No i agree with what you were saying. 12 hours is a little ridiculous considering we only just had one of those a few hours ago. The time they chose to do it, while convenient for korea, is terrible for every other reason.
Personally, I think this is the kind of server check they should always do.
"We got problems? Lets fix that **** before it gets bad!"
They kinda lose a few points for having already taken three servers checks prior to this one to 'fix' the issue, but still.
honestly a rollback wont do much good, a bunch of duped gear is inside mts
>Keep game up when things are crashing and let people mass dupe.
>Bring game down when no crashing has happened for hours and screw up rings.
Genius.
You'd think that if you've been around for at least 2 of the roll backs, then you'd understand that both of those times were strictly for meso exploit. Remember the cake vs pie event? That thing was timed, perfectly and so many people took part in duping every x:15 / x:45 of the hour because they could. Did they roll back? Definitely not. The economy will eventually stabilize from this, so to me, if they do a roll back, cool no one did pomegranate the past couple days anyways. If they don't, also cool, cheaper items for everybody.
They had the chance to do a roll back the past couple of days, but they didn't. Though as said previously by a number of people, the timing that they decided to have this server check leads me to believe that there will possibly be a roll back, if not at least deleting some of the items such as the MTSable Stonetooth Swords, Red Cravens and the Golden Nisrocks.
I'm going to stick to the fact that they've never had a roll back for these types of thing in the past, so why start now??
I hope the people who bought the hack item Stonetooths and Redcravens that they dont take it away cause people spent money on them... and if that does happen people are going to quit or find another way to get hack item.
The thing is, there has never been a duping this big in scale. Every single MapleStory player had the opportunity to dupe anything they wanted the past several days, and I'm willing to bet a very, very large portion of the player base took that opportunity as soon as they could. Not only did all these people have the chance to do this, they had several hundred chances to do this because the channel and world crashes were happening every few minutes for days. This very easily can be considered as bad if not worse than the meso exploits that warranted rollbacks in the past.
Plus, as mentioned, we currently have the Secret Spell Scrolls that are used as currency, which can be considered a meso exploit in its own right.
Never been a duping this big in scale?? Are you being serious right now, or just joking? The cake vs pie event was so much worse, considering people actually knew what time it was going to crash. Almost everybody duped during that. The crashings recently was a gamble, people lost things while trying to dupe, and I know a lot of people who tried but failed. No one knew the crash times this time, except for the people attacking the servers.
Like I said before, you make it seem like every possible attempt at duping works. People lost items that they wanted / tried to dupe, and many also failed to dupe because they did it wrong / didn't know when the servers were going to crash next.
Just because everybody tried to dupe, doesn't mean everybody got it to work.
To everyone talking about a rollback, I can assure you there will NOT be a rollback.
Believe what you want, but being a player since 2006 I know Nexon by now, they've done less than 5 rollbacks in 6-7 years of the game being up.
Basically the only times they've done rollbacks at all are meso exploits, even some of those didn't end with a rollback.
Anybody remember the perfect pitch event exploit? Was there a rollback? Nope.
How about cake vs pie dupe, which was mentioned above? Nope.
Then what about the more recent map tele dupe? Nope.
There won't be a rollback, have fun selling your duped goods kiddies.
The only problem I have with the down time now is that I haven't had enough up time to get on all my compensation "farming" accounts.
=/
I doubt they going to delete the dupe items Some potential stability issues will be resolved meaning that they going to over write the hacks of duping so it can stop -_-.. I been a beta player for a long time they are not even going to delete dupe items. So just like hai2u said Have fun selling ur dupe items cause you going to be rich.So kids don't worry just have fun playing Maplestory.
This is what I'm talking about.
There have been more than 2, but definitely not more than 5.
What I listed above wasn't even close to all of the major exploits that they didn't rollback, I just listed a select few off the top of my head.
Anybody hoping for a rollback, it's not gonna happen so may as well prepare for the influx of duped gear.
HAVENT PLAY MAPLE FOR 3 DAYS!~![]()
They can't "over write the hacks of duping so it can stop".
It is always possible to dupe when you know when a channel is going to crash, due to the way Nexon's database works. To prevent it entirely they'd have to rewrite or replace it entirely.
They could make duping much harder by making "savepoints" much more frequent, but that would require that they upgrade their hardware significantly. As in, spend $$. Not gonna happen. This is Nexon.
What they can do, and do, is block whatever methods are being used to crash channels, as they find them. Unfortunately their code is so riddled with holes that hackers are always finding new ways to make the servers crash.
