ADS+PB vs. Spamming PB
#1
I've noticed some KMS videos of DBS using a combination of Advanced dark sight and phantom blow as opposed to spamming phantom blow( attacks in ADS gain a 10% damage boost). Has anyone done the math to find out which is better dpm?

I've only seen one KMS vid of a DB using ads+phantom plow, the rest just spam phantom blow.

I'm sure, as with all server sided skills, that this depends largely on your connection. If you can maintain the spam without adding any significant delay I can't imagine it would hurt your damage. Same with battle mages and the FB>tele up> finisher>up repeat. On a latency free day it certainly improves your damage (while it can be a total peach doing it right.) Bottom line is that no formula is going to be truly accurate thanks to varying pings. In all honesty though, most people will just spam PB. This is due to the marginal increase in damage not weighing out over the ease of just holding down one button.

*edit* Might add that South Korea has one of the fastest if not the fastest average internet speed in the world. Being a small country there's alot less distance for data to travel also. This will greatly effect skills like ADS. I imagine Koreans have little to no latency with the kMS servers, and probably benefit a bit more from this combo.

If you can somehow manage a perfect macro that executes Dark Sight every time it wears off, and execute Dark Sight at its fastest 120ms, and not have Fast (2) attack speed, you'll be 1.006x stronger than someone who doesn't do this.

Hmm, seems pretty pointless then to go through all that effort for 0.6% extra damage
Guess spammings your best bet

Makes your damage look higher Smile Seems to be the only real benefit. I'd like to see someone pull off that delay too.

I can do it with a macro program (execute it perfectly), and lag is rarely an issue for me unless its like 2x, however, does it really do more damage? It seems alot slower.

Does that extra 10% really do just 0.06% more damage then the speed of spamming PB?

Min-Maxers only benefit from this, then again, Min-maxing in a game like Maple is literally 100% impossible.

This should be correct. Using macros because manually executing Dark Sight every time it wears off is virtually impossible. I wouldn't deliberately take advantage of ADS because of Dark Sight's internet latency issues anyway.

An (A)DS + PB macro would always be inferior to damage in comparison to just spamming PB.

An (A)DS + PB*2 macro, to take advantage of the 49% chance to stay in Dark Sight, would be overall 0.75% stronger than just spamming PB.

Notes:

- ADS also makes your Mirror Image hits do 0.77x instead of 0.7x, when the 10% damage bonus is applied.
- I didn't take into account the "Dark Sight Trigger Chance: 20%", which only procs when getting hit. It should work in spamming PB's favour.
- Spamming PB also has other advantages like constant KB?

In conclusion, going out of your way to take advantage of ADS isn't worth it.

To look at things from the opposite perspective, this shouldn't do anything to hurt your damage significantly, so if you like it, go nuts.

You realise that it's practically impossible to Dark Sight at 120ms consistently?

with a macro does it really matter much?
