Rolling Spin spam! >_>
[s]I have done my own calculations, and for some reason OSFB is still better DPS than FT. I've been a strong supporter of FT since I discovered it at 120 and it let me train super fast without the need for overpriced skill books.
I really would like to believe you when you say FT does better damage than OSFB.
Could you point out how your calculations differ from mine?[/s]
I was calculating Sudden Strike bonus additively, and you assure me it's multiplicative. I have updated the table below to be accurate.
I do not calculate crits or PDR.
Attack Time/attack Damage/attack # Hits/attack AFA procs/attack AFA Damage/attack Total Damage/attack TOTAL DPS FT 0.33 640% 1 0.6 150% 790% 2370% OS 1.33 1880% 3 1.8 450% 2330% 1748% OSFB 1.89 2945% 4 2.4 600% 3545% 1878%
Final Toss does 400% * 1.6 damage = 640% per attack.
Unless they changed it since it was first introduced, I am 100% sure.
Okay, thank you. I will edit my post to reflect that, and continue to preach FT to the stubborn basil noobs ._.
I have another open question (and I might probably just do the math by myself later this evening):
Does having Combat Orders (+2) help OSFB compete with FT spam? This would be more applicable on bosses, too, where one is likely to meet a Paladin party member and make better use of FB's bonuses and the swing range increase.
Irrelevant.
Ignore this post.

I'm bored and BGA/BGB are boring, so I decided to find my empirical %/s.
ranges: 23390~24883 / 27153~28886 (when DS is on)
Fire vs. Fire-weak boss, 400mil HP, 25% PDR.
8:36:33 - 8:46:41
= 10 minutes 8 seconds
Assuming 90% DS, 10% non - average range is 27631.
So in 608 seconds, 400,000,000 damage: 657,894 damage per second, 2381.00%
Ice vs. Ice-weak boss, 500mil HP, 25% PDR.
8:46:45 - 8:59:24
= 12 minutes 39 seconds
So in 759 seconds, 500,000,000 damage: 658,761 damage per second, 2384.14%
Result: Despite being 120% vs. 130% charges I did pretty much exactly the same damage on each.
I don't know what the expected 1vs.1 %/s is, though, given 1.5% ignore def from ambition, 30% from threaten. I'm using a weapon speed this thread doesn't have (slow 7, 5 with booster)
Hrm. Flame Charge + Fast 4 = 2614%/s, fast 4 to fast 5 is 14/15 as much, so 2440% is about what I'd expect. On the other hand Ice Charge is supposed to be about 7.7% weaker, ie. 2264% which is less than my actual damage.
If I assume 100% DS, average is 28019 and %s is still 2350%, 85% higher than expected.
This is not what I expected to see at all. I was thinking I'd get maybe 80-90% of the %/s listed, not 104% of it.
So what's the deal with that? Are the tables listing without elemental weakness? If I assume not, I get ~70% of expected %/s.
Less interesting
Fire vs. Fire-weak The Boss - 150m hp, 25% pdr, 9 level difference
8:59:25 - 9:03:42
4 minutes 7 seconds = 247 secs for 150m hp = 607287 damage per sec = 7.7% less than on BGA, 14% less than BGB = 2169%/s (2645% adjusted for 18% miss rate)
None of the tables account for elemental weakness. I've been considering changing adjusted mastery to be a pure multiplier against maximum damage as opposed to a ratio of 4th job mastery vs 2nd job mastery. It will show a lower %/s, but the original intent was for it to exist to compare the improvement in damage when considering mastery, and comparing between two characters that do not have the same mastery.
Here's the tables including Fast (5) and Normal (6). Do Paladins still experience the less than completely random criticals on Blast too?
Paladin:Divine + Lightning ChargeFlame + Lightning ChargeSharp Eyes
Yeah, on these bosses, once it crits, the rest of the hits display the exact same damage. I still haven't got around to testing for sure whether it's legitimately doing all the crits.

The only thing to consider about this is that, if BGA is anything like he currently is in JMS, he Stuns like crazy. Now I don't know if you have any Stun Resistance, but it seriously hampers your time. ShiKage and I have been doing BGA for about a week now (daily), and we spend a lot of time on BGA because he just spams the crap out of Stun (There's a lot of time we're sitting there for 30-45 seconds just stunned after stunned, we get a single attack in then are stunned again).
It would explain why you do the same amount of damage between Fire and Ice charges, because you're actually taking longer to deal with A due to the Stun.
About the same numbers thing: That's been a weird glitch that's been around since the original Big Bang patch (even in KMS, I remember seeing it on my Paladin back then). I'm not exactly sure how it's dealt with though...if you're truly doing exactly the same damage three times, or if it's just a display glitch. An idea (I could attempt as well), would be to use Blast on enemies you miss frequently (Like something 5-10 levels above you), but NOT a boss. Watch the Health, and we can see if, when the damage shows the same, if the Health bar goes down by a normal amount. If there's misses involved and it's a display glitch, then the Health of the enemy wouldn't go down nearly as much as it should.
You say in your post you've only seen it on bosses....did they fix it for normal enemies? My idea wouldn't work then. Back when I experienced this in KMS it occurred on everything. I haven't leveled Blast much on my JMS Paladin, and as a result I don't use it so I have no idea if it's only present on bosses now.
