Holy Symbol
#1
Any other priestess/priest/bishop think Holy Symbol is annoying? The thing that pisses me off is having to wait a few seconds just so you can move, I know you can teleport, but even that takes a few seconds. It should be like bless, where you can move around while the skill is finishing off. It's also a pain at Himes, I probably pot while it's still finishing off because I get hit and can't move away. Its just like shadow partner for hermits and probably more skills, I think it's somewhat a good thing forcing you to think before you buff...

I've never really thought of it as 'annoying' before I read this, but I can see your point. Not being able to move while it's being cast is a bit on the lame side, though I'm used to not being able to do that since Shadow Partner is the same kind of thing.

I don't find it too annoying, but after 60 levels of using it, you really do get used to it.

At himes, you just have to cast hs when there aren't any monsters around you. Back when I trained there, I would cast hs without magic guard and just teleport to avoid the monsters. as long as they aren't trying to kill you, then its not too hard to avoid them.

Another thing you might not have noticed is that the time hs take before you can moved is much shorter if you cast it on a rope/ladder. So depending on what map you are on, it might be worth casting on the rope simply for the increased safety of being able to move (and heal yourself) much sooner than if you had cast it while standing.

I got used to it, so I don't find it annoying. Well, it's same with booster for mages. It takes a few seconds while casting it. I usually cast those skills on a rope/ladder when I'm near one.

I find it slightly annoying, since MW also stuns a little, and I cast them both at the same time, usually. Fortunately there are plenty of ropes at newties and skeles, so most of the time I can avoid being stunned. At himes though, I recall just mobbing them and teleporting away from the entire mob.

At Himes---
If you are partying you should be doing LURE-
So just Mob and HS each "round" of Himes.
...
Solo.
Lure em left Lure em right shake em and HS.

HS is the equivalent of booster. Ask any mage if they like booster's cast time. LoLz.

Tongue After hime'ing for some 10 levels, you won't even need to pot during a HS at all. Eventually, you'll find that no matter who you train with, you'll find these convenient gaps to teleport. You'll notice animation patterns of himes when they pause, and when they'll move. So if you watch and time yourself correctly, you'll be able to move around and take a minimal of 2 hits all the way across the screen when luring. I know it sounds so complicated and time consuming to learn, but its not really, it took me showing my friends once or twice before they catch my drift. :[ It's too bad I dont have access to a mardia bishop anymore.

Anyway, as many have said above, eventually, you'll get used to HS's little delay and not even notice it till you gotta cast two delay-type skills: Maple warrior + HS. If I remember correctly, theives have shadow partner that also does this delay as well. I am not too sure about other classes.

This is true, but HS does take significantly longer than Booster. That is, unless I'm just more used to Boosters length that is seems shorter?[/COLOR]

I don't think booster's any shorter, not if you cast it standing. Explosion's got a pretty annoying delay also, especially if you're not using an EW. I think HS is maybe more noticeable if you have to go HS all your party all over the map, whereas Booster's just a self-skill.

I find it anoying as well. But you can move right away if you cast on a rope or ladder. Also you can tele right away if you cast on the ground (which doesn't make any since, but it's better than nothing).

I look at it this way. Would you rather have +20 wep def, mag def, acc, avoid, etc. or have 150% exp? I'd choose the latter and not complain about it xP

Im not used to using a bishop/priest (I only do it at pap/zak/fish and occasionally himes) and I usually have to pot as Im not pro enough to tele away properly but I dont mind it. Its a small sacrifice for a lot of extra exp.

That would be my response too. Priests/bishops tend to forget they can pot through the hs lag if they have to cast when in a mob of monsters....this also works well when ur crammed against the right wall 2 cm away from horntail's crashing tail! Excellent

Potting hp is something we tend to think of as a waste because of heal, but in certain circumstances it can make our lives a lot easier! Hsing is one of them.

Haha, it's easy, just hit Holy Symbol when ever you need and have some hp pots bound (Barbarian Elixers - 1.5K HP) and if they hit you while you're stunned just hit a pot, then hold heal til you are un-stunned.

Y'know, I get laughed at when I suggest this. One of my friend priests that I pretty much guided through first laughed at the idea. Now he's stuck to carrying those around as well. It was certainly a big help to him to have something else to guarantee his life when he hasn't gotten the hang of SR-Heal attack technique. Nothing wrong with having a backup plan to save ur ass be it 'cause you did something dumb or you're in an emergency situation.

I seriously duno why everyone thinks its nooby or dumb or even something hilarious to carry hp pots around. =\

people wont understand till you play a priest/bishop.

before my bishop, i had an archmage. i used to wonder also why my priest frnds carry hp pots. durrr you can heal right?

then after i made my own char, i realized there are sum situations where hp pots saves lives =x (ahem.. STUNNNNN! i hate stun when my mg is off lolz..)
