My day wasn't very good.
I work in retail, and occasionally have work days that begin with long phone calls from angry customers complaining about things that I had absolutely nothing to do with, or correcting orders that I had no involvement in whatsoever. Alas, today at work I got a call around 9:00 AM from a customer who was complaining about how a $600 Serta mattress he ordered didn't come with a cheap little blanket he saw advertised somewhere. After searching frantically for rebate forms and waiting for the old computers to load, I told him that I'm trying as hard as I can to help him get his blanket, and that I just have to wait for the page to load in our system so I can check the rebates. He told me that I'm just wasting his and the delivery crew's time (since they had arrived at his house for setup at that time) and that he's going to just cancel the order because the mattress didn't include a blanket.
He began ranting and swearing at me, and I was told repeatedly that I'm worthless, incompetent, a waste of time and space, and that I'm just a dumb kid who doesn't deserve to be paid for my work. I apologized and told him that I'm doing everything I can possibly do within my power to make sure he gets a blanket, but he hung up on me. When the page finally loaded, it turned out that the rebate had expired in November and was valid for the iSeries, which the model that he ordered wasn't. The whole fiasco took nearly an hour, and left me with a sinking feeling of worthlessness and depression for the rest of the day.
