Re: TF2 Thread, now featuring MANN VS. MACHINE!
Spy bots appear from behind you when they spawn (also, the Administrator will alert you when they start spawning, as well as how many are left as you destroy them). Spies will draw their Revolvers when directly confronted, and will also sap buildings if they get close.
Snipers appear from the normal spawn points, moving to high ground or otherwise hard-to-reach areas. Their locations are revealed by a blue laser that points from their rifle to where they're aiming (much like Combine Snipers in Half-Life 2). When you get close, they draw their kukris.
Both are rather easy to deal with when you're aware of their presence, but they will, like humans, take advantage of distractions like Giant Bots and Tanks.

Re: TF2 Thread, now featuring MANN VS. MACHINE!
Spamoman at high upgrades is so hilariously powerful. Tanks and even enemy Demomen don't really stand a chance against grenades shooting at the speed of a pistol.

Re: TF2 Thread, now featuring MANN VS. MACHINE!
As a Shortstop/Mad Milk/Fan of War Scout, bloody robot Hoovies are the bane of my existence; I just can't get close enough and mark the big guys for death without usually dying at least once. I'll try a more tanky method next time, getting crit/boolet/explosives resistance and see how that goes. Otherwise, I've been having a blast just collecting money for the whole team, and murdering hordes of enemies with my Shortstop/Mad Milk combo.

Re: TF2 Thread, now featuring MANN VS. MACHINE!
It's my belief that damage resistances wouldn't help a Scout as much as they would the other classes (especially Pyro), since dying is pretty much a slap on the wrist, what with the instant respawn and all. Just try to gather loads-a-money to overheal yourself to preposterous amounts before trying to Mark/Milk a Giant Heavy. I've been using a similar loadout on my Scout, but with the stock Scattergun instead of the Shortstop.
The only other class I've tried in MvM is Pyro, and it is pretty effective at stalling Sentry Busters and Giants. Just be sure to use the default Flamethrower. Your Secondary and Melee weapons are pretty much useless here, since this mode is all about dealing as much damage to as many robots as possible (the best secondary you could use would be the Detonator or Scorch Shot, and I've yet to find a reason to use my melee)
My build usually goes:
- Health on Kill
- Ammo Capacity
- Damage Bonus
- Bullet Resistance (when Giant Heavies show up)
- Airblast Force (not too much here, since Giants and Busters aren't knocked back by the Airblast, only upward)
Things as a Pyro you should not worry about:
- Explosive Resistance. If you have a Flamethrower with Airblast, you rarely have to worry about getting hit with explosives.
- Burn Damage and Duration. Even upgraded, Afterburn is pretty useless, as normal robots die too easily to make it useful, Giants have too much health it to matter, and Tanks don't catch fire anyway.
- Using any Flamethrower besides stock. The Backburner's airblast cost is too expensive, making you less effective at protecting Sentries and stalling Giants. The Degreaser has a damage penalty, and the switch speed is essentially useless because you're going to be using your Primary almost constantly. The Phlogistinator is (as usual) the worst choice, with a damage penalty AND no Airblast at all, and its effects can be simulated by simply buying a Kritz Canteen

Re: TF2 Thread, now featuring MANN VS. MACHINE!
Having played the most as Heavy I strongly recommend using the Brass Beast. The increased damage is really useful. I also strongly advise getting a high Life on Kill, Bullet Penetration, Ammo Capacity, Firing Speed and possibly Projectile Destroying if you are on a low ping and have good aiming. I use the GRU so I can run back to the fight faster if I ever die, secondary weapon is pretty much useless here.
With good positioning you will be killing so many little robots with penetration that not even giants can tear through your HP. Resistance to bullets and explosions can be good too.

Re: TF2 Thread, now featuring MANN VS. MACHINE!
Mann vs Machine has gotten a bit more disappointing, as I seem to keep getting bads on my teams. Been finally, but slowly getting back to regular TF2 games. I still would want to play through all the level MvM levels though.
So some new promo items got released. Just one thing...
Guile's Hair

As soon as I get this, going to get a Strange Direct Hit and name it "Sonic Boom".

Re: TF2 Thread, now featuring ENGINEER ROBOTS!
Been a while since I last posted in this topic. Missed the Halloween update and everything.
But now, we have The Mecha Update.
Featuring Robot Engineers! At least three new weapons! Festive versions of older weapons! A new Mann Vs. Machine map!
...And Adult Swim promos.

Re: TF2 Thread, now featuring ROBOHATS!
Been a while since anyone's posted in this topic. But there has been a major update since the last post:
The Team Fortress 2 Robotic Boogaloo update, which added fifty-seven new robot hats based on existing hats. There was an update page and everything!
Then later, they changed the way the Steam Workshop worked with cosmetic items (which makes it easier for Valve to accept them). Ten new cosmetics were added (one for each class, plus one all-class one).
And there's also been a bunch of promo stuff items.
All-in-all, 2013 is shaping up to be a hat-heavy year. Hopefully we get some new maps and weapons soon.

Re: TF2 Thread, now featuring ROBOHATS!
Hooray, this thread is back! Are the Robo Hats expensive? If they're cheap, I wouldn't mind getting robo knockoffs if it means it's more affordable. There's quite a few nice looking hats, even if they are robotic.

Re: TF2 Thread, now featuring ROBOHATS!
Bunsen Brave is paintable. Painting changes flame colour (my flames are Pink As Hell).
-
Re: TF2 Thread, now featuring ROBOHATS!
I'm not a trader, but I'd imagine the robohats are relatively cheap given that RoboCrates were common drops prior to June 3rd.

90% of the hats are under 2 ref(more or less the majority)
@secun Bunsen Brave High five! Wish I could get mines in midnight or white

Painting in black or white is a bad idea. Black won't show up unless you're in a dark area, and white I assume won't show up much either.

Re: TF2 Thread, now featuring ROBOHATS!
Yesterday, there was an update that added this thing.
Speculation commence!

Re: TF2 Thread, now featuring ROBOHATS!
New blog post
The next update features patch notes "longer than a stalemate on Hydro", as well as (at least) two new community maps.
They're also going to be fixing a metric butt-ton of exploits in the already-existing maps, most notorious ones being in PL_Badwater.

Re: TF2 Thread, now featuring BLOG POSTS!
Blog Post Day 2: Weapon Balance
TL;DR: Valve is nerfing the Dead Ringer, buffing the Battalion's Backup, and changing the way item sets with actual bonuses work (like the Gas Jockey Pyro and Expert Ordnance Demoman), among other things.

Re: TF2 Thread, now featuring BALANCE! (kind of)
Update released yesterday.
Fixed like a billion bugs in maps and on weapons and they balanced those weapons...
And they added like 64 Gold Starred items from the Workshop.
