I haven't used hammer in forever. All I do is rush + punch everything.
At high 12x i'm getting a level roughly every 1.5 hours, but I do have some funding from my corsair.
And that training style does not include laser. Tank moves too slow for me, and the extra power from level 1 laser doesn't help me much. I can cycle my current map 1.5 times faster in prototype mode.
Can't Drill rush while in tank mode, only normal attack / gatlin / laser? thats a bit of a let down, i was hoping to use drill rush and laser as soon as i hit 4th. meh, i'll find a way to make it work. and if not i still have my SP reset.
Normal Attack, Siege Mode (both of them?), Laser Blast, robots summons and buffs, iirc. Using Drillhands will change you instantly to Prototype mode. You still can use Drillhands, you only need to transform back into the missile tank after using it.Quote:

aah, thanks - so tank mode generally discourages drill rush then, but doesnt stop it entirely. does the 120speed of tank mode work like the jaguar boost (where you can go up to 160% speed? or is the cap still 140 in tank mode?)
Im confused, looking at the resistance skill tables i only see missle tank mode, what is this Siege mode [1] and [2]? I assume Siege mode [2] is just when you use 3rd jobs' siege mode while in tank form? or does tank itself have a cooldown and not just an upgraded form of the prototype that you can stay in (since i see no duration or cooldown in the skill tables).Quote:

Speed in tank mode is 120/100
If you are in proto mode + siege mode, you are using siege mode [1] on hs.net
If you are in tank mode + siege mode, you are using siege mode [2] on hs.net
While in tank mode, siege mode gets +30% bonus damage. You should never ever use siege mode in proto mode once you get 1 missile tank
If you have X points into siege mode from 3rd, you have the same X points in siege mode [2]. It's just a hidden skill and you cannot add points to it
And I still prefer punch to hammer because
- Everything is in front of me when using drill
- It's stronger so i can usually 1hko
* After testing a bit, I think hammer is stronger due to the 30% ignore def. Now depending on where I train/the situation, i'll use hammer or punch if stuff is too far or close by
- If i don't 1hko, i don't have that dumb annoying glitch where spamming hammer won't get any monsters except for the 1st one
- I think its faster but I'm not sure. Haven't bothered to look up delay speeds
Because there are times and places for both. On short maps with close platforms where a hammer can hit both (like captains), hammer is awesome. On other maps where you're rushing a platform together and wanting to finish them off (AND it takes more than one hammer to do it), you're better off with punch (like i'm doing in DTs right now). Why? Because hammer tosses them in the air giving an unnecessary delay before you can hammer them again. Punch is just better when it takes more than one attack to finish them as it's much more spammable.Quote:

I've used nearly every skill while training. Some maps call for certain things like teleporters, or accelerators. In the Captain minidungeon, i used hammer and RnS which was incredibly fun and was much more relaxing than trying to just hammer every platform before the respawn. When i went outside to Captain/Kru, i found a set of teleporters and an accelerator would let me rush the platforms easily. In Death Teddy where i am now, I just use accelerator and rocket jump while drilling and punching platforms in a general counterclockwise motion. Back in Roids, it was all drill rush and flamethrower (as hammer couldnt 1hko them).
I always have dmg reflect and satellites active, and sometimes use gatling to finish off a singular monster as it's pretty quick. Really looking forward to 4th job.
Wild Instinct isn't even worth maxing at early levels anyway, so there really isn't much to waste points on.Quote:

@Locked: If you Party Quest or boss on that character a lot, I'd recommend Siege Mode for amazing 1v1 damage. If you're just training it, I'd recommend Acceleration Bot. Healing Robot should be considered nearly last since it's not too useful while training at this point and it's bugged.
Of course, I'd personally recommend Punch most out of all of those, but if you disdain it, Acceleration Bot -> Satellite -> Siege Mode seems to be the best route.
Healling bot might be useful in the future unlike Punch which is useful until you get a good level laser. Plus there are many places where hammer > punch.

With mw20 + 30 att pot though, my range at 127 was over 15k. That probably makes a difference.
Lastly, for your healbot situation, dont' forget about the skill "Robot Mastery" in 4th job. At max, it makes all your robot summons last 50% longer. At level 18, my heal bot would last 57 seconds and that's pass the cooldown. I threw one point into it earlier for the nice boost and I see myself maxing it 15x/16x (I'll max it later if I need laser for TT)
I would ask for your % per hour, but the difference in range is quite big so it probably does make a difference. I agree with your training spots. Using tank there is definetely not that good. I tried rextons using only tank, it's worse than gigas/werewolf/lycans, maps where you can jump down, laser, tele up and repeat. I guess there are good training spots (pretty good for me) for tank+laser training and prototype + punch/hammer. Gonna try bains later rushing +hammer/punch or rushing+laser.
Personally, I'm going to leave 2 SP out of metal fist mastery for my final build. It should hardly make a difference, and I can have all of my other toys maxed. Drill rush is barely losing out on anything with that, and hammer is inferior to punch launcher in most situations anyways, especially after you get accelerator maxed (considering mobs can't have negative defense.) Punch launcher is simply more spammable than hammer.
I don't see it. Even with Punch Launcher max I kill mobs quicker with Atomic. All you have to do to get around Hammer pushing them up in the air is to jump up yourself. Atomic does considerably more damage for me, so it kills the mobs quicker for me. No matter what type of map I'm training on. From Lv73 to 109 I trained on completely flat maps (aside from short stints are Kru/Capt), where all I'd do is Drill and Flame/Atomic depending on if I could 100% hit them yet or not. I just went to Ghost Pirates to see how I like it there, and with Flamethrower I do quite a bit of damage on them with it due to their fire weakness, so I'll be here until I can go to DGP.Quote:

At bains i tend to use hammer more because i push them to the corner. But I use the occasional punch for stray mobs. It's all situational.
You have to jump to hit them all. If you've ever juggled using an Aran, maybe you'd know what I mean. I jump-attack with my BaM alot, just so that I get more mobility and to counter getting pushed back from taking damage. The time-length of Mechanic Rage speed is much more useful, and it's not like people grind with Rocket Booster or something.., so it isn't that important.
Also, the distance Rocket Booster is the same from Lv. 1-20; another reason to why it's not that important.

There's a mistake in the 3rd job build - you're 2 points short of maxing everything, not 4.
So because I'm 2 points short of maxing every 3rd job skill, I'm kind of not sure what to leave unmaxed. I'm going to max the following skills for sure: Siege mode, Metal Fist Mastery, Dice, RockNShock. I want to max Punch Launcher too because I like it, and leaving it at 18 is just pointless (hits 6 only at 20) - and it's the only 100% stun skill mechs have that doesn't include running around. So that leaves Healbot, Accelerator Bot and Satellite to discuss. Basically, 1 point at satellite is 3% damage to each bot, 1 point at accelerator bot is 4 sec extra duration and 2% lower monster def, and 18-19 healbot is 51 sec cooldown with 38-39 duration and 23% healed, while max is 40 sec duration, 45 sec cd and 25% healed. I'm really thinking about leaving satellite and accel bot at 19, but I'm not sure. Opinions?

Oh, I think you guys misunderstood healbot for mechs. It kind of sucks for mechs themselves because they need to sit - only useful at zombify\potlock\dojo for mechs. It's useful for their parties tho - they don't need to do anything special to get the heal. But yea, I guess I'll leave either accel-bot or heal-bot at 2 less than max.
I have a quick question that will determine whether I max heal-bot or accelerator. Does accelerator decreases the defense on bosses, or does it only work on non-bosses?

Accelerator having a potential 2 minute timer + lowers defs of monsters is better imo. It makes quite a bit of difference for me at bains and time temple.

i personally will be leaving metal fist mastery at 18 as 4% of my damage range on skills that cant 1hko or get replaced is very close to meaningless to me
With the next SP reset given out I'm going to take the 2 points remaining out of Rock N' Shock. It's already useless enough as is for me, and with Chaos it gets a 180sec cool down.
Hey to all the 4th job mechs is it true that siege mode 2 was taken out? I haven't hit 4th job yet but someone on basil stated that skill was taken out for GMS? Also that missle tank dmg was reduced too? So did they already get "nerfed"?
To the person that stated that RnS is dumb right now. No it is not. If you use it correctly it helps greatly at training. Especially at krus and capts. The chaos update wont happen till summer anyway which is 5 months from now so why wouldn't you max it? You will most likely get to 4th job anyway which then you be using the other skills more then RnS anyway.

In chaos it does get a 180 second cd, yet also a 30 second increase in duration. With mastery, it will be about 90 seconds, which isn't horrible. However, the current RnS is overpowered as it is.
One of the easiest ways to use RnS is to start out in a small map. You'll usually want to make a triangle, with the top of the triangle being on the upper platform. Find the three pointers you'll want to use RnS, and put a portal at the top pointer and any other pointer. When that's accomplished, you can always just use one RnS, teleport, RnS again, and simply rush or whatever to the last point. RnS is useful as it acts as a second party member always clearing everything in its path, however the skill requires actually paying attention to the game opposed to half-assing/multitasking.
The biggest mistake someone can make with the skill is to not kill while setting it up, and possibly not using the portals to your advantage.
I also set it up and AFK to go to the bathroom or get a snack or something and it kills for me and prevents people from going Into my map while i afk for a short while.
I have a quick question about 4th Job mechanic builds, and didn't know where else to put it.
When you add one point in Extreme Mech, does it add +21 attack or just +1 attack? Is it just a continuation of the 2nd Job mastery skill? Also, if you guys have suggestions on 4th job skills builds, feel free to contribute!

I've been using RnS at 4th job when I train at newties to save a couple of pots by stunning/killing one of the newties behind me, pretty much like BMs used hawk, a 30 seconds summon though so I don't bother using it all the time, but I do get hit less if I use it. So far I'm level 60 and pondering about what leaving at 13: Rocket, HW Mastery or Booster. I'm leaning towards Mastery, so I'll ask: are the 7 levels on it much of a difference later on? I mean, I've been only using Atomic Hammer and Drill (and portal :D) to train...
On a side note: holy crap. I'm one hitting every mob I've trained on so far and I'm not even using my DEX equips (I'm using INT so I don't even have to bother changing them every level up lol).
Some people say flame is better than atomic hammer to train at higuer level monsters than your character(10 lvls above). I don't even think it matters at all whether they can kill faster with flame because atomic hammer can kill all the monsters on flat maps even before they respawn with misses and all. Leave rocket booster 13... in 4th job you spend most of your time in tank mode and rocket gets a double animation when your on the tank. ( You go from being in tank mode to prototype then you jump then when you land you will transform back to tank, it is very annoying)
@4th job build discussion:
- Robot mastery makes your summoned robots last longer and makes them do more damage. Level 1 is good, but you don't need it yet. The only thing that will make it useful is longer accelerator. But it'll add only like an extra 6~ seconds, and since there's no cooldown on accelerator, i don't see much point in having it last longer. 6 seconds isn't huge
- Safety is okay, and has 2 abilities. Personally, the "it guards damage" ability is total crap imo. When that actually happens, you will lose all your satelites and have to recast them. Even if that damage gets guarded, 2 seconds later you're probably going to get hit by it again.
In addition, it only activates when you get hit for X damage. If you have 100 hp and get hit for 200, you'll still die. At level 1, you need to take like 3-4k damage, and nothing hits that high except bosses (And even when they do, look at above statement as it will onyl help for 1 attack and you have to recast sattelite). The extra 2% satelite damage is the only thing i find useful from the skill
tl;dr: Throw a few points for fun if you want, but just get extreme mech. None of the other skills are really helpful except for tank + laser if you boss.
Yeah, after Lv121 I was planning on maxing Extreme Mech before adding into anything else. I ended up adding 1 into each, but I doubt I'll really notice any change with the other two skills while at DGP. What's better to max after that, though? Tank or Laser Blast? I would think Tank because of the extra critical rate/damage for normal attacks, and less MP usage.
It might just be me because my gear is above average, but from what my other friends have also said, laser training will never surpass training in prototype mode just due to the fact of how mobile you can be in proto mode. You're much much stronger in tank mode, but you can't move as fast and you therefore lose more exp. Unless the map is extremely small and laser can cover the whole thing (or you're party training and your laser does the entire platform), I can never see tank training beating proto training
The way I see it
- Extreme mech: #1 skill. After this, nothing much more is needed to train effectively to 200
- Tank: Bossing skill
- Laser: Zak arms + HT main fight + attacking something with multiple parts
- Satelite Safety: The absorb damage part is garbage. Only good thing for this skill is extra damage on satelite
- Giant Robot SG-88: Casts extremely slow but can clear out giant mobs. More or less a fun skill and should only have 1 point into it until high 17x+
- Bots n Tots: Unless you're taking a small portion of the map, this to me is just additional bossing damage and doesn't really help training
- Amplifier: Bossing
- Robot mastery: Good to get amplifier pass the 90 sec CD. Is useful if you train with accelerator so you don't have to cast it as often. Otherwise extra damage is just useful for bosses
- Maple warrior: Same old same old, depends on your situation. This is the only skill that will actually improve your training speed relative to any other 4th job skill. But if you party train or use a bishop HS mule, you may have it already via those means
@above, Try Gigas, Werewolfs, Lycans, Dark Cornians, Newties, Skeles with laser. Jump down laser portal to top repeat. Never had to move left or right with tank. NEVER. So mobility doesn't matter in these maps. Bots n Tots also helped me because they can solo plats at Dark Cornians easyly, they help me kill one bothersome newtie that I can't hit too. I haven't tried Oblivion 4 so I can't compare newties/skeles with the best map available, but it wouldn't surprise me if I can do more % per hour at newties/skeles than using protype there.. at least until I get +120% dex? on eqps to 1-2hitko
I'm around your level helen and training in TT for about 15m~/hr (Linds might have mentioned me). Should increase soon when I reach regrets. I can't really imagine skeles being better due to EXP + map layout (no quick way back to top unless there's a new teleporter)Quote:

How viable would it be to do telepads on 2nd to 4th plat at skeles (counting from the top) and using bots & tots at the top?

I think O4 would be really easy with tank being slow. Put one pad to the right of the top vertical portal, the other one to the right of the right horizontal portal. Lazer can clear all the platforms so you just have to move the small small distance to each portal.
Bots won't work if you're too far from it. Portal is kind of the same, need to be genesis distance or so for them to work.Quote:

So far, regrets 3 > mem5, but not much, maybe 500k-2mil exp/hr more. Little bit riskier since they hit much harder T_T But still getting 5-5.5 hours/level at mid 15x isn't bad at all. Really hoping regrets4 will be better. Map layout is exactly the same as R3, just has different monsters and spawn.
Does Amplifier require you to be near it to get it's buff like the Healing Robot? Was planning on adding into it after maxing Extreme Mech and 10 points into MW for training.
Portal at skeles work from 2nd plat to top(counting from the bottom), I assume it might work from 2nd plat to bottom plat(counting from the top)..haven't been in that map for a while, but BoTs N Tots shouldn't be able to solo that plat effectively.

If you are really doing sometimes 5.5hours at mid 15x, you should try newties F3 unless that was exp per hour hsless. It's not bad though, but I know the pot usage at ToT is quite bigger compared to newties. I did try ToT before moving there, and I was just too poor to afford all the pot usage.. it really felt bad :(.Quote:

I stand corrected, did a quick few tests at newties and with very little experience at handling the map, and I got 18-19m/hr (calculated with HS). Not sure how it'll fair against Regrets 4 (maybe 5) but the HP pot cost is much much lower. Guess imma go back and max laser now.Quote:

Yah, doing +5hours a lvl now, probably 5hours 15min. I haven't had the time to do ToT quests till regrets sooo I haven't tried there.
