Meso Issue & Resolution

Dear Maplers,

As many of you know by now, there was an exploitable bug in MapleStory that resulted in large sums of mesos generated and introduced into the Maple World economy. After much internal debate, we have made the difficult decision to restore all MapleStory servers to 3PM Pacific (6PM Eastern), Monday, November 8. This drastic measure ensures that the exploit does not have lasting negative impact on all of our players by raising the cost of items beyond what most players can afford to pay for them. We know that players are disappointed to lose the efforts they’ve put into the game during the last day, and we will do our best to ease the change by offering various compensation and 2x events. Compensation and event details will be presented within the next 24 hours.

In the meantime, we will also take action against any exploiters who used this malicious exploit. Any NX spent during the impacted time will be refunded through Maple Points and Cash items after the restore point will be extended by 48 hours.

The game will reopen with the rollback in effect at 10:00 AM Pacific (1:00 PM Eastern) on Wednesday November 10. We greatly apologize to our players and ultimately, we feel this is the best resolution to ensure the long term health of MapleStory.

Expected, sort of. Sadly, I don't think that's far enough, because I think I recall this exploit happening before that time, but it's better than no rollback at all. :\

3PM doesn't seem early enough for me, but at least something was done. Good job Nexon.

Oh Crap, I didnt want this.

Oh well I'll have to see what I'm missing as I cant remember everything I did after that time. I know I'll lose like a dozen Zombie Rings and some quests I spent ages doing.

Hopefully by this they just mean the who used the hack and not the people who had stuff bought with the fake mesos. I am not sure how I feel about those people who purposely sold stuff for super high prices expecting a rollback.

Wonder what they're gonna do as far as compensation goes. All they mention is x2 events and "Various" compensations.

30 hours since this topic hit Southperry (a.k.a the public scare).

Screw hackers.

I sense a pattern here: quit the game or take it REALLY easy whenever meso exploits come out because you should always expect a rollback. Losing progress is always a pain in the ass so why not avoid risking a loss altogether?

Don't keep up too much with Maple news, but I was under the impression that it was made public around that time, but existed before that. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

If that's the case, then this is a pretty nice idea. It narrows down the suspects, only rolls back 1 day, and will get a decent chunk of the exploited mesos out of the economy.
