Windows XP and DirectX 8 Update

As you may know, Microsoft has ended support for Windows XP. While you can still play MapleStory on Windows XP, Microsoft will no longer offer support for security updates which could leave your computer vulnerable to viruses or malware.

We have also stopped supporting DirectX 8, and this will be removed from the game client in the next game update.

We have updated the minimum and recommended specifications for MapleStory. Please see below:

• You need at least 14GB of available hard drive space to download and install onto the same drive.
  
• We recommend that you install DirectX version 9.0 or higher for the client to run smoothly.
  
• If you have Windows XP, your computer may be vulnerable because Windows XP is no longer receiving security updates.
  

I wonder just how badly this would increase the lag on my old desktops.

Might actually improve it.
