Scratching with trimmed nails

I don't get how you're scratched more than before you cut your nails.

After your nails are cut, their edges are sharper than when they were worn down before. When you file your nails, you can also made an edge on them, as well as compress them at the edges making them harder.

I just bite them off, like a man.
