7.0 earthquake hits myanmar.
#1
Quote:YANGON, Myanmar (AP) — A monitoring agency says a 7.0-magnitude earthquake has hit northeastern Myanmar.
The quake struck near the Southeast Asian country's borders with Thailand and Laos, about 70 miles (110 kilometers) from the northern Thai city of Chiang Rai.
It struck at a depth of 140 miles (230 kilometers) — exceptionally deep. But it could be felt as far away as Bangkok, where buildings swayed.

There are at least 1 confirmed death in Thailand; that unfortunate person was crushed by a wall.

As Bangkok felt it too, Asiasoft has to delay SC to prevent more damage.

That country is known as Birma, facist dictator government renamed it to that name, but that name not recognized by the United Nations nor the USA.

Use Birma instead please! Smile

Ok, I realize that earthquakes happen every single day all around the world and while it does suck, it is part of the natural process of this planet. My only issue is the tsunami comments that have been added to many of the press releases on this quake. Do they have to put that in the story? No. But it seems like now because of what happened in Japan we are going to hear that every time. This quake was pretty far inland and would not be able to cause a tsunami, yet many press releases just had to say that no tsunami warnings were sent out. Kind of pointless to even mention it if it has no chance to cause one if you ask me.

Anyway, I hope everyone in the region is ok.

This is God punishing the world for America electing Obama...

on topic: This is awful. I hope this chain of tragedies stops soon so that these people can begin to rebuild their lives. I can't imagine the sort of fear or anxiety the people living in these areas must be feeling, not knowing if another earthquake will hit.

7.0 doesn't feel that bad if you realize it's 100x weaker than Japan's :3.

I hope the Lady is alright.

Not sure how Obama relates to this thread, but lets try to stay on topic here. There is no need for trolling.

Anyway, here is more info on this: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110324/ap_o...duaXR1ZGU-

You kidding? Obama is entirely responsible. He should have seen this coming and done something to prevent it. The system has clearly failed Myanmar.

It's clearly obama's responsibilty.

And @rick.

It's preparing for a massive shift where china will sink, europe will overlap it, the united states will be wiped by the biggest wave in history, and australia will be laughing at all of us.

Well, it IS nearing 2012 after all. Added thrill. I'd say it would be too bland for non-believers (read:everybody) had there been no such things.
Though I can't say dying people are acceptable. Sucks when we've come so far and are still pretty much helpless against mother nature.

So the facists win I guess... :/

US government / EU uses Burma, as protest against the facist government...

P.S. In Dutch it's called Birma, since 1634...
