My browser won't load some websites :(
Posted by: Friend - 2008-07-17, 11:52 PM - Forum: Technical Help - Replies (12)

So heres the situation :
I start up firefox ( the old one ) and websites load...but even if I was to wait 20 minutes it wouldn't load up. such as going to google is perfectly fine, but searching something isn't >.>

So I downloaded firefox 3 and everything could load fast. And it's already happening again, I tried reinstalling Firefox but its still happening =T

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

( Hell, even a way to stop this would help ! )

This will be a section to let people know about new moderators being put into place. With this forum rapidly growing, I imagine that this will be a busy place soon to come.

To start off, iiMarik will be the new local moderator for the Writer's Corner, and that board will be coming very shortly. Everyone, please welcome her.

Update: Looks like Zaotsu made Super Moderator. Congradulate him, damnit! >Sad -Magus

What and how many PC games do you guys play?
Posted by: WillDaSnail - 2008-07-17, 11:27 PM - Forum: General Gaming - Replies (17)

*Note: This applies ONLY to computer games*

Just wanted to take a quick poll on how many computer games you guys play (excludes MS....lol). Describe them too, it gets everyone interested. ;D

For me.......

Self-explainatory Tongue *Points to sig*. But here's a quick rundown.....

- MS: er....started that in May of '06 thanks to friends introducing it to me.

- Gunbound (by IJJI): This was the first online game I actually started on back around '04 with Softnyx's Gunbound (quitted after a year after that due to boredom + lack of interest). Few years later, a RL friend of mines told me about IJJI's Gunbound and decided to come back. I play once or twice every weekend now, usually with my RL friends.

Counter-Strike/Day of Defeat: Started Counter-Strike after GB got boring, and its one of the best kickass games EVER (despite its graphics dating back to the late '90's Tongue). I play the v1.6 version, my comp cannot support the Source one. Day of Defeat: I decided to try this game one day a few summers ago out of curiosity's sake, and found it fun. Got a few friends hooked on it after a bit of persuasion, and yeah. I play this game on and off with friends, switching it between this and CS.

(Oyeah, if you guys want to meet up with me in these games besides MS...well PM me!)

  Playing with Resource Hacker
Posted by: RideBMX - 2008-07-17, 08:48 PM - Forum: The Speakeasy - Replies (4)

Being bored easily and quite often, I decided to play with Resource Hacker a bit to customize my Logon Screen (logonui.exe). This is what it currently looks like. I also have the pop-up say "Fail. Try again." if the password is incorrect. I will probably edit several other files to change the overall look of things. Next on my list is the Boot Screen (ntoskrnl.exe).

Who else here likes to play with ResHack?
And what are some things you have done with it?

  Bui's Utilities
Posted by: LazyBui - 2008-07-17, 06:48 PM - Forum: Training Center - Replies (11)

Had these for a while, figured that I'd only use them personally when I coded them. So much for that.

 Utilities changelog - version 1.1
Keep in mind that I designed these for myself, so some features may not make sense to you. I tried to keep it as straightforward as possible.

They are scripted in mIRC's built-in language. What is mIRC? It's a client that allows you to connect to IRC networks. It, like many others, allows for scripting of numerous events. Suggested reading: http://www.mirc.com/mirc.html

I know I'll get some bitching about this, but trust me, it's faster to launch mIRC than it is to launch Excel. Plus, I can add an interface to it instead of having it just be a bunch of spreadsheet cells. You wouldn't complain about Excel calculators, would you? Good. Moving on.

Included are my damage calculator, my accuracy calculator, an HP/MP percentage calculator, and a small tax calculator. All are works in progress. There will be bugs that I haven't found, there will be mistakes somewhere, and above all, I will add more features in the future. Feedback is important to all of these. I am just a single user. You see something that would make the utilities better? Let me know.

Lists: http://www.mediafire.com/?hzygxywdsjd
Feel free to virus scan it if you want, but it's just a bunch of .mrc/.ini/.txt files.

Old versions only come as a package of lists/scripts.

Loading the script into mIRC:

There are two ways you can do this. The first is more advanced. You do want to run the initialization features, unless you feel like adding dialogs.mrc yourself and using the loader to load the rest.

1. /load -rs "path/to/script.mrc"
If it's somewhere within the mIRC directory, which I recommend for placement, you may omit the first part of the normal path and just put folders, e.g. /load -rs maple/maple.mrc. The only file you must load is maple.mrc.

2. Picture tutorial time. ^_^
Milk and cookies after your nap

It's highly recommended that you unload the main script (maple.mrc) before deleting directories to load a new version.

Using it:

Should be able to right click anywhere and there'll be a "MapleStory" menu. Whether it's the Commands menubar item, a channel, or a status window, or a private chat. Alternatively, there are commands to bring up any of them if you prefer that method, the commands can be found in the titlebars for each utility.

As of official version 1.0, there's a loader that you can utilize to get rid of utilities that you won't be using, preventing them from taking up script space or allowing misclicks or whatever. I'll probably be messing around with these ideas a bit in the future, but hopefully this is fine for now.

Accuracy calculator note:

The accuracy calculator dynamically compiles sort lists based on monsters.ini, which means that the first time switching to them will be a little on the laggy side. I also offer precompiled lists because compiling all of them can take 20+ minutes on my decent PC. But sorting is very snappy afterward. Lists go in maple/accuracy/lists/

As of 1.1, list generation is definitely not for the faint of heart. It took almost 20 minutes to produce all 588 lists on my machine. Chances are that it'll take longer on a worse machine.

Macross Frontier! [WARNING: LONG RANGE SENSORS HAVE DETECTED MASSIVE SCREENSHOTS]
Posted by: Yoorah - 2008-07-17, 06:42 PM - Forum: Anime & Manga - Replies (6)

Don't mind the title. x)

Is anyone else here following this amazing series?

Macross Frontier, like the previous Macross series/movies, is a mecha anime with a strong musical performance theme. So whether you love concerts, fighter jets, OR BOTH, this is something that you MUST watch. The music in this series is great, as is the visual design for how they tie in performances with the main plot. The 3D CG mecha battle animations are simply amazing, and will make any other mecha series look like crap by comparison. The artwork is superb, and you will find a lot of creative styling in pretty much every object that you'll see. When you compare the attention to detail in this series, as well as overall production quality, Macross Frontier blows away even awesome mecha series like Gundam 00.

The only weak point this series has is that it wasn't mastered in High Definition. Some of you may not see what the big deal there is, but after you watch the first episode, you will most likely be wishing that there was a real HD version of it.

Oh, and even if you don't generally like mecha anime, you should still give this a try. Unlike the recent Gundam series, or some lame mecha animes out there, Macross Frontier isn't all "big robots fighting each other all the time" and has a well written plot, with an exciting story. Or at least, that is my impression of it so far. Smile

You can download up to episode 14 at this time, by torrent, from the Lunar group.

DON'T WATCH THE EPISODES THROUGH YOUTUBE OR SOMETHING INSTEAD, YOU'LL BE MISSING OUT.

Here's some screenshots, even though they don't do the show any justice. Redface
