yeah, aside from sliderdock, my desktop is more bland id wager. but it works, as i rarely use it.

I couldn't agree more. I hate seeing stuff on my desktop. If I need anything, I have a dock at the top of my screen that stays hidden unless I hover over the area it's located. From there I have a shortcut to "desktop", which is where all my downloads and stuff goes.

Save as a PNG and you'll be fine; afaik the file is smaller too.

That's mostly the reason why I upload most of my images to imageshack instead, which doesn't change the format of the image. Don't really know about other websites.
