Spamming scrolls gives more stats

Describe the problem. Be as specific as possible!:
A friend of mine told me that he has +12 att on his cane by using 8 100% scroll for cane for ATT by spamming it. So I tried one and:

Note: I tried also with rod and 1 hand sword, but it does not work. Only tried 3 types of scroll and all 100%, I'm too cheap to buy others. Its not game breaking but if this work with other scrolls...

Seems that 100% Cane for ATT scrolls are giving 2-4 ATT instead of 1.

I tried this with a 2H Sword and 100% 2H Sword for ATT scrolls, got the usual 8. Tried this with multiple Canes, ended up with a different +ATT every time.
