I believe that. GMS is easily the best of the versions these days. We have gollux (godly gear and awesome boss), commerci (cheap as f'uck crafting), no MEEs, our content updates are consistent and pretty quality (compared to sea, ems, jms), and our quality of life outside hack incidents is pretty good. The only version that can compete with that is KMS since they have u&i, and they've been competing with jms all these years so it's not like seeing the different versions as a race war is new to them.
Unfortunately to us we couldn't care less because KMS is broken in the worst ways these days...
You misunderstand. I don't mean that it is about a literal race to 250 between GMS and KMS. My whole post was talking about whether or not racism is part of why the KMSers are pissed that GMS might beat them to 250. It is a race, but I do not think that it is founded in racism between versions.
Since when does a few Korean players commenting about this GMS situation represent the whole KMS community?
Both versions are different and GMS does have its advantages compared to KMS which greatly speeds up the leveling process.
There will always be a problem with these events as people will always try to take away from an achievement that they themselves cannot achieve. We "may" have better grounds on terms of gear, damage, kanna & exp but this is something that shouldn't be knocked.
The first level 250 is something we should all enjoy together, not something we should fight over. (anyway that's only a small group of people voicing their opinion in Kms)
It's not like being the first 250 even means anything, other than that the person in question is playing the game far too much.
Still though, i'm expecting to see plenty of "hero worship" and about 50 threads a day on basil about him (if there isn't already)
I see legitimate Chaos Vellum kills to be a lot more worthy of attention than someone grinding at (and to) a frankly absurd level.
I didn't say I wasn't.and yes you are right, not everyone think the same way as those who actually make comments on such forums. But those who do make comments are ... bizarrely patriotic. I fortunately or unfortunately am not.
Not because it is a 'race' war, but it is because they(the top KMSers) didn't make it first. Even if InmateSearch was a Korean he would probably get the same criticism. Honestly I would give just as much credit for the person who comes 250 first in whatever server, unless it's 100% obvious they are hacking etc.I don't believe that the KMSers are annoyed at someone in GMS hitting 250 first because they believe that Maplestory has now become a GMS vs. KMS race war.
Some are annoyed, some are amazed, some are sad and some are cheering.
Maybe not to you, but reaching the maximum level cap is worthy of an achievement in my book and I am sure a lot of people will agree with me on this one.
No doubt InmateSearch will be very proud upon reaching level 250.
The first Korean player who reached Lv. 200 before Big Bang is a successful 58-year old business man with a family who has been given a special award for his achievement of reaching the first level cap in the offline RED event of last year.
Spoiler
Well if people consider standing in one spot 24/7 pressing a button to be worthy of merit, then whatever. I don't understand how it's possible at all without botting or account sharing, and regardless of how it was done, it's still unhealthy and shouldn't be endorsed.
And in regards to the original level 200 player, good for them, but it was different back then, and there probably wasn't as much competition to get to the top, he likely didn't (and couldn't) grind 24/7 to get there.
Fair play to him for sticking it through to the end, but unless I see absolute proof that he didn't use any illegal methods, I'm always going to wonder about how he did it and don't consider it as worthy of praise as the rest of you.
The point is that he has enough dedication and motivation to achieve it, not that he can sit there spamming one button all day. It takes a lot more effort than you'd think, especially since he's been maximizing his exp multipliers, which I'm sure took lots of testing and planning. Keeping a full party active 24/7 with all the buffs he needs would be a headache too, I'd imagine (that is if he's not using multiple computers).
I haven't called him guilty at all. I'm not ACCUSING him of anything.
If anything i'm rather indifferent about it since i'll likely never know one way or the other. I'm not gonna go around screaming "he's a great big phony!", but i'm not gonna get on the hype train with everyone else either.
I wondered how long it would be before someone basically said "U only a h8r cuz u jelly"
Yes, you clearly aren't trying to bait anyone with that comment, nosiree.
