Do you think I got scammed out of a Zhelm?
#1
So this is what happened...
I smegaed that i wanted to buy a Zhelm and I found someone who said that her brother is in a guild called Konoha and is selling Zhelms. She says i can buy a unlimited tries zhelm run from his mule for 30mil. (she said that Konoha is selling them for cheap because its winter break) She says Saturday is full and finds out that they have one more space for monday's run. I ask where i should pay him and she says that his shadower is at newts, so I have to pay his mule. She said i will get 1st loot, but asks if i could pay 35 mil instead.

I meet the mule in the fm and i ask him what his shadower (thats in Konoha) is. He says ngamecube. Does anybody know if ngamecube is in Konoha?
He then explains what she said to me and then asks for 42 mil instead, because of "taxes." I ask if he is PST or EST and he says he's Pst. He then explains we will meet at the altar around 5:30. He said that he will PM me so we can go on the run.

Okay, so it seemed suspicious that he put as first loot.
The most suspicious part is that she said he has a shadower and he said he had an archmage.
Does anybody know if Ngamecube is in Konoha and has a mule named infighteri? (or if you've gotten a zhelm from infighteri)

If I did get scammed, i better start defaming him...

Edit: BTW if anybody wants to see pics of the conversations i will post them.

Edit 2: If i got scammed prepare for a Pits of Hell thread. Tongue

I'm sure you got scammed. Why didn't you just go to Sleepywood and get all the pro guild zhelm dealers? o_o

So does anybody know if Ngamecube is in Konoha and if there are selling Zhelms for cheap prices because of winter break.
The thing is Ngamecube is actaully an archmage so maybe his sister just forgot what his main was...
Ill probably PM ngamecube later to see if he has that mule.

...you smega'd to buy a helm?

Before you buy a helm, or anything of that sort, you should really do your homework before buying.

I think I was too picky about it being during Winter Break. I should have gave it more time.

LoL. What kind of idiot would just hand their money to someone like that?

I'm not meaning that in a rude way, but next time find out who you're buying from before you buy something at that price. Tongue

Yeh I think you got scammed. I wouldn't bother with the defame either ... what are you gonna do, defame a mule? I don't think he'd care. And he probably has nothing to do with the ngamecube character. It sounds like he just looked up someone on the rankings and claim to be that person.

As soon as the price changes, run like hell. It wouldn't change three times. ._.

42m for taxes? You'd need a 20% tax for that to work out. ._. I thought the taxes didn't exceed 5%. (Which I thought was at 100m+)

To add on to Hazzy, most sellers don't charge extra because of tax. Tax is on the seller's end of the deal.

The guild I used made a shop with 50 of these arrows for 999k to make minimal tax losses. 42 mil for tax? Bullshit.

Any time you are going to be dealing with a group of people killing a monster to complete a transaction, you should look into it. Find out if anyone has ever had any problems, try to contact a good 5-10 credible people who have been successfully helmed, and make sure they have a good attitude.

I would never just smega out of the blue like that. :/ I think you got scammed, ESPECIALLY when the price changes like that.

Yes, you got scammed. Tongue

Buy from trusted people. And make sure YOU trust them, don't use the trust of someone else. They might be in on it too.

I've heard of ngamecube, but never associated with Konoha.

why not just buy from known guilds? reputation speaks for itself, and buying from known guilds is 99% scam proof.

I thought Konoha was well-known guild because iv seen it in some places, but GotchaHoe explained that they arent really well-known and that they have been known to scam. I should have posted if Konoha is a good guild but i didnt want to loose the people i smegaed. Oh well, ill figure out something. Before that though, il wait to see if there is a run tomorrow.

Thats what I tried but like I said there were full and sometimes didnt even contact back, so i grew too desperate to get one. I should have waited in the FM for more well-known guilds. :f7

Yes, sadly, that is the key. When you are desperate, the sellers (or scammers) have the advantage. It looks like you have learned that patience pays off. Hopefully other readers can learn from this, as well.

The big helm-selling guilds may not always be instantly reachable, but usually they have people you can PM, either here or on SW, to arrange the sale within a few days. I've had good results with two of them (in Khaini), and would never try to get a helm by spamming "B> Zhelm" in the FM or using a megaphone.

I hope it somehow works out for you, but I am afraid your mesos are gone. (I agree with those folks who pointed out some warning signs: Price changing, too cheap, unable to verify who people are, etc.)
