Soooo... a new PQ, with rewards as boxes spitting out Elixirs and crap and Lvl80-tier Lvl70 weapons. Doesn't seem like the new class will be Greece-related then. Sad, here's hoping I get to see a swarm of Zeus' offsprings running around saving Maple World.

If its new class, I'm 100&#37; sure that it will be Legend. I recall Nexon saying that they would finish legends 2011.

There better be an event to explain this odd happening. Or it could also be some big changes to how Legends/Resistance work?

OH PLEASE NEXON, give Arans some kickass new skills and boost us over any other job. Give us shadow partner and SE like you gave for DB. Boost our hp to double of the current and give us legendary HB (+80% hp to whole party).

Man, came in hoping for something amazing based on the title... found something GMS won't do like they didn't limit DB's. Not that I think this is permanent, but it's still something that GMS would very likely ignore. Also thinking the possibility that they're making a "legendary" box because there's too many boxes now.

Okay, now that IS "They're doing WHAT?!" worthy.

The translator might mean "choosing your job when you create a character". As in, they are making a new page where you choose what char you want to make. If they are making more classes that page really needs an overhaul as it is cluttered already.

That's definitely intersting..though I don't seem much of a purpose to relocate the "job advancment" levels. Maybe evan considering how long it takes to get all the skills. 16x seems a tad extreme.

This better not be gone all together. WHY THOSE WHY NOT CYGNUS! I guess the only logical explanation could be that they want to just cut them off for the testing process so people focus on the new class. I guess, this is just my two cents I would think that so many people would abuse Tespia as a pserver to use the other classes. So this could be smart. Just not in the real server. They're just grayed not removed like dual blade right Fiel?

Maybe I'm way off base but it looks like they're saying you'll need to have an Evan in order to create a Resistance character. Would make sense given Evan's story, and they could further and even intertwine them with Evan joining the Resistance to make up for his wrongdoing.

The reason for the surprise is that I expected, y'know, traditional PQ stuff - the boxes, medals, small accessories or trinkets to make this unique. Bam, new content done, formula applied, it's over.

But this is a bit out of left field, don't you think?

Why would they permanently remove all the classes they've been working on for the past 2 years? Come on now. It looks like they're just disabling the creation of those classes to introduce a new class creation system, and maybe new jobs.

Making it so you actually have to unlock classes would be pretty neat, but google translate isn't exactly accurate so who knows.

Actually, it's quite accurate it's just some languages can't be translated all the way correctly. When normal people translate it they would rephrase it for it to make sense.

No it isn't. Have you tried Google Translator for Japanese and Spanish? The problem with google is that it translates it directly, not correctly.

Does this mean an advancement overhaul for adventurers or legends and resistance? Either they're removing these classes so only adventurers and cygnus can be tested, or they're still working on the new advancement system.

I'm just thinking they're going to change the storyline or something. I mean...a balancing patch could be just done in Tespia, ya know.

I'm crossing my fingers for a Mechanic nerf.

Just quickly wrote this as a "what I'd like to see if my theory about Evan unlocking Resistance is right".

At level 70 you finish the final quest for Hiver and find out you've been working for the Blackwings and that all Evan and Mir have done has been harmful to the Maple world. Swearing to make it up, Evan begins researching the Blackwings. He is pointed in the direction of Edelstein where he finds the secret organization known as The Resistance is working to thwart the revival of the Black Magician. He is put through several tests for the next several levels to prove that he's dedicated and able to work for their cause. Finally he is introduced to a new member, which would take you to the Resistance creation screen, much like the initial Cygnus creation.

From there, Evan and the Resistance characters could communicate through messages (just quests in game that are in the form of letters) and follow up leads for each other. Obviously, the Resistance member would also have their own set of quests from within the city but it would be a really nice way to begin tying stories together in preparation for the battle with the Black Magician.

Well, they're still re-balancing the game. No new classes, just more balancing and reforming of the system. I'm guessing they're reforming how a lot of the classes are implemented; they're all rather un-uniform and kind of makeshift inserted.

Aran from going to Rien at lv 50?
Evan from getting an aran to lv *level when you get pole arm toss goes here* (so that they have to fight the plants evan helps make)
And unlocking Resistance when Evan gets to fight the Gentleman.

Definitely sounds good.

Except that in GMS Evan skills require NX. It would be perfectly fine otherwise. Oh well, by the time we get this I'll already have made a Mechanic so I probably won't care. It's nice to see that they're changing the system though.

NEXON's done some crazy things before man.I think the unlocking would be kinda just weird. I mean sure it would be cool but why do that now? What would be the point?You would jut ditch your other class for the one you wanted anyway.

They're compressing the job creating process.

Since aran and evan characters had 2 different slots on the character select screen, they're compressing it into one slot to make space. As for the resistance, they're probably closing them down like the dual blades, who knows.

A UI reorganization should not cause them to shut down creation of characters. The UI can easily be changed by client-side edits.

My idea on it:
They're removing every class and just remaking the entire "Maple story"

My thinking is that they're doing an Adventurer-system redux for the new classes. So basically you start out as a beginner (or whatever Legend-class alternative they have for that, sort of like how they did a citizen for Resistance), and then you branch out to whatever class you choose to advance to. And then later they add new branches as they are completed, sort of how they did it with Pirates.

Only flaw with my theory is that storylines for Legends are going to have to be drastically altered. It doesn't explain why Resistance is blocked for creation either.

Just my 2&#162;.

The big link regarding Aran, Evan, and the Resistance classes appears to be their quests (maybe extending into their job advancement process). None of the other classes had a significant number of story-related quests extending throughout 2nd job.

Were the Aran and Evan quests altered in any way after Big Bang? For example, I think Aran had a 6x skill quest involving Elin Forest before Big Bang, but the Elin Forest mobs got shoved into the 7x range after Big Bang. And with the new accuracy formula...

From what I understand, they're making prerequisites for making aran and evan. Or perhaps they're expanding the story so the characters can be linked up. With the new empress blessing skill, I wouldn't be surprised they're doing something in regards for legends and resistance. Aran and evan have always been recommended for experienced players only. Remember how dual blade is limited time in KMS, and permanent in GMS. So I doubt any limiting class creation there will affect GMS.

well, unfortunately..... maplestory is the most repetitive MMO... no offence, none of the quests are worth doing for the rewarded exp.. If it's not for the "EQs", I wouldnt even bother reading them... if you wanted a quest based rewarding MMO try guild wars instead... u'll be in max level within 1-3 days (just by questing)..... maplestory? not even lvl100 in 3 days worth of playing... it's just endless grinding period.. (mind you that's not including bossing / boss stages / PQ)... I'm solely talking on "how-to" level up effectively here. And compared it to a quest-based lvling system like guild wars, it's way way different.

/back to the topic/

It'll be interesting how they'll restructured it. I don't think they'll close down the creation of the new classes. Just don't make any sense.

If it's not for the "EQs", I wouldnt even bother reading them... if you wanted a quest based rewarding MMO try guild wars instead... u'll be in max level within 1-3 days (just by questing)..... maplestory? not even lvl100 in 3 days worth of playing... it's just endless grinding period.. (mind you that's not including bossing / boss stages / PQ)... I'm solely talking on "how-to" level up effectively here. And compared it to a quest-based lvling system like guild wars, it's way way different.

It'll be interesting how they'll restructured it. I don't think they'll close down the creation of the new classes. Just don't make any sense.

This IS the exact mentality problem !!! I'm not sure if you've ever played guild wars b4. In there, you don't ever nid to worry about leveling at all. The "no -worrying" of lvling and just 'questing' rewards players to quests, which are much more attractive than the endless grinding aka repetitiveness that we're talking here !!!

Not to mention about the large disparity created in the maple world between high levelers and low levelers.
E.g.
1) Quests that required certain levels
2) You are generally being look down if u're low-lvlers in maple. (with the added insults from higher-level players)

The fun is to quest, and get rewards, while yet at the same time, growth in lvling (not thru grinding but thru quests rewarding exp). And maple has failed (just IMHO) in balancing this out.

All I'm seeing now in maplers nowadays are the, 'where're the training spots' more than the 'how-do-you-do-this-quest'?
Not including the 'economy of maple' which well...... just arent suited for new players. :f7:

While I agree the primary leveling source should be quests, I don't believe that getting to the cap within a week is fun at all. It's just boring IMO =/. An MMO is supposed to keep feeding you new stuff to keep you hooked onto the game, not let you get to the highest point you can get right when you start.

If I remember, Black Wings used Evan to retrieve some of those stones. I vaguely remember a quest like that.
I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to tie in the characters more.

Cygnus try to intervene -> Failed -> Aran is revived -> Aran is bamboozled -> Evan finds Mir -> Evan is manipulated by Black Wings -> Black Mage is revived -> Evan is feeling trolled -> Resistance is created

Once again, that video is the result of potential system + retarded amounts of cubing giving those people fat 6-digit damage ranges. You think an average Mechanic will be able to solo Pap in less than 30 seconds, you're wrong.

Uhu, and to add to this: Bosses will become easier with BB, that is fact. However it will not be much different from now in terms of relative power. Some of us solo Zakum in less than 30 min pre BB, some could not even do it in 2 hours.

And @ the idea of having to unlock characters - I highly doubt Nexon would do something like that. They already tried something similar with Cygnus and they eventually got rid of that.

Nothing is really new with the ultimate adventurer, it's just premium mode the first few lvls.

iirc all ultimate adventurers have that normal adventurers can't get is the neat outfit.
They get the skills sooner, but normal adventures can do quests for them.

Everyone on the account a level 120 Cygnus is on gets a 24 attack buff.

There's a flaw with the unlocking characters idea. New accounts only have 3 character spaces per server. If i have to make an adventurer, then a CK, then an Aran, and oops, I don't have any more room to make any other classes without deleting previous characters. Plus unlocking characters doesn't further the plot since they're all pretty much simultaneous stories. Not to mention, why make people play through classes they may not like to play to get to the ones they do want?

It's rebalancing, and renovation of the entire system of how all their job quests are done and everything. Probably creating a more standard system instead of a whole slew of random things like most hero classes are now. Plus, it's KMST. Not everything that happens in KMST goes to KMS.

If you turn the level 120 CK into a UA, do you lose the 24 attack buff? And does it have to be a new Cygnus, or can it be one that was created before the UA stuff came out?

The level 120 Cygnus doesn't turn into the ultimate adventurer, it makes a new character. Yes, this means you have to have a free character slot to make an ultimate adventurer. And it can be any Cygnus.

Easy to change it so the default is 6 free slots. They're not all simultaneous, either. They have a very diffinitive timeline that differentiates each character with the exception of adventurers. It goes Cygnus -> Evan -> Aran / Resistance. This is verified at various points like the fact that Evan gets the plant seeds which is what allows for Aran's battle at the seal stone in Orbis. At one point Evan goes to Francis' cave after several other quests and finds out Francis' is fighting or has fought someone else, that other person being Aran.

As for your final complaint, while I agree to some extent that having to play each character in order would be ridiculous, having Evan / Aran lead up to Resistance creation is not that bad of an idea and it happens ALL THE TIME in games. There are tons of games where you can't play y character until you've beaten it with x. Also keep in mind that it's SO EASY to get 100 after Big Bang that there's no reason not to endure to that point if you really want to play a Resistance character.

Also, since I'm going on about Aran and I've already built a solid reason for Evan to seek the resistance...

After losing several seal stones to the Black Wings, Aran reports back to Lilin who tells he needs to seek help because he's really screwing up (haha). He returns to his information dealer who points him in the direction of Edelstein. Bingo-bango you've got an easy story all leading up to the same point. No reason not to do it except some brats who don't want to work for resistance goodness.

Sarah's got this storyline progression thing all worked out already, complete with graphs and a chart. She'll be so disappointed if it turns out to be nothing of the sort.

Haha, yeah I've created a spreadsheet detailing it all. I'm faxing it via dial-up to Korea right now.

I'm not expecting this but to say it's out of the question when they're completely turning the way the game is played upside down is kind of ridiculous to me. So I won't be disappointed as Nexon rarely goes with good ideas, but I enjoy good ideas and I really like writing little storyline speculations like that. It's very fun for me.

Adventurers don't have a story so how can you say they share that goal? Their only concern is killing things as far as their "story" is concerned. But, it is entirely possible for any group to unlock Resistance, I've only been detailing the legendaries because they have fleshed out stories and feasible reasons to actually go there that aren't difficult to add on to.

Granted, I haven't played the game in forever, but what about Episode I? Isn't that enough storyline for adventurers?

Sure but it had nothing to do with the Black Magician. Each class was just told to go kill some animals and talk to some people until they discovered the Astaroth and his 5 underlings had been let loose. It was really, really weak, even in comparison to the Aran / Evan / Cygnus stories which aren't the best.

Adventurers don't work for the Black Mage and aren't restricted to fighting anything created or working for him. We know the Adventurers aren't evil and though they don't have a storyline it still doesn't mean they aren't fighting against the Black Mage. Hell for all we know the Black Mage isn't the real enemy and theres a bigger one. Sort of like Disney and Chernabog.\
