Quote:Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has sadly passed away. Nintendo has issued a statement which you can read here. Mr Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.

Despite your viewpoints about Mr.Iwata and how he managed the company, it is a tragic heartbreak for anyone or any fan of Nintendo to hear a prominent guy going away like this.

Wow. I hadn't heard anything on this matter, so was it as sudden as it seems? Good wishes to his family and his staff.

I have no words. This is literally someone partly responsible for so many of my most cherished childhood games.
Thanks, Iwata. May you rest in peace.

Future Nintendo Directs are gonna feel a lot emptier; I always loved the shenanigans he would pull with Reggie. I mean, who the hell could dislike this:

I didn't even know he was responsible for Kirby's Dream Land until now even.

It's amazing how much stuff he's had his hands on. Just reading all sorts of topics on this passing on /r/Games, Nintendo, SmashBros, etc. and people are listing all sorts of amazing achievements he's done. It's mindblowing.

While Dorito Pope had nice things to say about him, this really got me the most.

And the last thing we did (as a collective) was make him apologise for the E3. And he did it when he must have known he was dying.

I'm sorry Mr. Iwata. Even if it was only a small way, you really changed the world significantly.

Thank you for everything.

I was pretty shocked when I read the news this morning. I knew he was ill but I thought he was on top of it. I never realised how serious it was. Like his vision or not he was still a good guy, never afraid to apologize either. A lot of people just see him as the CEO but he was really talented and skilled game developer. A real character too. E3 and Nintendo Directs won't be the same. Sad day.

I am still shocked about this. I must admit I was against it when he was re elected as president of Nintendo, but this is totally NOT what I or anyone wanted for sure. He contributed so freaking much to the gaming industry he had to still be part of it... he should still be part of it...

May god welcome him into his glory.

It hurts knowing he's gone from this world. May the great heavens in the sky get to enjoy his genius. Sad
