Despite there being some minor grammatical errors, such as some minor typos with the game, the game is pretty fun. I first approached this game as a "Ah, must just be another one of those Tactics games I've played, probably gets boring."
Man, was I wrong. Before I played this game, I made sure that I did not read any reviews from any other gaming websites, as they are completely biased at times. I played this game just as a casual gamer, and I slowly got into it as the game progresses on.
The story was decently developed, but it wasn't perfect. The ending was a tad awkward, and left the player wanting more. Even after beating the final boss of the game (on Adell's story), you still have a feeling of unaccomplishment. Why, you ask? It's not about levels either, but there's so many things to explore in this game. The amount of different types of classes makes this game really enjoyable, especially with so many choices of weapons, you can have a Priest equip a SWORD, for God's sakes!
The characters slowly develops as well, and as far as how funny the story is, I'd have to give this game a complete THUMBS UP for the character's personality. I totally adore Etna, Flonne, and Laharl (all characters from the FIRST Disgaea game), because of Disgaea 2, I recently sought out the 1st game, and want to beat that!
With a level cap of 9,999 , there's plenty to do in Disgaea. Even after beating the game, in Axel's Storymode, you can learn how to Magichange (turning a monster-character into a weapon during the midst of battle, though it only lasts a couple rounds/turns).
When I had a GBA, I played Onimusha Tactics. I loved that game, but when I played Disgaea, I thought Tactical games were some of the best RPGs out there. I like to use my brain to solve puzzles, and strategize, so this game was perfect. The only flaw of the game is that the characters all looks rather chibi and loli, though I'm sure some users here will completely enjoy that. The character's personalities will keep you wanting to progress through the story more. Characters such as Etna and Laharl made this game fun, for me.
There's so many things to do, even after you beat ONE part of the storyline. Overall, I give this game a 9/10, due to it's complexity and lasting-impression even after you beat the storyline with Adell. Some flaws were that, I personally felt the story was too short. But there are also downloadable characters via PSN, etc. This game is a fun game for all ages, and I'd recommend it to gamers out there that enjoys a good grind, and hilarious characters.
