Okay thanks.
just making sure is 26 fire and 26 ice ok? it wont make or break me as a corsair right?
She can't do that though because she has 19 gav already.
Why not 25 Flamethrower and Ice Splitter instead of 26? o.O, that already gets you 6 targets.
Gaviota I haven't used much outside of Newtie sniping due to unwanted aggro-ing. Other than that, it's just at bosses, and the "Wooo, an army of seagulls" thing (additional 10 seconds at 21+).
I'm 178 like you with all core skills maxed, rest are
19 mw
1 hypno
1 eboost
25 strike
10 SP saved
So I can really do whatever I want lol
And strike only lags the first time it's used (for every time you come back to maple or whatever). I just use it at the start or in sign-up area.
I have a more out of the box question, for the high level pirates. What was your original class before pirate came out? I'm just curious how you all kind of transfered.
Er just ignore this if you think it's off topic.
First real main job was a CB, which was hacked and banned around late 07. From mid 08 to the summer before pirates release, i had a 7x sader. In the months before pirates release i did some PS stuff and was waiting for gunslingers.
Got my gunslinger to 2x, got really bored, quit and made a brawler.
Got my CB back when my marauder was 8x, played around for like 2 weeks, got bored.
So now here i am.
My friend brought me into this game in March '06. I made an Assassin and got it to 72 I think in... September. I got sick of having low HP ("I'll never be able to fight Pianus until like 150 or something crazy high like that!") so I made a DK. Made a bunch of friends on that thing and got it to level 106 by February '07. By then, we had gotten wind of 4th job skills that were a long time coming. I noticed that DKs were going to suck some serious ass (another misguided notion that made me change my class), so I went to Hunters, whom I had always liked anyway. I made Kaida on February 12th and got her to 141 by the time 4th job came out in January '08 (2x cards came out when I was 81, I believe). From January '08 to January '09, I stayed on Kaida and got her up to 167. I took a break from Kaida when Pirates came out to make a Buccaneer. Leeched it to 93 in about a week, then quit maple for a month or so out of boredom (and most my friends had disappeared). I get dragged back around early February '06, and I dragged Carlos back not long after I came back (he had quit because he got hacked). I trained until early April and got to 173 while Carlos' Buccaneer was in his 14x. He was starting to hate Buccs and was pining for the days of XBish again. So, on a whim, I said we should both make new characters together for some fun. So around early April, I made Kayako and he made Rafflesia. We hadn't intended to be so crazy about it, but we got up to 4th job in under a month without leeching a bit -- just by spamming 4x exp (and some 8x). We continued to train together and still train together. He's 170 and I'm 168. I made my Corsair because I thought they were a cool and versatile class -- I didn't expect them to be as powerful as they are.
I had an F/P. Kinda obvious.
2x Sin because throwing stars seems cool -> holy pomegranate this is boring -> 3x F/P -> Beta ended -> same characters again in Scania -> moved to Bera -> Fighter -> didn't like how slow they were -> CB -> quit at 9x when Ludi training got ridiculously hard, horrible build so didn't go back -> Ranger
My BM was my main before I quit MS in June '08. I loved playing a Ranger because of the speed and the huge versatility of skills. It seemed like there was a different approach to fighting every mob, and that many different builds were possible for this class. Then 4th job rolled around. I didn't make the advancement until May, I believe, but after that I really didn't get anywhere with that character because it wasn't nearly as much fun as it was before.
So I found out about Southperry in mid-July and I posted here a bit, but didn't really bother getting back on MS. In mid-October I found out Pirates were coming out, and decided I was coming back to try out a Gunslinger for fun. Back then the decision was mostly just because I prefer playing ranged classes, and everyone was mass funding and getting ready to leech their Brawlers, and I didn't want to be one of them. I wasn't expecting to get too far with this character. Be one of the first to third job, try out the skills, probably get bored of MS again, quit. That didn't go as expected.
First char was a Crusader, i liked their versatility when i saw vid's of them. I also liked how they could pop the highest damage on a single target(yay panic) and near highest damage on a mob(yay Coma). I really enjoyed this char even tho i was a little high dex(90) which was like medium - high @ the time. Also made a top 20 Warrior thread to keep me motivated since i had no access to NX and had to train without it, even made it up to 10th in bera :D but then Himes came out :( Himes were kinda my down fall as i had been THE UBER 1337 GOBY KILLER and just kinda hopped from party to party day after day. I didnt really make any long term Priest partners and ended up only gaining like 2-3 levels from the Himes patch to 4th job patch. Then i found my grooove again and came back for 4th job and went into leveling again:D. Got to 148 and said this is boring as hell...Then made a Ice Lightning Arch Mage cause well ya, Blizzard. got that to 14X and got bored and said bye bye maple cause Resistance 2 came out :D so i played that for like.. 3 months straight then KillZone2 for another month or 2. Then i got kinda bored of KillZone and one of my original friends who got me into maple in the first place had started playing again. So i hopped on 1 day and got to see how a Corsair kills in 4th job and said.. hellz ya, read up on it, decided i liked how it looks, noted how alike Corsair's and Crusaders were (great mob atks, great single Target dps, higher hp then similar chars, and versatile attacks (ice/stunning)) Got up to top Beran corsair and never looked back.^_^
Interesting. I'm considering of making a corsair but I'm hesitant. My first (probably one of the classes I will always love and miss) was my shadower. However I felt so useless at bossing I really lost the ambition for it and sold everything. I made a dk with my wife, and I'm really happy with the Drk all together. I want to get it to 150 though so I can do 6 man zak parties. As you can see corsair is nearly the opposite of what I'm used to. Both shad and drk have much more hp which makes me hesitant. I'm also concerned that it's just not my playing style. I do want a damage hore class, I don't like hero's, NL's were never my forte either. One that that really pulls me to the corsair is the summoning, freezing and of course the ship.
You all can continue your stories if you like, it's nice reading about how decisions led to where you are today.
I was a Crusader in GMS for 3 and a half years or whatever. Then I moved to P. servers for a few months and tried just about every class (mostly playing Heroes), then I moved back to JMS in June, '08. Then I made a cleric as a pre-money maker class for Pirates' release in July, '08. Then, I've been on my Viper ever since. <3
For me, I used to be an Assassin. Got extremely boring, stopped at lv60 (eventually leveled to 61 cause I was at like 75% and I was bored). So I just basically waited until Pirates came out and made a Brawler (because they looked really fun for me, and I was already a ranged class so I wanted to try something new). I was only expecting to get to about lv50-60-ish, but of course, the levels kept coming and coming and I eventually got my first 3rd and 4th job character.
