Quest booster might as well be required if you intend to get the quests done in a reasonable time frame lol. I've been working on mine for a little while yesterday and most of today and he's only 123...at this rate i'll get it done some time next week. >_>
There are still some aspects of the Commerci trade system that are confusing me, mostly in regard to "personal items" and the ships inventory (accessed through your inventory screen)
I don't think they were actually explained, and they don't seem to do anything.
Anywho, my ship will be reaching level 3 tomorrow, and I'll get access to the Grosso Polpo trade route, sweet sweet loot.
How exactly did you get 18-22 levels in 30 min at Monster Park Extreme? On a pretty much unfunded character it takes forever to kill the mobs. I've done it the full 3 times and only gained 4 levels or so. I'm sure with 3x I would have gained more, but 18+? That's stretching it.
Maybe I'm just a n00b
I just wanted to emphasize what takebacker was saying. The leveling to 180 on my zero went very, very fast with the booster. I reckon leveling zero would actually be quite tedious if you didnt have the booster.
Some areas have more quests than others, so people without a booster will probably find themselves grinding dungeons for exp to fill between levels.
I didn't think I'd make it to 180 until January if ever, but made it to 163 just today, highest character ever the Quest Booster helps a lot. I've been doing every single quest, not just the Story ones, but even without them, with Booster I only needed to grind once for literally 1 EXP.

Still finding Zero's actual skills pretty frustrating by level 120. Since it's basically every single one, I'm gonna take them in order.
Alpha:
Moon Strike + Piercing Thrust: actually these two are ok.
Shadow Strike: unfortunately, to use them, you need the worst teleport skill ever. Finish attacking a mob, then randomly teleport half a second later when I hit an arrow key.
Flash Assault + Spin Cutter: 5 sec cooldown, need I say more? Um. A nice dash forward skill. And a random AOE attack you can cast after it because surely there will be mobs there.
Time Generator: I have never run below 95/100 TF on Alpha. So... thanks for the TF buffing skill.
Rolling Cross: 10 sec cooldown. Because skills you can use are too good for Zero.
Beta:
Rising Slash + Air Raid: hella slow. hella tiny range. but really good damage if a mob is close enough.
Flash Cut + Throwing Weapon: 5 sec cooldown trololol.
Solid Body: +wdef, +stance, +resistance to various stuff. Actually this one's ok.
Spin Driver: haven't got any hotkeys left because Zero has too many attacks, can't use it on its own because it has 10s cooldown.
Zero:
Dual Combat: I kinda like this idea. But again with the cooldowns. Also, having to map two characters worth of attacks. Why not just have different modes, like Kaiser's transfigured state?
Divine Force/Divine Speed: I hope this isn't the only booster available on Zero cause Beta's pineapplein slow.
Burst Jump: Your standard FJ style double jump. No problem.
Burst Step: it's teleporting without the positives. Slow to cast because you have to tap the keys (but not too quickly or it won't work), will happily teleport upward to 10mm below a platform so you fall down, and you can't use it without letting go of all other arrow keys first. Randomly activates when I'm going into a portal and teleports me away from it again.
Rhinne's Protection: Maple Warrior for beginners, cause idek.
Doubletime: would help, except
(a) it only applies when the attack hits something, so if you end up in the middle of nowhere with no mobs, you can't attack.
(b) it only applies when you don't combo the attack. Rolling Cross -> Flash Assault -> Spin Cutter -> lol can't use Rolling Cross *or* Flash Assault again for 5 seconds. Rolling Cross -> Flash Assault -> Rolling Cross is usable much faster.
Time Distortion: kinda godly and absolutely feels un-earned because I got it like 20 mins after starting the character. Actually that goes for the MW and teleporting skills too.
Time Holding: reset cooldowns every 180 seconds? Which of my 3-10 second cooldowns is this supposed to save me from waiting for?
It's also nice that it can't use my existing top/bottom... I wouldn't even be mad if Alpha/Beta had separate equip slots. This is like "one of you was bad so NO CANDY FOR ANYONE"
Oh, and zero's super-duper-special-wecial quests use spacebar and enter regardless of where you map the NPC chat hotkey.
On the whole I am gonna go back to Hayato once the link skill is maxed out and the character card is S ranked, unless the combos get way smoother. There's too much "pineapple, hit the wrong key, wait 5 seconds before being able to do anything" and not enough straight up ruining a monster's day.
Ya, I agree with you on most of that.
between levels 100-140, you pretty much have to use all your attack skills so you wont have to wait. After that, you can finally retire your first attack skills. When you get them all, you will have 4 attack skills for Alpha and Beta each. I understand it is frustrating, and to be honest some of the combinations are still really obnoxious at high lvls, but it gets much better.
I particularly hate Spin Driver + Wheel Wind for beta because you can't stop it unless you use another skill.
You will probably enjoy it more once you are higher level.
The 5 sec cooldowns don't slow me down at all, as long I keep alternating between each 'sets' while landing hits, the previous one will be available again.
Thought of a couple overarching complaints after I stopped for a bit.
(1) Looting is annoying on characters with lots of movement skills. Even with a pet (which I don't have). All of Alpha's attacks are movement skills, so you can't just sit in one place and attack + loot. Switching to Beta while looting is definitely feasible but the attacks are so slow :/
(2) Combos are only nice if you have any choice in the matter. That you have to go A B C A B C A B C (when using one skill) or A D B D C D (when using a couple) kinda makes the benefits of A/B/C moot, since you can't use them until another 4 attacks into the rotation sometimes. It's cool if they don't want you spamming Rolling Cross (it does do a lot of damage) but that once I've put SP in something, I have to use it if I want to use another attack sucks balls.
Just hit 180 on my zero and wow. I have no idea how Nexon is ever going to top this. On a side note, anyone know how to get rid of this giant flashing story button?
I just finished the 3rd story arc on Zero and am just shy of the exp to lvl130.
Overall I find this character a pain. Alpha has great mobility and except for the 5s cd I really like him, but Beta's skills are incredibly clunky and frustrating to have to use. The dungeon style training was interesting at first but it gets boring fast since I'm repeating some dungeons 2-5 times.
Apparently I'm the only one here leveling without quest booster exp. I just feel like he's such a chore to level for the Character Card + Link Skill.
Damn it. When i thought i have finally managed to quit Maple (last login was maybe around january) I come here to just take a little look what is going on and BAM! So much awesomeness. Mainly interested in New Maple but this patch seems amazing. Checked out skill rewamps and oh god that Paladin changes. Finally blunt weapons get own animations! I got so excited. Skillbooks from store? Job changing? New good looking classes? Forgeable cubes with rare drop rate? It seems like Maple is trying to improve. I quit it because it got really frustrating to try to cope with everything solo unfunded. Couldn't kill much bosses or go anywhere except train. Now it seems so much better. Or is it just a look an old mapler is having after not checking it for some time?
Celebrity medals/Pouch? No problem for zero
Also, people point out to me that the RED colored damage from zero's assist is causing people to dc not the skill it selves.
Honestly, after doing the entire Zero quest line and more, it's one of the smoothest battle systems in maple. If it doesn't feel right to you, you're probably doing something wrong. That being said, I would definitely recommended anyone making a zero to buy a quest booster coupon if you can. I know Stereo was asking about it earlier, but I just got my weapon to unique and I'd estimate it took around 20, give or take, tries. Not long at all. Could just have been lucky though.
Also can I just say how much I love people acting like I'm the first lvl 180 Zero in the world? So fun haha.

Zero's combos really start to become ridicuously fun and easy to use after around level 160 or so. EVERY single one of Zero's skills gets upgraded to become more useful, if anything the only skill I don't use often is Beta's throwing weapon skill, everything else I use by abusing the hell out of the tag/assist system.
I was clearing out whole levels of the dungeons in one combo, and I'm usually the kind of person who sucks at performing combos, I also thought that I might have latency and it might affect Zero's skills, but it didn't, at all.

Right, my vessel reached level 3 and I unlocked the Rosa trade route. At level 3 my vessel gained an extra 2 inventory space, which is awesome because now I get extra profit per run.
I fought Grosso Polpo EVERY time on this trade route, I was expecting him to be rarer, but I only had 3 runs on this trade route, maybe I got lucky.
the first 2 times he dropped nothing but mesos, the third time he dropped a Sealed Cubic Blade which was counted as "treasure". I'd imagine I could have traded it, but I used it instead (it was a use item) and I got a Cubic Blade.
I'm not sure why, but Grosso Polpo was green instead of orange like we'd seen in the past. I wonder if it's a low level version?
