Oh jeez you'll be fine! I've been writing stories with dark themes and even graphic violence since early high school. I just had a character stomp a puppy to death in my final story for a writing class in college. Sure some people were probably all googly-eyed and thought, "oh, he's THAT kid," but I've never been in any trouble. Anyone who actually knows me knows I'm like a pacifist and can't even kill anything that isn't an insect. lol

Just keep your writing "tasteful" and don't go overboard on the detail. Nothing wrong with including rape in your story, but it might be pushing it if you describe the rape in great detail. Know what I mean? Regardless, don't be a platypus and censor yourself. Screw censorship. Don't do your story an injustice.
