Yes, they may be risky to use, but they get useful recovery moves; the marvelous Leech Seed; they can stun, poison or induce sleep; they are affected by sunny (and sometimes rainy) weather; some are bulky, some are really fast. To sum it up, they have a variety of tricks to overcome their weaknesses.
