I stumbled across a Kickstarter for this game, Ashes of Creation, a week ago and decided to do some research on it. I haven't really played a MMO in a while mainly just being busy but it's far enough out that I won't be in school anymore haha. So I think I'll try to explain some of the key features I've grown to love about the game (concept based, though). The game is currently in Pre-Alpha still, so there is a lot of progress to be made, but I think the world and character and environment design all look amazing. When the game comes out, it will be subscription based. Their Kickstarter campaign reached a $750k goal in less than 12 hours and they are en route to becoming the most-funded MMO Kickstarter ever. As of writing this, they are at about 2.2 million with 12.5k backers. Of course there are various rewards for you if you choose to back the game and that long list of stuff is here. Most of the rewards give you subscription game time and various cosmetics only available through backing the Kickstarter.

If you like what you see, they will be streaming another Q&A today at 3 PM PST on Twitch.tv/ashesofcreation.

They're designing Ashes of Creation as a world that lives and breathes and reacts, where player decisions matter. Each server is going to have its own story. To do this they're developing a "Node" system. A Node is basically a zone in the open world with its own zone of influence. And as player adventure and complete question and gathering in that area, the experience is being captured by these Nodes. As the players level up in an area, so does that Node - going from a an encampment all the way to a metropolis. These new population centers can provide citizenship, housing, and creating your own Freehold of land.

One of the coolest things, I think, are that the server progress in terms of what zones are developed are totally independent. There are maybe 40+ nodes to be created in total or something. Of those 40, only 5 of those can become a Metropolis. This created some meaningful conflict between players. As long as there are only 5 areas at the max level, you cannot level up other nodes to Metropolis. Here's where Siege PvP comes into play - players can conduct a siege on these high level nodes through a series of events, and if they win the Metropolis is destroyed to make room for a new one. Honestly just the thought of having to defend my home area in the game just excites me.

As far as classes and races are concerned, there will be the typical primary classes: Tank, Fighter, Rogue, Ranger, Mage, Cleric, Summoner, and Bard. From these classes, you can augment your primary class skills with a secondary class from any of the previously mentioned. You won't get new skills per se with this secondary class, instead your current skills will get augmented. They give one main example of this: if a Fighter chooses Mage as its secondary class, the Fighter's rush skill turns into a teleporting skill. I am sure there will be plenty more augmentations than that with the addition of a secondary class. But this gives a total of 64 unique classes to choose from because you can choose Tank/Tank if you really want to be a tanky tank to control Hate at bosses.

The races that are confirmed are Humans, Elves, Orcs, and Dwarves, with a possible Underreal race to be revealed if the Kickstarter reaches one of its additional goals. The developers have stated that certain races will give certain stat enhancements, but they have yet to reveal anything more specific than that.

Along with all of this, there will be various PvP types. The open world will be flagged as a PvP zone, but there are plenty of deterrants for zerging and ganking other players like exp debt, dropping items (if you are like a corrupt player that kills a non-combatant) etc. As well as areas to try out PvP in a controlled setting. One interesting thing is a caravan system. As you gather materials from a vein of mithril or wood or meat, you'll notice that there is a limit to what you can carry. This weight limit requires you to utilize a caravan system if you want to bring goods to other towns. However, this system is a PvP system and people can choose to defend or attack caravans to protect or steal goods.

I think that's all I can come up with right now, but there's all of this and a lot more on the Kickstarter page. I am entirely way too hyped for a game that's coming out years from now. But I'm hoping it'll be worth it! Alpha testing hopefully starts at Q4 of 2018.

Good:
+ Pokemon. Original pokemons. Enough said.
+ The game is getting people out and moving. Pokemon Go succeeded in something that pretty much everyone and everything else has failed in.
+ I generally like the monetization model in this game. There's incentive to buy things but the game doesn't seem to be heavily P2W to the point where many would complain about it.
+ Gameplay is simple enough to appeal to a large audience
+ This game markets itself perfectly, I've never seen a game get this much mainstream media coverage.
+ I like the music

Bad:
- The interface of the game is in some ways poorly designed. Players should not be required to google how the core elements of the game work. Good:
Bad:

Wasteland 2 Review
Wasteland 2 is an RPG that goes back to the incredibly oldschool isometric CRPG roots that a lot of now modern RPG franchises can trace their roots back to like TES or Fallout. Wasteland 2 is without a doubt made by a lot of the people who have worked on the classic oldschool CRPGs with the obvious influence from people like Chris Avellone making it feel like modernized version of fallout1/2 with some new elements. To some this might not be something that they're looking for today and they might prefer first person open-world RPGs like Fallout3, New Vegas, Skyrim and so on. However

Gameplay
The gameplay is fairly standard for the kind of game that Wasteland 2 attempts to be, most of the game is played out in somewhat realtime where you have a fairly large degree of how you want your squad to move about, and the ability to move your squad either as individuals or as a group. You can attack enemies from this realtime mode or set up an attack or ambush during it, but the second the combat begins it switches to a fairly classic turn-based combat with elements such as cover and crouching factoring in to your combat stats. For people who aren't very into these kind of RPGs, similar combat can be found in the X-COM series with a fair bit of overlap in how it plays out, even down to the very chance-based attacks.
To some these chance based attacks can be frustrating or even something that makes them not want to play, but for me it adds a great element to the game, i'm personally someone who loves to play tabletop RPGs where you'd have to roll a dice to see if you'd even hit an enemy and it gives a feeling that things could go south anytime and requires you to be careful, plan your moves and have back-up plans.
The game is however somewhat forgiving, even if your squad members were to be downed they are not killed right away, you have quite some time to go and heal their wounds and get them back onto their feet meaning that even if you do temporarily lose a squad member it is not too punishing. If you however do not manage to heal them, they are lost and can not be brought back.

When starting the game you get the choice between using a default squad, probably created to simply give a new player the tools and skills required to make for a decent playthrough, i however decided to create my own squad from scratch meaning that i sometimes ran into problems i had to work a lot harder to solve, like not having a character with suffecient lockpicking skill or nobody that could bruteforce down a door with a broken lock.

 Character customization

This character customization was honestly pretty great, and allowed for some very diverse characters even if they didn't give you many points. A lot of the character building probably will end up having to come from leveling up your characters and getting skill points over time, which leaves intelligence to like in the fallout games be an incredibly strong stat due to it directly influencing how many skill points you get. Unlike fallout however it seems that increasing your stats can be quite difficult with just skill points and stats themselves do not directly influence skills and have their own seperate effects like if you attack before or after enemies, meaning that power gaming by dumping points into intelligence might not necessarily be the best idea.
The skills themselves ranged from somewhat generic, like the combat skills (however it is probably a bit hard to make those anything but generic) to worthwhile interesting skills like smart-ass or hard-ass giving you different options during dialogue.

In the start of the game i felt that i had built some fairly balanced characters, however i still felt that the game could at times be incredibly hard and if i didn't prepare myself properly i'd die and lose all my party members. After fully clearing my first mission (after almost 5 hours) i however felt that i made much better decisions and understood how to position my squad far better. The game also requires you to make sure that your crew has enough water and i didn't feel this was overly hard or annoying so i felt it was a fairly nice system to give a reason to explore for sources of water while travelling around the wasteland.

Story
Story-wise the game has a fairly generic 'nukes caused the apocalypse' story going for it with it almost just being fallout minus the vaults. Raiders and mutated animals are going to be your primary enemies while you work for the desert rangers to make the world a better place and solve a newly rising problem that i wont spoil here. I don't really mind this though as it's a solid set-up for a post-apocalyptic RPG and results in obvious conflicts that your character will have to deal with and solve without it feeling dumb or forced.

Visuals
Visually the game isn't anything amazing but it does the job. It's not ugly or unappealing so it's just acceptable, not that i'd expect the people who'd be interested in these kind of games to be people that cared overly much about the visuals not being super Next Gen™

Overall Thoughts
Overall the game is an incredibly enjoyable game for anyone who wants to play another CRPG made by veterans of the genre.

I give the game a 9/10 which is obviously an incredibly high score, but as a person who simply loves turnbased isometric CRPGs it's just an almost perfect game for me.

Nuclear Throne is a “roguelike-like top-down shooter”, where your objective is to reach the nuclear throne (which I have no idea how it looks, because I'm sure it's impossible to get there).
The game has a lot of different characters, each one with a unique skill, changing totally the way you play, and a lot of weapons. The runs are randomly generated, meaning that no run will be like the other.
But only the controls are easy, the game is super hard, i can't express how hard it is. If dodging the other enemies and killing them wasn't hard enough you also have to manage your bullets because if you run out, you are in a really bad situation.
It also has a Co-op mode and daily/weekly runs with steam ranking.
This is definitely the hardest game I ever played and that's because I wasn't able to get very far in my 5 hours of game play.
So if you like hard games, more like impossible games I certainly recommend that game.

And thanks again for the game.

In some ways, it feels more like the logic puzzles one might have seen from various magazines over the years. Not quite easy at first, given that the game could have multiple ways to get to a solution in later puzzles. Just for an example of an early puzzle could have a solution as easy as routing the value through a few nodes. I still had at least an idea of the path needed, just not having the an idea of what I needed to make the solution.

I've got no qualms with the graphics or sound. Given the only sound would be from the start up, it isn't that bad having silence in a game every now and again. I wouldn't fail a game that looks and feels more like it would have been actual hardware from the late 1970s to mid 1980s. It looks like

I will give the creators respect for making something where playing the game feels like a nice challenge.

Hello,

You probably already know Rocket League, but if you never played it before like it was my case until today, I hope you will enjoy my review.

Basically, if you have watched a video about the game, I think you pretty much saw everything. The main mode of the game is very simple, you play a 5 minutes game of soccer with a car in a cage with special boost around. There are 1 versus 1 match up to 4 versus 4.

You can also customize and pimp your car, change its color, add little flags, hats, rims, etc... The customization is purely esthetic and doesn't change you car in game capacity.

There's a tutorial to learn the controls and a single player mode where you play against the computer to basically unlock trophies. I'm still waiting for a friend to play my first real multiplayer match. Also, I didn't had the chance to try the basket and hockey mode.

So far I had a good experience playing the game, it's quite fun even if it's also challenging. The game is overall simple, but it can also be strategic, you can be defensive and wait for an opportunity or go full mode cow-boy and go non stop for the ball.

The matches are fast pace and can be sometimes chaotic, especially at the beginning when your not sure what you are doing. It's an accessible game, but like people say, it's an easy to play, hard to master kind of game.

If you have a chance, you should try the game and make your own opinion.

Thank you and I hope you enjoyed my review.

A special thanks to Southperry.net for giving away the game and Happy Independence Day

My opinion after playing the single-player mode for 6 hours:
First of all, I would like to thank @Eos for giving me both The Forest and Ark: Survival Evolved as part of his very generous giveaway.
I've played the single player of The Forest for the last 6+ hours and wanted to share my personal take on it. I'll begin by saying that the first 6+ hours in the single player version of The Forest was the most fun experience I've ever had in a survival game, and one of the best experiences I've ever had in video games at all. I didn't even tried the multiplayer yet because I couldn't get myself to stop playing the single player. I took a break for now only to post here about how much I enjoyed playing so far. While playing, I joined Discord and told my friends about the game, and they decided to purchase it and really enjoyed it as well. We all played the single player version while being together in Discord, and although we weren't playing together, sharing our experiences, reactions and helping each other out was really enjoyable.
I will begin by saying that this is the only survival game that managed to make me feel scared. I'm personally not into horror games, but for some reason this was my favorite part about this game. I really enjoyed being scared, and it just shows how good and immersive this game is. When I got used to a certain threat that managed to scared me, the game always managed to send a bigger threat to scare me again, making the single player experience intense.
Another thing I really love about this game the crafting system. In most games I've played so far, the crafting system was always one of my most hated features, but The Forest really managed to make the crafting system one of my favorite things about the game. I like everything about the crafting system: the book which includes many crafting recopies, the fact that there are still some recipes left for us to discover, the way building works in this crafting system and the fact that you can both use the structures that the game offers you or get creative and make your own.
In addition, the resource managing system (hunger, thirst), which can be a pain when it is not done well, was really well done, the graphics are really good in my opinion, the game runs smoothly on my PC and it has a co-op and multiplayer modes which I haven't tried yet, but will probably be as good as the single player mode if not even better. I've also noticed that this game gets frequent updates, which is another plus.
I cannot really think about something I didn't like about this game after playing it for 6 hours. I hope that it won't get repetitive the more I play - but the game is still in Early Access and gets frequent content updates, and there is also the co-op and multiplayer mode that I still haven't tried. I'll edit my review once I'll try the co-op and multiplayer modes along with my friends, but so far I really enjoyed this game and really recommend you to get it even if you aren't fans of survival games. It currently costs 12$ on Steam as part of the Summer Sale and will keep being on sale for the next 40 hours.

Coming soon.

Again, thank you very much @Eos ! You really made my week
