Assassin Questions - From a newb - Tristan - 2011-07-13
I have a level 44 assassin right now, and I am regular Dex. I am planning on capping it eventually, but all my equips are going to be about LUK so I can maximize my damage potential. Right now I do 600-1100 per star (with critical hits). So, when is a good time to cap my DEX? My current equips suck and only grant +17 LUK and +3 DEX. I am going to eventually get a good LUK sauna, a good LUK pink adventurers cape, and a 10 ATK work glove. I also want to get a black belt from the dojo if I ever reach level 75, which grants +5 ALL. After that I really don't know what- OH I need to get a good claw, and from what I heard, a good end-game claw should be 80 ATK or higher. This would be very hard to get with low DEX I presume, but I still am adding DEX, so knowing when to cap it would be good.
(PS - If anyone has an abandoned thief on Scania with Illbis Stars or a Maple claw or Kandayo, I would be willing to take them off your hands. Great, now I sound like a begger...)

Going normal dex and then getting luk sauna, pac, and a wg doesn't make much sense. If you're normal dex, wear the correct equipment for your level. Otherwise you're way better off just being dexless/low-dex.
Dex is probably the easiest stat to get, cap it early. My claw's not quite 80 atk, but, you know, give it a few scrolls and it would be.

Also, FYI, Maple Warrior only multiplies base stats, so the higher your base luk (and equivalently the more dex your gear adds) the better the bonus you get from Maple Warrior. So it is a good idea to buy dex gear and stay low dex.

Should I just start over and make a new character then? Cause what your telling me makes a lot of sense.. My DEX is 88 right now... I can get to level 37 in about 4 hours so I wouldn't be that far behind... I don't have my good equips yet, but eventually... How did you get that claw to get 12 ATK? Did it come that way?

Making a character with a lot fewer stats than normal is pretty easy these days, even with lack of funding.
For example, with the recent patch in GMS, the alchemy profession allows you to Fuse equipment together, which may result in a potential item- Once you have a decent amount of money to afford the NPC equips (or if you could fuse low level common equips), you can fuse them together for a chance at potential stats. I've done that with level 40 thief gears and made pants that have +5 all stat potential and + 2 dex clean. Also once you get to a decent level, you can make an extractor for people to use to disassemble stuff. By charging a decent price for a while, you may even make a profit off of it!
Stars are pretty common these days as well- so common in fact, people would rather drop the lower attack ones. Key point of assassins- quantity >> quality. Someone may have 2 sets of steelys, and you may have 10 sets of wooden tops. Who is going to train longer?
I'd also save a bunch of money and just level up. Since the beginning of my buccaneer, I've managed to save up to 100mil just from looting and selling the equips i get at an NPC. You may also want to hang around the profession town to loot the "crappy" items people drop- funded jewelers are often just dropping their crafted rings, and even if they don't apply stat bonuses, they provide you other stats like defense and avoidability (and your equip inventory will look fuller
)You have some high priced items you are aiming for. Save up a bunch of mesos to buy a zhelm or level up enough to join a friendly guild that will boss run with you. Just from those connections alone, i've managed to get a free targa helm, a free mark of naricain, and a bunch of my skill books.
-Get as much free stuff as you can- loot anything and everything.
To make money training,find places where you can snipe things with L7. you'll only use a few potions to loot and to attack.
