Caution Falling Down. Hidden map left of Kerning.
Nearly half the range of Gaviota, nearly has 3x as less attack, has no real advantage in terms of strategy (no freezing, doesn't act like a summon, elemental advantage, etc. etc.), requires an extra capsule just for it. I believe there's more, but I can't think of them at the moment. :P
1) Gaviota is slow as pineapples.
2) Burner is fast as hell. (when mobbing with cooling, obviously)
3) 3x less attack? Burner cooling mobbing can do upwards of 18k per second...to 6 monsters...and gaviota does like 5k x 3 every 3 seconds to 3 monsters at max level? Wut?
4) You have to cast gaviota every time he attacks. Certainly more annoying than one less slot in your inventory. Sometimes he doesn't even attack at newties (the only real use for him) anyway.
5) Amp mobbing has many many many more uses than gaviota will later on.
6) Gaviotas range is actually 3x less than burner and cooling.
No, i was thinking of doing it during training. i'd do Battleship->Ice Splitter->Battleship, mainly what happens is de-mount ship, freeze enemies, then mount ship then just attack. that's my plan, don't know how long it'll take me to reach Corsair to test it out, but it's useless if Battleship can't be used in Macros.
and i'm still going with the standard build of MAX Ice Splitter. idk bout gaviota, though. neither you or kazoo is going to change my mind. >.<
Does being dexless effect a brawler a lot? (damage, etc)
26 splitter. More only increases damage anyway.
after 4th i'd take the points of of TF. It's not like it will be all that useful after 4th anyways
okay, I'll go over my reasons to max gaviota instead of fire burner again.
1. usability. gaviota is usable in ANY situation at any location for an extra burst of damage. fire burner can only be used effectively in a few situations that wouldn't even provide the maximum training efficiency. fire burner is most useful at kappas and blue centaurs. how often do you plan to train on those? sure there's other fire-weak monsters, but I can't think of one other that's a decent training location. any time you train somewhere with fire burner you could be getting better EXP elsewhere without it. in that place, you could use gaviota to help you even more.
2. fighting style. although gunslingers have mob skills, in third & fourth job they shine the most in single target attacking. the best way you're going to train is if you're attacking one-on-one. because of that, you should get the two skills that will help you the most in those situations, and those skills are cooling effect (for freeze and a slight bit of extra damage) and gaviota (for the damage burst). think about it this way.. how much is fire burner gonna help you at endgame training areas like jr. newties and skelegons?
3. where's my freeze?! in a fire burner and cooling effect combo, the monster WILL "thaw out" the second you use fire burner on it. and it will hit you. sure sounds great taking a pomegranateload of hits from those good ol' endgame monsters huh?
just wait to get torpedo in fourth job to start mobbing. you'll be better off with one-on-one attacking until then.
TF > rapid on flat maps apparently.
1) In third job anyway. I wouldn't even use burner to mob in third job after seeing it's damage. Plus i wouldn't have it maxed until 11x or so anyway, so i would be at newties not using it at all.
2) Third job they shine in single target attacking. Fourth job they shine in BOTH areas. They're the only ranged class that excels completely in both mobbing and bossing (single targets). I was wondering...have you read the posts when i was arguing for burner in the gunslinger build thread? It's got all the arguments for burner over torpedo. No, i never ended up proving that it's stronger but i did prove it comes VERY close to it on neutral targets. I'll find the thread after i post this.
Edit: http://www.southperry.net/forums/sho...?t=112&page=27 Funny enough, i sent you a PM you never answered back. O_o
3) Can i really argue against this? I can argue that you won't take as much damage as you're saying though, because they're still frozen half the time.
Also, have you planned your fourth job build yet? If so, what is it? Just wondering. :f6:
Ehem... Marksmen?
Anyways, just pointing something out for the use configuration.
Can't you store things in the MTS? You can stash some extra HP/MP/Bullets in there, then swap the bullets out as you use them. I remember Issac saying something about this for bowmen awhile back.
And you could argue that Heroes can 3-mob with Brandish.
So I'm on the verge of hitting 70. Won't be too long, and I'm pretty excited for third job skills. However, bullets seem like they'll burn through quick when shooting three at a time. I'm going to switch to only 70 bullets, so I'm wondering how many sets I should carry?
For the gaviota/burner thing, so far just sniping newties, gaviota is annoying and I don't count on it much. Most of the damage is coming from my octo or burst fire.
Didn't read in-depth much of the arguments above but I'll read tomorrow.
And as for the bulelts things, vital bulelts are x3 the amount of level 10s. Carrying 10 sets will last you a while just spamming it.
You missed the "ranged" part of the sentence. D:
I said excels completely. :O They're beastly on mobs with pierce and blizzard, but their single target damage is lacking especially with snipes damage set at 99k instead of JMS' 199k.
Yeah, that might be a good idea. Might lose your map/lower % per hour, but that's the best solution so far. o.o
