Besides I think he/she/it would still be able to put some SP on Big Bang, not sure how many though. Also, since I began playing maplestory, in my eyes the mages main appeal were elements/ultimates.
In the end it depends on @Satan;
Re: Ask a Magician Thread.
Yeah bishop arent exactly DPS classes to begin with. Max MW on that bad boi and leave out BB. Or leave out Genesis but, its Genesis come on man, the first ultimate...
Re: Ask a Magician Thread.
Thank you all for your help!
So all those skills, like Infinity, ARE worth it, just Big Bang is not worth it? Thanks.
Re: Ask a Magician Thread.
I am currently lvl 164 with 2 SP left over and I dont know what skill to choose from the two. I currently have Max Para,Eruption, infinity, buff mastery and Arcane's Aim with all the one pointers. So I cant decide if I want Ifrit or Big Bang.
My reason for wanting Big Bang is for a longer DoT time so I can Bigbang>eruption>paralyze spam>eruption again without worrying if the Bigbang DoT timed out. As it normally does either rightbefore or right after the eruption.
But Im also thinking of getting Ifrit So that I can actually keep him summoned. (lol 20second timer). But the reason I want Ifrit is for the % resistence that it adds. because I feel it only works when it summoned (CURSE YOU NEXON FOR REMOVING MY ELEMENTAL RESISTANCE!!)
So im not sure which one I should get. And I dont do the whole max both at the same time. 1 good skill is better than 2 half assed ones.
Re: Ask a Magician Thread.
I'm a 148 Evan and I have little funding, I have about 40m to my name and I don't know where to start upgrading. I'm using the level 40 equips with some Int from the profession and a Legendary Maple Manareaper. Where do I start upgrading when I'm unfunded? Timeless Equips?

Boleadoras wand. I dunno how much they go for, but if you're unfunded and have a character between lv76-106, hunt Soul Teddies. Average 133 m.atk; mine is 136.
If the lv123 ones ever get released as drops, they're 146 m.atk average ;_;
Re: Ask a Magician Thread.
This might be a late late answer, but Ifrit is greater over Big Bang in almost any case. Ifrit Helps see DR activation, attacks while you don't (an extra hit), and provides elemental resistance.
@Shadow Trainer; I'd recommend doing Azwan so that you can get the Emperors staff. Its quite easy to make and a good staff. I don't recommend Timeless equips, too expensive and there are better easier things to get. Try for the Emperors set.

Yeah its kinda like. Big Bang is lvl 29 now. But I really like Big Bang so its no problem. Plus the DoT is nice. Personally I feel like im not gonna max MW or metoer. Probably MW as 200 is out of the question for me and I dont like maxing MW myself much.
@Shadow Trainer; For upgrading make all your lvl 40 equipment have 4% int except for the sheild as it is really expencive to do. The other 5 pieces are really cheap. if u already did that or just tired of low lvl crap like me. (i still havent upgraded though) you can do the Emperors set. Though honnestly If you have 4% on every equipment that's lvl 40 I dont think the emperors set will do much. However for the weapon go for reverse staff. You can get the recipe from regenages shop and hunt for the PoT. and the lvl ups add 1~4 magic attack so it really pretty good. And you cant get any timeless stuff as the weapon recipes drop from cyngus. (why did they do that?)

Maxing this is important. Maxing it reduces the cooldown and it is actually fairly useful when you're training or at a boss that summons things that fly around the map.
Re: Ask a Magician Thread.
@valhala556; I agree with Bleve on this, Meteor is indeed fairly useful. Currently with my own A F/P I'm between maxing Big Bang or Meteor.
Re: Ask a Magician Thread.
Ah Guess ill max it. Currently lvl 179 with lvl 20(+1) ifrit. On my paladin I have max HH and I like being able to take care of mobs without moving. And the cooldown change will be nice too whenever that happens.
Re: Ask a Magician Thread.
Finally got my old I/L Mage to 120.
I have ZERO idea what I/L AM builds are like. Any help there? I would assume my first 3 SP would go into Chain Lightning, Blizzard and Glacier.

Re: Ask a Magician Thread.
A poster above just mentioned that a Bishop ought to train with Big Bang. Ironically that is the only skill I have 0 SP in. I'm a returning player, so I always just assumed to leave Big Bang alone since it's historically been the worst attack. Was I really supposed to max it? What area in particular do I use it to train on? (I'm 163)

Dont worry about big bang for now - In a upcoming patch (KMST RED) bishops will be the only class with big bang anymore and it will get a massive buff in damage and will have no charge function when genesis is on cool down, you will have enough SP when your 200 to max both skills, but nexon will most likely reset all AP when that patch comes out so dont worry about getting left behind.
If you want to see some of the KMST bishop content head over to my channel I've put up 5 videos on each job explaining the new skills pros and cons.

Re: Ask a Magician Thread.
Hope I still get answer from this thread. The thread is like...dead :f6:
How would you rate kanna compared to other magician classes in terms of various aspects: training, bossing, survivability, mobility, ease of funding.....anything you can think of?
She seems to have very good party utility, so she should be popular in parties (even more than bishops?).

Training: Decent. Mobbing skills are good, but there is no way to regenerate Mana other than waiting (or Potion Pot, does that still work?), so you'll be falling back on Shikigami Haunting a lot.
Bossing: Not very high damage output, but having two Binds is a major plus, along with having Bellflower Barrier for that extra %Boss (if it works, who knows what Nexon has done to the Sengoku classes).
Survivability: Haku's Foxfire mitigates a lot of damage, but Haku can only cast it every once in a while (30 seconds or 60 seconds in between casts, I forget). They also get Blossom Barrier which is -30% damage, but the range is fairly small. Decent for bossing, not so much for training.
Mobility: Ether Pulse has a fairly large range. Nothing terrible like pre-RED Buccaneers, but not top-tier like Xenon or Angelic Buster.
Ease of Funding: Most fans are quite a bit cheaper in comparison to weapons that more popular classes use (2H Swords, Whip Blades, etc.). %INT is also fairly cheap compared to the other stats, but it can be quite hard to find.
I think you covered essentially everything, and yes, Kannas are amazing to have in bossing parties (2 binds, Bellflower Barrier, blah blah). Bishops aren't even that useful any more, since a lot of bosses rely on Death Counts, and Wheels of Destiny are a thing.
Re: Ask a Magician Thread.
Few things to add to the decent list above:
- Bellflower Barrier does work fully as intended these days.
- Foxfire nullifies status effects (including seduce, pote lock, transform, etc.) as well as some 1hko attacks (e.g. arkarium's full screen 1hko), do not underestimate how useful this is especially if your %status resist is low, which Kanna's is. Foxfire is basically the only reason I can stay alive and deal mostly consistent damage at most end-game bosses.
- Ether Pulse has one of the largest vertical ranges in the game for a teleport skill (we're talking basically off your screen both up and down).
- End-game fans are annoying to find and even more annoying to scroll, and chances are you'll be scrolling your own.
- Kanna and Hayato, other than Hypers, haven't been revamped since release and show no signs of being revamped in the future. This might leave them at a damage disadvantage in the future, in the face of KMS's aggressive revamp schedule.

There's no potion pot in msea. What does it do anyway? :f6:
For bossing, are they average compared to other classes or as horribly weak as merc and pre-RED phantom?
Oh yeah, forgot to ask: is kanna able to negate physical resistance from bosses like archmages/lumi/evan/windbreaker/post-RED pally/striker?
Survivability-wise, does it mean that kanna relies on HP just like battle mage? How high is her HP?

So, is there still bug with kanna now?
Nice effect from foxfire. Does it also work against %HP attacks?

It's okay, our kanna will probably be buggy as hell since it's pre-hypers
