How?
It's not possible to get something from nexon if you didn't send a ticket 7 days after you got hacked.
I can prove this because I tried sending a ticket myself two days ago and got a reply 6 hours later
saying this.

Re: What happened to Nexon?
I don't think you should be doing these kind of threads. What Nexon did was nothing more than their job, take action in face of their business (or at least MS's) fail. It's been like only 1 month at most since they started to do something to stop the game from sinking into the pit it was falling in. This is not even the first time it has happened. It always is like this when a new chief is hired like NxJoe or even Crystal Cox.
So talk about what happened to Nexon if we get to christmass and they are still acting this nice.

Right now, they've taken a complete 180 degree turn and they're heading toward "respectable company" status: I'd say that's enough to acknowledge or question Nexon's actions to warrant discussion.
We'll note in the future when the direction shifts back downward but atm this is what we're seeing.
Wonder how many employees they have now, assuming that they hired more.

No offense but this just seems to be a cheap way to get on the good side of players and to avoid the actual situation. For those who were hacked, it's definitely much needed compensation. I'd be interested to see what they do about other less-obvious forms of problems that require remedying (like wrongfully banned accounts).

You should try reading through the thread. You might actually find what you're looking for. And how is this a "cheap way" to get on the good sides of players? Some of these guys lost EVERYTHING and have spent thousands on the game. There's nothing "cheap" about it. It's compensation they full-well deserve.

Perhaps fixing the game so that no one was hacked in the first place, would be a smart idea? You should try reading my complete response as I said the compensation was much needed. And yes, I do consider it fairly cheap that they think throwing around Maple Points is going to change public opinion that easily. From the looks of the responses, it's working. I however choose to remain more skeptical of Nexon's "new leaf". We'll see how long this lasts.

Well my ticket sounds a little angry.. mainly because writing about the entire incident and the WONDERFUL experience I had with their p.o.s. CSR team put me in a foul mood.
I basically described to them what I experienced, why their package was unacceptable, and how I spent more on item locks than they even gave me back in MP/NX.
Hopefully they want to make it right. I am attempting to give them a chance to make things right with me, if not that's not a huge deal I'm going to have my account deleted from their crappy services.
Logging in to empty the trading storage really reminded me of why I grew to hate their team and that game in general.

Yes, Nexon has a very poor reputation with their games and hackers, but him saying that Nexon should first make it so the game / accounts can't be hacked is an impossible scenario.

Pretty much this.
The sad thing is, If Nexon had the hindsight for when they were creating this game to realize that a Client-heavy game is NOT a good idea, We'd barely have half the problems we have now. MS is one of the most popular free MMOs worldwide making it one of the most prime targets for hacking, lets look at a better company Blizzard's D3 has a worse track record then MS has considering that all the hacks from MS worked on D3, remote hack, dupeing, ectect

The problem lies in Wizet. If NEXON never came around Maple would not exist. Wizet was the original makers of the game and gave it to NEXON as a saving grace. Honestly I think you're right NEXON didn't know when they took over Wizet that it would be this popular. I wonder how hard it would be to recode the game without losing so much..

How is it an impossible scenario (at this point at least)? Propositions:
For preventing in-game map/item/meso/NX hacking:
-Hire 100+ American workers to be competent GMs. Your budget can easily handle it.
-Test your content thoroughly (hire more if needed). It's due to them not testing whatsoever that exploit after exploit has been arising.
-Slow down content patches and instead focus on security patches, and using resources on bargain pitfalled hackshield companies does not qualify.
-Make Code server-sided and/or recode the game in Java and hook it to the same database. Again, their budget can handle this.
-Afraid you'll lose players if you shut the game down for 1-2 months to improve it? Release an alternate game which offers link skills or some other variant to help your characters while they cannot be accessible.
For account hacking prevention/security:
-Free item locks. This should come standard.
-Allow the option of cell phone text verification before logging in. If they can allow texting verification for paypal payments, they can do the same for logging in.
-Allow optional IP tracking (an option to make sure it is you who is logging in and where that is). Sure, IPs can be spoofed but this will probably weed out the script kiddies at least.
-characters over a certain level (18x+?) should not be delete-able (end-dateable yes, but not delete-able).
-make game pay-to-play. This will make all users less anonymous and easier for cheaters to get caught.
This is all completely feasible for a company with millions to spend.

While Nexon and Wizet were originally seperate companies, They have now become one company that publishes Maplestory. Most employees that were with Wizet now work at Nexon, Essentially its still the same people working on the game. They are not seperate entities anymore.

I don't think anyone here who hasn't played in 2004-2005 is allowed to speak about what the Wizet/Nexon relationship is or ever was.
Fun fact, here's something from the stickied thread:
Quote:
Q) How did Nexon America begin and what exactly is Wizet’s relationship to Nexon? What is Wizet’s current status?
A) Nexon America is Nexon Corporation’s North American publishing and game service arm. We started with the localization of MapleStory for North America, and have grown to support multiple game launches in North America. Wizet is the developer of MapleStory and also a subsidiary of Nexon Corporation. The Wizet team continues to develop and add content to MapleStory around the world.
Wizet has always been a part of Nexon. Wizet is a developer. Nexon is a publisher. That's the major key difference here.

Again, never do I mention this to be untrue. Point is: More testers are better than none. When people reported certain skills not working right in Tespia and then those same skills preceeded to not work right in the live servers, this shows the company to be irreverent about the process of testing and/or that GMs/Developers do not test at all.

Up until lately, people have been quitting solely DUE to the company's incompetence, and I'd bet it was at a similar rate as would be if content slowed down. Then again, to argue against your point, I've noticed lots of people coming back after months/years to play a newly added class. People are more patient than given credit for. In a scenario where a new class would be added after 1-2 months of downtime, if the fixes are substantial, less people would be quitting from that point on.

It is already P2W. Making it P2P would solidify their players. And I never said it has to be expensive. It can be a mere 3 bucks a month for security sake. And I don't think they will lose half of the player-base, maybe 20% (and it'll include hackers and those who have never spent a penny on the game in the first place). They have nothing to lose by doing this.

I'm not keen on WoW and Diablo, but I do know that Blizzard gives an exponential amount more in effort to try fixing their problem than does Nexon, and botters aren't nearly as bad as dupers or account hackers.

Botting and hacking are not even remotely the same thing.
Hacking is changing the rules of the game.
Botting is playing the game automatically.
The game is made to be played. there is virtually no way to stop a game from being botted, because all a bot does is what the game itself is intended for.
Preventing abuse of the game is very possible.

Yes, but is pretty much a side effect of Nexon/Wizet/Whoever-you-want-to-call-them's bad client side programming choices.
Not indicative of a relationship between botting and hacking.

Got a problem testing how nexon handles their "I'm hacked tickets"?
Already quit the game and gave away/sold my gear on my mains wouldn't mind getting perma IP banned sure gonna use the untradeable MaplePoint to the fullest. If they can't find out I'm blatantly lying about my gear/login times that would be sad

Nexon can track log ins, and even items/mesos(as seen in previous hacks/exploits where either was deleted, and I think there was a case where a SPer was Duey'd items/meso that he lost). All you're doing is sending them on a wild goose chase, when they could be helping someone who deserves it, so yes, I have a problem with it. <_<;

As Rob said, you're wasting the team's time. They could be helping someone else who actually NEEDS it. You've "quit", so why do you care about Nexon's 'credibility'? There's already plenty of testimonies on this thread alone that this is the real deal, and they're helping those that legitimately had their accounts compromised. Your motives are obvious, so why are you even bothering to try and hide it? Go find something productive to do, instead of being a part of the problem.

Got hacked back in 2010 and they finally responded to my ticket after I remade a new one yesterday.
Spoiler
I am sorry to hear that your account was compromised. I understand how upsetting this is, and I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused you.
I understand that you worked hard to obtain the Mesos and items that were lost. Unfortunately, we are not able to recover the lost Mesos and items; however, as a token of thanks for being a loyal player, we have gifted your account with 125,000 MaplePoints to help you recover.
Your account may have been compromised by a malicious web site designed to steal account information. A keylogger may also have been installed on your computer. I highly recommend that you run a virus and spyware scan in order to make sure that there are no malicious programs or keyloggers installed.
Once you've scanned your computer, I suggest that you change the password to your account for added security. Please refer to our Security FAQ for further details on how to avoid getting "hacked" or scammed. You can find this valuable information here:
Please allow 5 to 7 business days for the MaplePoints to be available on your account. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding.
Sincerely,

I'm just in shock that they actually finally responded and then to give me that much MP. and that it only took a day to respond..

Your argument does not show that adding more testers does not prevent more errors/bugs.
Harrison had a perma lock on his overall, when he ticketed nexon to take it off his gear came with an expiration date, Stereo only makes mostly warriors because he can transfer his gear between all his characters to say that the storage should now be useless for security is stupid. Harrison's situation seems to have happened quite a while ago and is completely unrelated to the point. Free Item locks, ones that PROPERLY WORK, should be free. If you lock your gear and then request for it to be unlocked, you should live with it or at least wait for a prolonged delay if your explanation for wanting it unlocked is deemed plausible.
Nexon themselves said when they were recruiting for jr GMs they don't care about account sharing, a lot of people in maple do it just because you don't doesn't affect anything, and have fun playing when ur IP is changed for whatever reason "does not affect anything"...no, just no. Account sharing is one of the big reasons people have been getting hacked. And then it's these same people that seem to be sending in tickets now and receiving free MP when they do not deserve them.
"have fun playing when ur IP is changed for whatever reason" - I'm not saying an IP change should prevent anyone from playing. I am saying that when a certain IP from a country/state/city different from the usual one tries to access account, markers should be thrown and measures should be taken, whether those are email/text notices or freezing accounts if the IP is deemed "untrustworthy".
Having 3k nx on ur account/ur credit card for that monthly payment is just stupid and a lot of people won't continue to play if that happens On the contrary, 3k NX is quite a small sum to pay for greater assurance that your playing is secure. Not many people will quit over a mere 3 dollars.
Blizz responds because they are REQUIRED to because if they didn't it would be illegal And Nexon would be required to respond just as such because all their playerbase would also be customers, not just some, if the game were to become P2P.

Re: What happened to Nexon?
Well my ticket is still open with no response yet. I am definitely curious if they will make things right between us or not. My biggest beef is that I spent at least twice the amount they "compensated" me with on post-hack item locks alone.
Time will tell.

The answer to which was them no longer offering to unlock via ticket because they couldn't figure out how to consistently & safely remove the timer too.
Completely unrelated to what you're on about.

Apparently this will only work if you already have an old ticket about being hacked and didn't get any compensation to date. Otherwise you probably won't get anything.

Already quit the game and gave away/sold my gear on my mains wouldn't mind getting perma IP banned sure gonna use the untradeable MaplePoint to the fullest. If they can't find out I'm blatantly lying about my gear/login times that would be sad
The experiment would need to be controlled with multiple circumstances, including that who answers the ticket. Your justification is retarded and clearly will leave inconclusive results.

Re: What happened to Nexon?
I, for one, want to see the outcome of @yo72's little test. Compensation should be FAIR compensation and not handed out nonchalantly or without proper investigation. So let's see if Nexon's doing this for the sole reason of getting players to return.
