Error code 38 on entering cash shop
#1
Describe the problem. Be as specific as possible!:

Every time I try to enter cash shop on one of my characters, the MapleStory client exits and the message "Error code: 38" appears on the screen. eTracer pops up but fails trying to send its report to Nexon. This is on a computer running Windows XP Home Edition.

On another computer, running Windows XP Pro, the client closes but the message and eTracer do not appear. Instead, I must terminate MapleStory.exe from the Task Manager.

Other characters on the same account can enter cash shop just fine, on both computers.
This character used to be able to do so too, until about 23 hours ago.

Me and a friend are having the same problem. The only reasoning that I thought of that makes sense is we tried to enter the cash shop when the sales switched, so "we're stuck in limbo". iirc, error 38 is EOF [end of file] meaning we're stuck in a coding error and need a server check to fix us.

I got this on my paladin earlier. I just switched to a different character and it worked fine. Although the error might be a chance of happening, since I didn't get the error at all yesterday.

Create another character if you want to take advantage of the sales by transferring through cash shop after the next s/c?

unless they put inventory expansions on sale...

But what is really bothering me is not the sale, it's that I can't get a 2x card so I can 4x on this weekend's 2x exp events.

I can understand being "Stuck in limbo", but when I got this error, I just restarted Maple and logged back on my Pally.
Honestly, it's the first time I've gotten it since the BF sales started and my sister and I have always entered the CS the second the hour hit for the sales change.
I probably just got unlucky or something.

Yea, i can log back on just fine. I just can't enter CS without DCing. I'm assuming it stored data or something from when we last entered, and since that part "is in limbo" and doesn't exist, it gives us error 38 [end of file]

For non-programmers, a way to understand EOF is basically when the code ends. In a game like this, the game technically never ends, as the coding is supposed to loop back to something else.

Exact same problem for me, except I'm running Win7 - Home.

Alright, I get it now. I can't get back into the CS on my Pally now without EoFing to desktop. Now it makes sense as to why a SC is the only way to fix us. Good thing there isn't anything major going on lol

To update on my previous post: My Paladin can no longer enter CS without getting that error. It's a good thing I can do it on my alternate characters. =x

My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit if y'all are wondering.

This error seems to be attached to the mains of the account. Same problem is happening to me. But only the mains of two of my accts is having that issue. My partner Jay (Pendal) is having the same problem with his main. He did a test and switched his main on Nexon's website just to see what it would do but hasn't had a chance (at work) to see if it worked.

I'm on windows 7 and he's on Vista

Tried this, did not work. My main is the glitched one, and the same goes for my wife.

I started getting this error on my main yesterday during the sales too, and this explanation would definitely make sense considering I was waiting on Black Friday sales.

I can log into the Cash Shop just fine on any other character on my account.

I don't have a main set on Nexon's website.

The reason it's associated with mains seems simple enough, if it's the sales causing it. Naturally everyone does the Black Friday sale on their main, if they can.

I've had this problem as well, and I run XP Pro, if that matters. For me, it happened when I dc'd (alt-tabbed, net crashed, alt-tabbed back in) and tried entering cash shop, and it didnt work afterwards.

My main isn't (never has been) the character on the MS website, but it's the one that can't get into the cash shop. I viewed the sales on Friday, only bought one of the 20% off permanent items though (nothing on sale), and I assume that's what's causing the issue now.

eTracer won't send reports containing double quotes (") either, lol.
