    Ah, like Assaulter?

    Not sure if I can't wait to play my two favorite classes, Bandit and Brawler, after this patch...

    Incidentally, they're judged to get the most out of this revamp.
    Playstyles do change a lot though.

    Shadowers got by far the worst out of the 4 updates.

  4. Default Re: Post-Justice Shadower Build.

    After looking at people talking about most effective combos for shaodwers I decided to look into it further. I would like to look more closely at Assassinate. I will make some underlying assumptions that are false to begin with. I will take the combat scenario of a single immobile target. I will assume that mesos droped by PP instantly detonates for all combos except Assassinate. I will also assume that the time it takes to case Dark sight and then Assassinate w/o the 4th hit takes the same time it does to preform Boomerang step followed by Carnival edge. Each set of attacks can be normalized to this as an attack frame, or one set of combos.

    For this analysis I will assume a 5% crit rate with a crit range of 120% to 150%, I will also assume that all hits are average; additionally , it should be noted that Assassinate does not crit with the exception of the last hit.

    Dark sight + Assassinate (no 4th hit)
    0.95 * (7.4 * 2.5 * 3 * 1.7) => 89.63 or 8,963%

    Bstep + Carnival edge and instant exploding PP
    0.95*(7.1*2*1.7+1.22*1.25*8*1.7+16*2.97)*((0.05*0. 35)+1) => 89.31 or 8,931%

    With these initial (and false) assumptions it would suggest some margin between Assassinate and the BS+CE+ME combo. This would suggest that these exists an effective damage range for which all values below are best suited to use Assassinate. Because of the damage cap there exists some effective damage range which Bstep + CE is more effective. This rough model would also suggest any increases in Crit damage or rate will place Bstep + CE + ME to be better; despite this keep in mind that I am assuming all PPed mesos are instantly exploding. Realistically the time to cast DS + Assassinate – 4th is faster than the Bstep + CE + ME combo. Now suppose that It was only Meso explosion.

    Meso Explosion –
    (0.95*15*2.97)* ((0.05*0.35)+1) => 43.06 or 4,306%
    But ME is pretty fast right? So lets double that to one attack frame: 86.12 or 8,612%
    This still fall short of the one Assassinate attack frames damage. This would suggest under the given conditions purely using assassinate is the way to go. However if ME can be cast more than 2 times per one DS + Assassinate then ME is still worth the trouble.

    Thus far I have been looking at this from only a % standpoint. Because these exists a damage cap Assassinate will reach this before the other combos. With these given conditions that damage range is just under 60k (assuming PP mesos instant explode). So in reality the margin between the two could be much greater- this would suggest also that for some set range even when hitting max damage on Assassinate, Assassinate is a better choice- until other combos catch up.

    Please feel free to point out any massive mistakes I have made in this analysis- other than the false assumptions I had made at the start.

    Hmm...

    Locked, would you recommend sacrificing a point from Pickpocket to cut Dark Flare's cool time by 40 seconds? Personally, I think it's a good idea, but I would like to see what others think.

    This is exactly how I feel whenever someone suggests me to sacrifice Pickpocket on my Guide as well.
    All the time: "Let's not Max PP and Max Shield Mastery instead!!!!!!!!!" -facepalm- (On Pre-Justice)

  8. Default Re: Post-Justice Shadower Build.

    I know, I know. I love Pickpocket myself, but I figured since it's only a difference of 5%...

    Oh yeah. Any idea whether Greed's effects are additive or multiplicative? Like, does maxed Pickpocket's success rate become 80% or 72%? Does it work differently for Meso Guard?

    I gave up Chakra for Shield Mastery, instead of sacrificing Pickpocket.

    Besides, it's only one pineappleing point I'm talking about here.

  9. Default Re: Post-Justice Shadower Build.

    Considering a Shadower's greatest damage output on, well, just about everything, comes from Meso Explosion, I don't think that's such a great idea. -5% won't cripple you completely, but Dark Flare just isn't that useful as it is right now. It's nice for reflecting 1/1's and in PvP, but that's about it. I'm also pretty sure they fixed the de-aggroing property it had.

  10. Default Re: Post-Justice Shadower Build.

    That was a glitch with bosses, auto aggro was somehow borked and unless poked bosses would not attack you. So even if Flare could still de-aggro monsters it would be useless if it does not work on bosses, and they fixed it long ago. Shaodw Flare is absolutely not worth any downgrade on other skills in 3rd job, but I suppose you could max it instead of stupid useless Sudden Raid if you have points to spare at 190+.

    And while I am here, why the hell did they name a Shadower skill Muspelheim? In norse mythology, that is the realm of fire. Does the attack have anything to do with fire?

  11. Default Re: Post-Justice Shadower Build.

    I don't know Post-Justice, but in gMS right now Greed is additive and B-Step's passive damage is multiplicative.

  12. Default Re: Post-Justice Shadower Build.

    What. Seriously?

  13. Default Re: Post-Justice Shadower Build.

    I would make a post justice corsair build. I know what skills not to max, but I have no idea on the order to max them.

    Yeah... It has always been this way.
    Here is some proof that I posted on Basil a while back:
    Here is my Dagger so you know there is no hidden %Dmg:
    Spoiler

    I put my Monster set on Henesys so there is no hidden %Dmg here either:
    Spoiler

    As you can see my max Damage is 15008.
    Assaulter is 290%. Add +25% and you get 315%. 15008*3.15=47275.2
    Therefore if we get anything above 47275.2, the damage must be multiplicative and not additive.
    Spoiler

    As you can see I did 50k+ with Assaulter
    Before someone says that this for some odd reason doesn't apply to BoT, let's do BoT as well.
    BoT if additive it's 460%. 15008*4.6=69036.8. So if I do anything above that, it implies that the damage is not additive.
    Spoiler

    As you can see I did 73k+ with BoT. Therefore B-Step's Passive Damage is multiplicative.

    It's blue. And has ribbon-things. Looks more like it should be Niflheim than Muspelheim.

  18. Default Re: Post-Justice Shadower Build.

    Shouldn't Assassinate be maxed much earlier than lv190 considering the cooldown was removed, so it's by far the best 1v1 dps we have (barring damage cap effects)? Also you're completely missing levels 187 and 188.
