Maybe there will be a lv 250 boss (Black mage?) in future, so that every 1 level above 200 gives you 2% chance of hitting it ?
Am I seriously one of the few people who thinks most things are actually better now? This is not regarding levelling up but more to how there's so much more I can do now if I have time to kill in the game rather than log in and say "Whoo, I have four hours to...do nothing but train!" It's still somewhat true now but I have a bunch of quests to complete still with ToT, deciding how to make a decent shoulderpad and farming Drill Hall 1 for items to get crystals at least.
Also, I think I did hear from somewhere else that the new hunting ground sucked so I'm not surprised.
Leveling from 200 to 250 is purely for ranking purposes. And to lose some lives. Just imagine that you continue to gain EXP after Lv. 200.
People can get a head start if they want to. Look at how many people leveled past 70 or 120 before 3rd or 4th job were out.
I think if they put EVERYTHING into 1 giant patch, it would be a giant overload of content. Think if that happened in GMS and how many potential bugs, exploits, hacks, etc could happen. If I'm not mistaken, we had a giant giant patch once before and it didn't go too well.
This is my biggest gripe, not the amount of EXP or anything else. This is like the infamous bridge to nowhere except there isn't anyone on this island, let alone 50 people. People have said multiple times in this thread, "But it's coming!" Sure, we can (hopefully) expect content, much like the bridge can hopefully expect a greater population as a result of less barge travel, but wouldn't it be smarter to have level 201+ function as a necessity rather than something merely cosmetic and hoping for the best?
As I said in the other thread, we are going to have some 2-4 months of revamped Cygnus while this bridge sits idle? Even though they obviously could put some content into the game with the new classes, it just feels like time wasted. How about you put those Cygnus (and any other new classes you have up your sleeves) away and focus just on this? I wonder what would be accomplished.
It's not like they had to make 200+ content or new skills or anything with this, but they really should have added something. Why not make it 2 AP a level? Why not just give someone +.2% damage every level past 200? Anything to benefit people for leveling further besides the allure of future content.
This is pretty much sums it up for me:
I don't really see the big deal in Nexon raising the level cap. I also don't see why everyone is so caught up in trying to get to the level cap. I understand that, as the cap, it's a pretty good, and very... well, final, goal, but the game itself doesn't push you into getting to cap. There's nothing special about getting to the cap, well, besides finally attaining it, I suppose, and besides rankings, I suppose, there never has been. When it was 200 (It is very weird talking about our present in the past tense), you got a medal, you got echo, you possibly got a mount.
There's even less reason to get to the cap now. Take now for example, you don't have to be 200 to get all your skills maxed, the highest bosses are 190, you only have to be 190 if you don't want an accuracy penalty, killing those bosses is another story, I admit, and I feel like Hypers are more of an extra reward for doing extra leveling than a necessity. After the cap is raised, you don't even get SP or AP, and you certainly don't get anything just for being 250.
As stated many times before, Maple isn't one of those games like WoW, there aren't all these amazing things you can do once you hit the cap; for Maple, the cap is just an arbitrary level, that, if you so choose, you can possibly reach; it's not guaranteed that you'll be able to hit it, and it doesn't have to be easy to get there. This is also why, I'm sorry, but I feel that complaints of lack of end game content are pretty unjustified. Instead of asking why there isn't anything to do once you're at cap, perhaps the question you should be asking is why you're at the cap in the first place, and this extends to earlier levels to, if there's nothing to do, why did you work to get there in the first place? Take me, for example, now all I really do, and want to do, is kill bosses, so basically, all my reasons for leveling to 200 are pretty much so I don't suffer accuracy penalties, and so I don't lose EXP when I die. Now that there's a new cap, well, I'd definitely love to hit it, and I'm probably gonna be training the instant we get this patch, but, I don't have to be 250 right away.
I also fail to see why having extra SP means Nexon should've had 5th job to use up those SP right away. I mean, 3rd and 4th job didn't come automatically as soon as people got to 70 and 120, so it's not like having extra SP is really anything new.
That isn't to say that I don't sympathize with you and wish there were more things to do, but, I'm also content to just get on Maple, chat with friends, sometimes do events, sometimes do bosses, sometimes train.
^^^ I agree with pretty much all of that. But then, I also would have liked it if the level cap were 70 before 3rd job and 120 before 4th. I would always like it if there's real content for levels you're gaining.
Oh yeah, they definitely didn't NEED to make any content. People will keep going just because.
I just made a new Maple Account since Nexon deactivated my high level one-- I guess I didn't use it for a while and they were cleaning up-- and then they reactivated one I shut down myself so I'm starting over. I'm hoping leveling is made too easy but it seems like it now. Some people I was familiar with got to the high 100s and beyond in less than a month. Maybe this greater level cap will deter some of these crazy power levelers from hogging all the good training spots.
The difference between then and now is that back then leveling past 70/120 still offered you HP, MP, SP, and AP. I was 14x almost 15x when 4th came out. It was a matter of saving the SP you got. It also made that hard work "worth it" in a sense because you still were getting rewarded for your efforts.
It's rather demotivating to see that no such thing is currently in place. Making the idea of 5th job and other interesting concepts seeming less likely.
Not that I'll ever make it past 200 in the first place, but still
Currently the number 1 player on the rankings is a Xenon at level 207. Second is another Xenon at level 205 and third is the original first level 200 player who is now level 205. He is a Hero.
Wow, you KMSers got some real old players.
