzin is the only airbender child of Aang and Katara. The other two are presumably waterbenders, but it hasn't been stated yet what they are.

Bumi is a non-bender. And Kya is a water bender. Passing on bending is partially genetic and partially spiritual.

They might not have been imagined when that chart was made, or perhaps they want to keep them a surprise. Or it's just cut off, because that chart has some art on the right that's not seen, so it's possible something is missing.

I kinda hope they are keeping it a surprise, I dislike knowing everything about something before I even see/play it...it kinda takes away half the thrill/excitement.

I do hope Sokka is mentioned at some point though, I kind of expect that we'll learn he started a swordsmanship school or something.

I hope so too! Considering Suki probably picked up on some anti-bending from Ty lee, Maybe their kids could pick up on it too. Considering that the evil dude is against bending, maybe having sokka + suki children will be the kind of "xmen" characters, the normal people who want to co-exist with the benders instead of a pure non-bender world. Then Team Avatar 2.0 will have a mix of anti-bending and benders.

I feel like the first season will be her learning air bending and leeway-ing into the avatar state. Then the second season should be the avatar state + defeat the bad guy. I want to see Aang as the avatar guide :(


EDIT: Oogi is apparently a descendant of a herd of Bison that Aang found wandering the world. But this is according to the wiki, so it's probably not accurate. It makes the most logical sense though.

I just watched episode 1 and I'm holding episode 2 for a little bit. After all, its gonna be at least 3 more weeks before episode 3.

The first thing I thought of after they mentioned Tenzin having 2 siblings and seeing the anti bending leader wearing a mask was that It could be one of Ang's children, frustrated for not being born as a Bender.

Someone in animeultima.tv brough up the fact there is a 5th bending art which is supposed to be the origin of all bending, the energy bending that Ang used to take away the phoenix king's powers. That could be material for this series as it wasn't developed futher than that.

Ang's son Bumi sure looks like the old Bumi in that tree.

I saw the "Avatar Extras" deal when it was first broadcast...I found it very intrusive honestly. It's nice if you want some information you might have missed, but it often states the obvious, or assumes that you've already seen the entire series and spoils a lot.

Just finished watching the original series and watched the first 2 episodes of Korra.
It's really sad to know that Aang, Suki, Sokka and Toph are dead. but meh.

Korra seems like a mix of the strength and "manliness" of Toph, the sarcasm, wits and smarts of Sokka and the appearance of Katara. So i've started to like her pretty quickly and i look forward to seeing more aspects of her character.

Bolin seems like a lot of fun, and different from the Earthbenders seen in the original.

Mako is like Zuko in the sense that he is a hot-headed stoic non-cheerful type who is supposed to appeal to shippers and be a massive fanservice tool. (it's working)

The series so far seems like a clever mix of the original Avatar and Baccano!, the idea of Republic City and Korra being a sort of vigilante reminds me of another series too... but i can't quite remember what.
