BUY OUR GUNPLA Season 2 Episode 10-11
Who would've thought the Turn A Gundam's one weakness would be its Neo Armstrong Cyclone Jet Armstrong Canon?
Episode 11 though was pretty epic. Looks like they really want to up the ante for the championship. Though some of these championship teams sure are arrogant pimentos, especially compared to the season 1 rivals.

I have no words Fukuda. Another glorious Sunrise trainwreck mecha series.
Akame Ga Kill Finale
Yep. Anime original ending. Despite my issues with the series as a whole, it was entertaining enough to keep me watching. My thoughts as a manga reader:
Spoiler
My main criticism is it relies too heavily on shock value for character deaths, rather than genuine tragedy. Maybe it's just me, but a single 5 minute expositional flashback as a character lays dying does not a tragic death make.
For a show about two opposing groups of people with superpowers fighting each other... there wasn't much fighting between them. Too much time was spent fighting forgettable weekly villains (Syura was a particularly egregious example if you follow the manga) rather than than developing a potentially morally ambiguous and interesting conflict between the Night Raid and the Jaegars. The only character I really liked out of the bunch was Wave, and the anime cut out the only two fights where he wasn't just a member of Team Rocket.
Which leads me to the basic theme. The series really tries to hammer home early on that Night Raid's actions are morally reprehensible and should not be viewed as heroic, but nearly all the people they assassinate are so utterly devoid of morality, sympathy, subtlety, or personality that's it's hard for me to view them as morally gray or unjustified in their actions. The only exception to this was the death of Bors. Outside of that, the series never really developed a sense of moral dilemma. Could have been interesting if the series explored the possibility of Night Raid having to assassinate people who didn't actually deserve it but posed enough of a threat to their rebellion to merit their attention.
The animation was hit or miss at times. There were some well animated fight scenes, such as in the Akame vs Exdeath fight, but there were plenty of speedlines as well
Overall, entertaining enough as a shonen action series, but nothing too special.
Unlimited Blade Works 10
Finally time for Shirou to man up.
I think this show is split-cour, right?

Re: Currently Airing Anime
Watched nearly all of Inou Battle Wa Nichijou no Naka De today, and I really like it, but goddamn...
Why is it always the worst girl who gets the most attention, and the one the protagonist eventually falls for?. It annoys the hell out of me when the plainest, most boring girl on the cast is the main female character, usually with a last minute back story thrown in for good measure.
Like seriously all the other girls are awesome, especially Hakoto who is by far the best girl, yet everytime she gets an episode about her it gets sidetracked by Tomoyo instead who just gets force fed into the show in every way.
It just.. arghhhh. Give all the girls equal screentime or don't bother. what is the point of romance plots like this when you know exactly which girl is endgame because of how forced into the plot she is.
I have only watched one anime before where this was subverted, I think it was Haganai, I don't have many friends, or something like that. But basically the main girls were shafted in season 2 in favour of the nerdy comic relief girl who was in the background compared to the others, and she ended up being the most interesting character on the show.

Re: Currently Airing Anime
I'm pretty sure it was always conveyed that Tomoyo was the character closest to him. She was the one that he turned to most for the important conversations because as Hatoko put it, she doesn't understand a pineappleing thing he says. From the very start, with her picking a cool name, or being the one to discuss about Mirei's name/power, LN advice, her brother, and then finding out that she was the influence on why he's so pineappleing autistic and she was in the past.
I always thought Sayumi was a background character. She's the least developed in terms of her relationship and role in the group, and I thought that would be a trigger towards something that Sagami was plotting, but that didn't pan out since she punched him in the face. So she's a strong independent woman.
Overall, it was quite the enjoyable show, but for how much Mirei was in the ED, she was sorely lacking from the overall cast. The final fight was quite interesting, but there were more questions than answers in the aftermath. I did see a lot of questions over why /* Tomoyo's brother didn't care whether she died or not */ and do people even watch the show? /* When you die in the fairy war, you lose your power and memory of the war and come back to life */
Selector Spread WIXOSS: Just finished this today, though it ended a week or so ago? Was a pretty interesting ending and second half, and I enjoyed it more than the first season. The whole mahou shoujo selector is suffering direction was darkened even more when you find out the reason why it happens. /* Mayu wanted everyone to suffer like her :) */ But the resolution to it was also quite interesting since /* she was dead at that point and her wish had been warped from wanting to give everyone choices to giving everyone pomegranatety choices */. The teases at the end after the songs should have been more conclusive after the butterfly scene.
Fate/Stay Night - Unlimited Blade Works: This is why everyone hates Shirou.
Madan no Ou to Vanadis: I enjoyed this show, but the whole "tactical view" thing was rather annoying, especially with some random narrator. Would have been more interesting if it was one of the War Maidens who voiced it over each time.
Overall, Tigre was pretty pineappleing badass with that bow. I quite liked Leonora and Ludmila as well. Ludmila shocking got more character development than Leonora in my opinion. We don't find anything about Leonora's background until that final episode, but the one with Ludmila was quite good and her overall character presentation afterwards was well done. Can't say I would look forward to more content though, since it's been stated it becomes quite pomegranatety in the next arc.
Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Quite an enjoyable show, especially with the latter half's more serious tone. Fu's breakdown and then Togo's devastation were quite interesting. But the ending was an asspull. /* Would have been more memorable with everyone dying, but we all know god does pineapple all and you have to work your own way out of the pomegranate you get yourself into he drags you into. */
Trinity Seven: Kind of one of those guilty pleasure shows I suppose. MC was decently badss actually, and he had the motivation and stuff, but hardly got the chance to do anything; the cast was a bit larger and as such, we didn't get to see much development of individuals, not that there ever is much in any harem. It feels like they glazed over a lot of supplementary information. From what I can gather, Trinity Seven isn't some random garbled Japanglish, but it actually means the seven who have achieved or are closest to achieving the highest ability in the three powers of each theme, of which there are seven. As such, they are very powerful mages. But we don't ever really get to see that at all. This does seem like one of those stories that can have a legitimate harem end though.
Yama no Susume S2:AOTY. Quite a good show for coming from a short to get a half-slot full season. The cast is quite nice though I can understand why people might not like Asumi Kana and Iguchi Yuka. AoixHinata is such a good pairing though (it's not yuri you'll just wish it was). Damn. Could have used some more KaedexYuuka. It's a very good "Cute girls doing cute things" + Slice of Life type of show. I guess it reminds me a bit of Hidamari Sketch in that regard, except with energy and they actually go outside, as opposed to that soothing relaxation. Really makes me want to go outside more. And then I realise everything is pomegranate here so I don't.
Here's all of season 1 which is only 37 minutes.
Cross Ange: So the quality is in the pomegranateter right now. The twist wasn't really unexpected. I mean. It was unexpected that it would physically occur like that, that quickly. But the overall outcome of that was expected. Not sure what to say when I see people praising this story. MUH GENOCIDE.
Log Horizon: Akatsuki arc was a bit dragged. Shiroe's battle was more interesting but I still think there could have been more to it. The upcoming plot with that abused fox is a bit unsettling. That was pretty harsh.
Shirobako: pineappleing Anno. I can't believe they did that.
>did you watch ava
nope.avi
oooohhhh boy. This nigger right here. All this talk. Meanwhile 4.0.
It's nice to finally see the old man show the kids how to do things.
Sad we don't see much of the other cast doing anything because if it did show them, it'd just be depressing watching them fail.
Yowamushi Pedal Grande Tour: How can they drag this on for so long. It's amazing. I think two episodes depicted the exact same thing.
World Trigger: Holy pineapple. This is going to be 50 episodes. Are they stretching a 1 cour budget to do that or something because that would explain their animation OR THERE LACK OF. HAHAHAHAHA the animation is pomegranate. It started worse than any of this season's shows are ending at.
Still have a bunch of things on hold that I'll be catching up with. First on the list is Hitsujikai which I found surprisingly interesting at episode 5 onward from where I left of earlier. REALLY liking Kodachi.
Since it is the end of the year, let's do this:
AOTY
Best Anime of the Year:
Spoiler
Haikyuu!!
Really impressed me. It showed a lot of passion and a lot of action. Very sports. Very dramatic. Very bold. The animation was astounding, and they kept very good quality throughout its entire run. The pacing of the series was very good, and kept me at edge each week. The games were dramatized in their speed, like any sport, since you can't actually do anything in the realistic split seconds that occur, but they were amazingly well done. The final play in the final episode was remarkable. And what a way to leave it off. Perfect place to stop. Can't wait for season 2.
Honourable Mentions: Winter:Mikakunin de Shinkoukei
What an amazingly cute and hilarious slice of life romcom. An amazing debut by Yoshida Yuri and an overall newbie female cast with very few (like less than 5) titles to their names, but it was by far the best Winter show. I think these VA have a great future ahead of them after their work here. Spring (Alternative):No Game No Life
haters gonna hate. I quite enjoyed NGNL. It really captured something special for me in the overall portrayal, especially in the battle against Jibril. It probably is overrated, but it had something just clicked for me. It's a shame about the tracing scandal. Summer:Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
Extremely underrated comedy, and by far the best comedy of the year in my opinion. Ozawa Ari's portrayal of herselfChiyo (apparently, she was told that her own personality for the audition fit the role perfectly) was amazing. It's an extremely impressive first main role and I hope to see more of her in the future. Fall:Unlimited Blade Works
ufotable movie bd tier animation garcher etc. Can't really say there's much competition with this in this season, though I did feel the final episode didn't end as strongly as it could have since it's leading into a split cour. Also known as Everybody Hates Shirou.
Worst Anime of the Year:
Spoiler
Mahou Sensou
I really just can't emphasize enough how bad this show is. It is literally the worst show I have ever completed. It's just constantly losing, cockblocking, NTRing, losing, and then the pineappleing ending where they time travel and I personally got the feeling it was going to be "I'm my own father" type of plot. But seriously. Not only was the animation quite bad, the main character had no pineappleing stones. Superqt3.14 childhood friend wants him. They pretend to be boyfriend/girlfriend. He ignores her. Loli shows up. He... kinda wants her? I couldn't really tell. He at least wanted to protect her. But he sure as pineapple couldn't since he's weak as pineapple and then has his god damn sword taken from him? By his brother who's trying to NTR his fake girlfriend because he accidentally crippled him etc. pineapple. makes me mad remembering this show.
Honourable Mentions: Witchcraft Works
I'm actually surprised so many people liked this. MC was literally useless and only acted as a battery to power MH. MH was emotionless pile of firepower. But I guess that's a lot of shows nowadays. Wizard Barristers: Benmashi Cecil
Holy pineapple this was also bad. It started out pretty good actually but devolved into no budget and an extremely pomegranatety story. All that budget spent on CGI robots that had no plot importance. Thanks ARMS. Black Bullet
Again, this started like it could be quite good. Especially with that loli harem. But boy was I wrong. Animation quality dropped like a brick. Story became really bad. They had all these hints about the Gastrea /* being previously human */ but that went nowhere. The episodes with the actual full on war fights were terrible. MC basically gets court marshaled. Then the general dies and he replaces him. The final scene where Kisara a pomegranate went full insane. I wanted to like this show and I wanted it to be good but it was bad.
And then there's all those unremarkable harems that went from bad to worse.
There's quite a few other very bad shows this year but I don't want to dwell on that.
I'm really a song guy though so this will be big. Opening of the Year:
Spoiler
Aldnoah.Zero:Heavenly Blue - Kalafina
Sadly, I cannot find a version on youtube because muh copyright, but the song itself and the actual Opening animation were constructed extremely well. It's lyrically very good, both the TV size and the full song, and the actual sequences throughout the opening animation were exceptional. It really set the mood for the start of each episode (regardless of how good or badly the show ended) and it will probably remain as one of my favourite songs.
Honourable Mentions:
Captain Earth:Believer's High - flumpool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MxdmQXgteY
This was an extremely good song in my opinion. I'll probably never get tired of it. Lyrically, I find it quite fantastic. The only thing that really stopped this from being better than Heavenly Blue was how bad the show overall ended up being, and the OP sequence itself isn't that great. The full song is really top notch too though.
No Game No Life:This Game - Suzuki Konomi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8md9dNe37NU
Another extremely good song that was contender for top spot. The song itself is crafted exquisitely for the show, and the opening sequence itself is really perfect. I think it captures the hype of NGNL really well, as well as the overall style of the show. While I do like some of Suzuki Konomi's songs, her overall singing style feels too forced to me, and the entirety of the song isn't quite as good as Heavenly Blue. I also think it's too explicitly specific to the anime to a degree.
Haikyuu!!Imagination - Spyair
The song and the opening actually describe the show perfectly. While the song itself isn't actually one of my favourites, the actual opening just felt that different because of the feeling it gave. You just take a deep breath of that SEISHUN and see all that sports and PASSION in this OP. I really felt like it was one of those OPs where you look at it and know exactly what the show is about and whether you'll want to watch it right then and there. Sadly, no unpineappleed version is on youtube. They're all copyright claimed so you'll only find slowed/sped up or pitch altered versions.
Magic Kaito 1412Kimi no Matsu Sekai - Lagoon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXH3cG-ROrU
There's so much swag in this opening, it cannot be contained. It always plays at the perfect timing and it fits the show so god damned well. The first episode it plays 11:40 into the show and it's just perfect. 11:40 in, and it catches the scene perfectly and brings that hype. The hype and swag speaks volumes about it alone, but the animation is so good. It just really gets that magic theme down. HE SPELLS HIS pineappleING NAME WITH BILLIARDS ON THE BREAK. TFW YOU WILL NEVER BE THIS SWAG.
Ending of the Year:
Spoiler
EDs are a bit different than OPs since many of them don't have much animation at all. This is understandable since a lot of viewers may simple just turn off the show or do something else as they wait for the credits to play into the preview. Aldnoah.ZeroA/Z - mizuki
This won purely on the merit of the song, since the ED was played maybe half of the episodes, and it hardly related with the show at all. It was a lot of still frames that fit the overall mood of the song itself, but I just found it to be an amazing song overall. If not anything else, Aldnoah had a remarkably good soundtrack and OP/ED.
Honourable Mentions: Ishuukan FriendsKanade - Amamiya Sora https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJU8aCkk1Ro
An extremely great performance for Amamiya Sora's debut work, she also has this amazing ED. Fitting the overall slightly sombre theme of the show itself, it also plays off a really strong hopeful tone in it as well. I really love the lyrics in this song and her voice is quite nice (though I do like the Hase Yuuki version as well haha). It's a bit overly specific but I feel a lot of emotion put in, especially after the second chorus.
Sword Art Online IIStartear - Haruna Luna & Shirushi - LiSA
I quite like Haruna Luna and LiSA's OP/ED songs. These two really set the mood for both GGO and Mother's Rosario arcs. I think they're both really nice emotional songs that push that through very well.
Ryuugajou Nanana no MaizkoukinKasukana Hisokana Tashikana Mirai - sphere https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZBSA-V1eTE
In a show that really spiraled out of control into bad, the ED was a constant source of entertainment. sphere songs are always quite nice and happy, and the ED sequence itself shows that really well. Sugarcubes and pudding, Nanana actually being happy, etc.
selector spread WIXOSSUndo: Apomegranatea e no Kiuko - Cyua https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-RXROChnps
This song always really caught me. The overall sad and despairing tone and theme fit the show so well. pineapple this FUNimation pomegranate though. Really kills it.

That's true I guess, I understand that Hatoko probably isn't the right girl for the main protagonist (because he's so deranged) and Tomoyo is secretly deranged too, I guess it's a joint problem between the main character being insufferable and the main girl being boring and generic, so it frustrates me that the actual interesting characters get sidelined over them.
Something else that annoyed me was the idea of being a "chuuni" was so deconstructed and looked down upon in the first half of the series, before /* the sudden genre shift */, and then suddenly we have Tomoyo's brother being probably even MORE insufferable than the main character, and both of them ending up being justified in their actions and attitudes by everyone around them.
Hatoko was the only character to call any of them out on how ridiculous they are (and my god what a brilliantly acted "snapping" that was. It was beautiful.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcFaqgNnfJI
And yeah, I kinda thought Sayumi's plot was going somewhere too, but I kinda like how she is a main driving force though due to her being targeted twice already and forcing the plot along.

Yeah i agree, I liked this show a lot but the ending was just such bull.
Spoiler
I would have preferred a sad ending to that. There was no explanation given at all as to why they were relieved of their duties, why their physical ailments suddenly began to heal (and even more baffling, why the girl from a previous cycle was healed as well)
It just... wasn't explained well at all. The happy ending just came out of nowhere.

Gundam: G no Reconguista: the number of females in this show is too damn high for a mainline gundam show
Inou-Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de: ending was pretty eh. Didn't like tomoyo, but it was clear she was going to get a 1up easily
Log Horizon 2nd Season: needs more databasing
Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji: IMO, the ending felt kinda rushed, thats just me
Psycho-Pass 2: definitely not as good as S1. but the resolution at least feels complete
Sanzoku no Musume Ronja: on a long hold
Shirogane no Ishi: Argevollen: the ending sucked

For anyone interested, I graphed the Fall shows ratings from MAL, you can see some trends and how well some shows were perceived.
Blue graphs are the shows score by episode/week. Tried to keep the range for all at .5 points so it would be easier to compare trends. The second green/red graph shows the change between episodes, which green being an overall net positive and red and overall net negative change. More detailed explanation.

Tsukimonogatari: Yotsugi Doll: Shaft too sneaky. http://i.gyazo.com/eaae1df63f16629567a980871a6d5e59.png
Obviously the first 2 on either side are Madoka Magica characters. I'm unsure on who the middle 4 are though. The 2 on the right have a uniform that looks familiar to me but i'm not too sure.
I love Yotsugi for the sheer number of Magical Girl poses she does :P
In regards to the actual story though, that was probably my favourite -monogatari to date. Fun characters, funny references, cryptic hints, character development, hints of an arc which has been going on since the beginning...
All the other arcs felt disconnected to me, obviously they followed on from each other and with a bit of shuffling ended up with a linear timeline, but it wasn't until this episode that I really see how connected they are. Koyomi's line at the beginning about this being "the beginning of the end" is definitely accurate, it feels like it's going into the endgame here, with Ougi being set up as the villain, with her actively attempting to screw with his life and how that connects to some of the previous arcs.
I still remember the scene in Suruga Devil where Ougi switches her gender, backstory, personality and general history in the blink of an eye. I feel like she is a pretty compelling villain and i'm glad to finally see what she is about.
Tsukimonogatari really revitalized my interest in this series.

Ah yeah, it is Sengoku's school uniform, I knew it was something i'd seen recently but couldn't put my finger on it.
I've tried finding out who the characters may be. The speculation constantly puts the first on the left to be Kaga Ai, especially if we're taking this from SHAFT's works but SZS takes place in high school. There's also no one with that specific hairstyle for the girl next to her from SZS, or any other SHAFT works as far as I know. Some of the speculation points to: http://myanimelist.net/character/209...ripomegranatea http://myanimelist.net/character/13754/Yuuhi_Katagiri
The two on the right are too generic and the short hair cut makes it impossible to distinguish. There was some speculation that they might be Hidamaris, but Hidamaris are also high schoolers.
Their uniforms are Tsukihi and Karens, and Nadeko's uniforms, so they could be completely unrelated altogether though.
Watched Absolute Duo. Pretty bad to be honest. It's just one of those bad generic harem LNs. Last season's generic harem LN adaptations weren't too bad actually. Trinity Seven had enough badass MC, though a lot of the show was explanation. Madan had enough badass MC but a lot of the show was cock teasing. Inou had an MC. But the other seasons in 2014 had some bad ones. Like Dragonar, Seirei Tsukai, Rail Wars, etc.
Anyways. MC seems like a wuss to be honest. So angsty. NOT TO MENTION SEXIST. MUH PRIVILEGE. etc. At least Machine Doll's protagonist was suave about everyone he loved being murdered.
qt3.14 immediately rekt. obvious future villain, or they just wasted all that swag getting Tomatsu Haruka to voice a mobchara. Swedish girl is so moetrash. Supertrope side characters. Didn't I see that muscle guy in Rail Wars?
WHY HASN'T ANYTHING ELSE AIRED YET. DO I HAVE TO WATCH RAWS. Saw raws for Milky Holmes out. The group that did the last season was slower than FFF, so I ended up watching the raws for that. It's a terrible gag show anyways but I think I'll have to do that again.

Yuri Kuma Arashi episode 1: I really enjoyed Mawaru Penguindrum (in fact I have the entire series on DVD), so naturally I'll give this a try.
It's... crazy, so far. We have lesbians, we have bears, we have symbolism out of the whazoo, and why was Kureha's mother in the picture wearing the same necklace that the dark bear was wearing?
I think it's far too much of a rush of ideas though. Penguindrum was at least a slow burn for a couple of episodes, it was quite grounded compared to this. Some more exposition on the world would have been nice.
Also I think I would have appreciated the first episode more if the stream I was watching wasn't really bad quality with some of the worst subs I've seen in a while. The show is confusing enough, and is bound to get even more so.

Assassination Classroom 01: It's a trap. Not too sure I like this.
Death Parade 01: I wonder how many episodes will actually be games like this.
Spoiler
Husband was a giant plantain that killed them all, but she was a cheating slut so she deserved to go to hell more. Funi subs are pineappleing trash tier and misleading. I want to say this was sexist. I wonder if we'll see something less gray or more wrong. Would like to see a bad guy win one of these.
Kantai Collection 01: I think it's just me, but I didn't wait this long just to hear these girls say their sortie/resupply/hourlies in an anime. The way they casually dropped those was cringey. There were some pretty good scenes, but also some bad ones, like when Hibiki was attacking. Looked awful. NAKA-CHAN DAYO. Needs more yasen.
Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata: Ai to Seishun no Service Kai: Hyoudou Michiru is best girl, and she's a side character pineapple this show. Also, the description on MAL says "Megumi Kato, the most beautiful girl he has ever seen"
>most bland character in the show
k
Otherwise seems fine I guess. Kayano Ai is a goddess.
Shinmai Maou no Testament 01: dat riding scene. dat fake naked apron. dis gonn be gud.
Waiting on [caffeine] for Koufuku Graffiti, but if they're particularly slow, just gonna watch it raw. shaft pls
Watched [Commie]. Hunger is the best sauce. see what i did there
Shaft in all its glory. It's like Hidamari Sketch if they ate more.
Shows I'm watching this season: Aldnoah Zero Season 2
I'm in it for the giant mecha and Hiroyuki Sawano OST alone.
Tsukimonogatari
Mmmmm... I do enjoy me some more Monogatari.
I said with a poised look.
Yuri Kuma Arashi
Revolutionary Girl Utena is one of my all time favorite shows. Looking forward to the traditional Ikuhara mind screw.
Shows I'm on the fence about Fafner Exodus
Hey look, it's Gundam Seed! Jokes aside, I never watched the original series, so even if it is a mecha, I don't feel all too interested.
Death Parade
The first episode seemed pretty interesting, and it's a Madhouse show.
And carry overs from last season: Cross Ange
A glorious Sunrise trainwreck. As bad as it is, I look forward to seeing how Fukuda can possibly top each shocking twist the show comes up with.
Will the conflict between coordinators magic users and naturals normas ever be resolved? Will Tusk Jesus Yamato take over the show? Will the Gundam Seed Finale movie ever come out? Tune in text week, on DRAGONBALL Z!
Gundam: Reconguista in G
This show is weird.
Gunpla Merchandising Build Fighters Season 2
It's a shameless toy commercial at heart, but I love it all the same. I still prefer the first season, simply because the "I'M GONNA BE A POKEMON MASTER" plot can only be used so many times before it gets tiring. Nevertheless, of the four mecha shows I'm watching this season, I'm looking forward to this one the most.

where did this show even come from, and why is it so amazing? I just dled it to watch the first episode and now I think it's one of the best shows so far.
