Meso Explosion Blues.

To start off, these were my original obvservations.

I decided to test Devil's statement.

5th Damage number = Meso Bag 5,10,15,(20 -> Amount of mesos = Not important) - Each More Bag = Higher Bonus Multiplier
4th Damage number = Meso Bag 4,9,14,(19 -> Amount of mesos = Not important) - Each More Bag = Higher Bonus Multiplier
3rd Damage number = Meso Bag 3,8,13,(18 -> Amount of mesos = Not important) - Each More Bag = Higher Bonus Multiplier
2nd Damage number = Meso Bag 2,7,12,(17 -> Amount of mesos = Not important) - Each More Bag = Higher Bonus Multiplier
1st Damage number = Meso Bag 1,6,11,(16 -> Amount of mesos = Not important) - Each More Bag = Higher Bonus Multiplier

Most effective damage = dropping 15x 8k Mesos + 5x 10 Mesos

I also read through Xaile's thread about M.E. on SW. (from November 2006)

First thing I learned, the last five bags of mesos still don't do damage to a monster. I tested this by seperating fifteen bags and five bags and exploding both while one monster was on the five and another on the fifteen. The one on the five bags received no damage.

Second thing I learned is, the amount of the last five mesos, #16-20, does make a difference.
These are the damages I saw-

Fifteen x Amount with drops #16-20 as 10 Mesos : Damage
1ks: 10k-16k
5ks: 35k-45k
50ks: 50k-75k

Fifteen x Amount with drops #16-20 as 50k Mesos : Damage
1ks: 15k-20k
5ks: 45k-62k
50ks: 93k-132k

Fifteen 10 mesos with #16-20 as 50ks : Damage
10mesos : 700-900
At^ - I wanted to be sure that the last five meso bags weren't really doing damage, but were still adding to the damage of mesos #1-15.

I then decided to test the "Most effective damage" on Bigfoot. Three Bigfoot were used. Each started at full HP. (32m HP)

Bigfoot #1: 15x 8ks + 5x 10 Mesos. Total amount used: 8.2m Mesos.
Bigfoot #2: All 8ks Mesos. Total amount used: 9m Mesos.
Bigfoot #3: All 5ks Mesos. Total amount used: 7m Mesos.

*This leads me to ask, what do you personally consider the "most effective" mesos/damage? I use 5ks. A friend uses 3ks. Another friend is too pro for M.E. now.

Mejust Wrote:If you explode more than one bags, there's a damage multiplier in effect which goes up to 1.5 after some bags. I don't know after how many bags that is, though.
I would like to request a Meso Explosion Damage Formula if possible.

No ME damage formula is known to me. As far as I know, the damage formula has not been found and is too big/made up of too many variables to accurately construct.

I think SpiraeaKozak on SW might be right, or atleast close. I'm just not sure if this would be considered outdated or inaccurate info. Anyways, this is what SpiraeaKozak had posted as a formula.

Quote:Meso Explosion works in a wierd way. The damage of a set of mesos that is exploded is as follows:

Min Dam per set: (Meso + 34) x 7.8 x Mastery x 50%
Max Dam per set: (Meso + 34) x 7.8 x Mastery

If you explode more than 5 sets at a go, the damage will be combined into only 5 values (or is it 6?). No damage is lost.

If you explode more than 15 sets at a go, anything beyond 15 will not be considered.

There also exists a bonus damage that is invisible. This bonus damage is dependant on the number of bags you explode at a go.

Bonus damage multiplier: Bags x Bags / 400

So, if you explode 10 sets of 1000 mesos at 100% mastery (spending 10000 mesos), you will do
Min Dam per set: (1000 + 34) x 7.8 x 100% x 50% = 4032.6
Max Dam per set: 8065.2
Ave Dam per set: (4032.6 + 8065.2) / 2 = 6048.9
Ave Dam of all sets: 10 x 6048.9 = 60489
Bonus multiplier: 10 x 10 / 400 = 25%
Total Ave Dam of all sets: 60489 + 60489 x 25% = 75611.25

If you explode 18 sets of 500 mesos at 90% mastery (spending 9000 mesos), you will do
Min Dam per set (500 + 34) x 7.8 x 90% x 50% = 1874.34
Max Dam per set: 3748.68
Ave Dam per set: (1874.34 + 3748.68) / 2 = 2811.51
Ave Dam of all sets: 15 x 2811.51 = 42172.65 (only the first 15 are considered)
Bonus multiplier: 18 x 18 / 400 = 81% (but all 18 are used to calculate the bonus)
Total Ave Dam of all sets: 42172.65 + 42172.65 x 81% = 76332.4965

So, essentially, you can do this to maximize your damage while saving mesos. Exploding 15 sets of 450 mesos and 5 sets of 10 mesos at 96% mastery (spending only 6800 mesos) will do
Min Dam per set (450 + 34) x 7.8 x 96% x 50% = 1812.096
Max Dam per set: 3624.192
Ave Dam per set: (1812.096 + 3624.192) / 2 = 2718.144
Ave Dam of all sets: 15 x 2718.144 = 40772.16
Bonus multiplier: 20 x 20 / 400 = 100%
Total Ave Dam of all sets: 40772.16 + 40772.16 x 100% = 81544.32

I hope these examples will tell you enough about Meso Explosion.

I guess this is as far it goes.

I'm pretty sure the best damage/mesos ratio is at 1 meso and it scales down from there.

That's actually a confirmed fact. If you drop 10 mesos and explode it with lvl1 ME, you'll have a damage multiplier of 7x for min till 15x for max. If you drop 50k and explode it with lvl1 ME, you'll have a damage multiplier of less than 1, but that's only a guess based on the few explosions I did with those bags.

I will take this as my final answer: "Another friend is too pro for M.E. now."

In the end ME will be out-shadowed on bosses by assassinate/BS, but it is still probably the higher damage dealer until 140+. I wouldn't say that nobody uses it past 105 (people still ME gobies/Himes through 12x) as even I still do (MEing HT legs, and for kicks and giggles of course), but it definitely is not as good anymore. As said above, there are so many variables that it is hard to find an exact formula.
