It's amazing how many of these Namco pump out when all but two of them are completely awful. (Tales of the Abyss and Destiny 2/Eternia are the exceptions. In no way could they be considered great games but they're very playable, maybe even enjoyable. And in comparison to any other Tales of... game, they're masterpieces. But only in comparison.)
TALES OF TAILS WAIT FOR IT... WAIT FOR IT. Providence Wrote:Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and Dragon Quest. I'm afraid the Tales series might be heading down that road, as well. Myself from 8 days ago agrees!

"might be" implies that all or even MOST of the games to this point have been anything more than cringeworthy.
edit: oh wait we're not discussing which games are good. my bad.
but they've been whoring for a long time, still. at one point recently they had like 3 games on the slate for release.

Tales of Symphonia had a forgettable storyline, though the gameplay managed to keep me interested. I suppose I used "might be" as not to offend any fanboys in the audience tonight.

Not defending Namco, and also, yes, Namco is milking people and screwing them over by releasing a "lolUPDATED" version of Tales of Vesperia for the PS3, with a new character! Some of the Tales I personally enjoyed and have played:
1) Tales of Eternia <-the best, IMO. I loved this game. My 1st friggin Tales.
2) Tales of Symphonia <- wasn't bad, but I really didn't see the hype, when I dissed Symphonia, I had Kratos fanboys and girls all over my ass.
3) Tales of Phantasia <- awesome.
4) Tales of the World series <- UGH!!!! MILKED
5) TotW: RM1 <-Refer to #4
I feel bad for Vesperia, it IS a good game, but Namco just had to make the game look BAD just by making a new updated PS3 version of it, only barely after a year after the original was released for the 360. That's bull. They never did that before for any Tales games.. So yes, Tales might be heading downhill... -_-; Hopefully they won't do that to Tales of Graces, and just let it be the way it is.

Not only that, but Tales of Vesperia was marketed as an XBOX 360 EXCLUSIVE game.
They then subsequently released an updated, improved PS3 version, with FULL Voice Acting, improved graphics, expanded story line, an additional character, more skills, more minigames, etc.
i.e. A LOT OF pomegranate.
And yes, they did it for Tales of Symphonia. Symphonia got a PS2 Port with significant additional story content despite being marketed as a GCN exclusive.
Hopefully, Graces won't suffer the same fate, but I'm not that skeptical about it.
And for the record, Tales of Vesperia PS3 sold more copies its first week than the 360 version, which sold a very significant amount in the first place.

Final Fantasy 13 was marketed SOLELY as a ps3 game and is now coming out for both consoles. One of the perks initially was that it was supposed to come out before the XBox 360 version, but now it's being pushed to the same release date. ANNND to top it off, the game is being intentionally worsened so it fits onto a 360 disc. So yeah, no point bitching about losing exclusives, especially when they're GAINING from the port.

Truth is, FF and Tales are both heavily advertised RPG series, everyone knows that. Plus, with it's large fanbase, they will continue to milk these games, because of the fans. Some fans will just buy these games because "IT'S TALES!" or "IT'S FINAL FANTASY!", and that's enough reason for them to make these games. As long as there's a fanbase, these games will continue to exist. I like Tales, in fact, I'm addicted to it. But I also critique the story of each individual Tales games, and have opinions that are different from most Tales fans. I won't always like it just because it's Tales, believe it or not. I thought TotW:RM1 was pretty boring...
