Nexon Legal Action Donation Drive
#1
For any of you interested in having a dissection of the various court cases Nexon has going at the moment, if you donate towards purchasing the court records I'll happily post analysis/commentary and the documents themselves for everyone to go over.

(Related conversation here )

There are were 2 active cases against different cheating websites with a bunch of documents out there including at least one rebuttal.

Now there's also a suit against Nexon for patent infringement if anyone is curious.

So if you feel curious enough and have the spare change rattling around, donate and request. I'll aim for the ones most likely to have actual useful information first ( like the 19 page Amended Answer to Complaint and the 6 page Declaration of Marc E. Mayer In Support of Request To Enter Default Against Defendant).

Granted you could just buy them and share, but it's a lot less chaotic if one person does the buying so we don't end up wasting 6 copies of the same thing. Chin

Current Donations:$295.00
Current Expense:$327.63
Remaining Balance:-$32.63

May I ask, why do they sell these?
Aren't they public domain?

They're public domain, but the court charges a filing fee to access them even if you do a FOI request on them.
Accessing them via the electronically PACER system directly is 10 cents a page with search results counting as a page even if they're blank.

Sites like the above charge a fee for having to pay for their own access and make a profit by reselling the same reports multiple times even though they only had to pay once. in return you don't have to pay just to search and read a synopsis.

How much do we need?

Variable. One case is ~32 dollars at the moment, the other is > 50 if we did them entirely, but each piece is individual and more pieces are being added still since it's live, so depending on how much gets raised we'll pick and mix the choicer bits first and then try to flesh it out more if we can.

Basically we'll work with whatever we can get to find out as much as we can.

Jesus, 320 pages? I was assuming they'd be like... 10 at most.

Oh it's less than 300 pages, the site charges a markup for organizing and collating everything. I think collectively they're about 50 pages each at most (keep in mind amended documents are duplicates).

This way you get Karma too;

Or if you really don't want the points and/or want a specific odd value you can just paypal a random donation to eos @ here.

Yeah, forgot about the market. I don't use Paypal, but I'd been meaning to get some eBooks for my upcoming deployment, so I'll do that.

Is it enough for both documents though? Cus of tax season my "fun money" box is inflating, so I can throw a bit more if necessary. Although I don't know what to do with all these donor points LOL

I think the 75 we have may cover everything, plus give us enough left over to get some new stuff when it comes in.

Ok, 17 documents and ~60.00 later, going to go through, organize, and summarize, upload and link.
It's sad to think we just paid $60.00 for a mere 7 mb of data, let's hope it has good entertainment value! Chin

Starting with Cornwall.
