The "lesser of two evils" (MS Server Checks xD)
#1
We've all seen it and many of us have complained about it: Maple Story Patches/Server Checks and the times they list.

I know there's the rare time it didnt, but MOST of the time, the server check/patch will get extended, leaving A LOT of maplers pissed.

However, sometimes, nexon does it differently (most recently yesterday): They actually finish on time, then realize its not completely fixed and schedule another one quite a short amount of time after the first one (Yesterday had a 30 minute check, then another check that was scheduled for 30 minutes a bit over an hour later).

In a perfect world, we'd wish for them to finish on time with no extra ones after it (or even not to have them at all!) but if you had to choose, which one would you prefer?

I'd personally prefer the first as its kinda sad seeing my friend trying to solo pap after the first SC just to have the 2nd one cut her off, making her waste a lot of time and pots for nothing =X

The first -_-. Better yet, have Nexon predict longer than they would probably do it and end it earlier.

I chose "I dont ms enough for it to affect me" because I am usually busy during server checks.

You also have to remember how complex the system of this game is.

id actually rather have them just say a time thats 2 hours longer than when they think its going to be done. Just in case.

I voted for the first.

Umm, if they were to say a time longer than they expect, and they'd always end early... Don't you think people will start getting mad? o.O They'll be like:

"Well, I wanted to get a FM spot, but you opened 2 hours early!! omg!!". Lol.

I'd rather they write a reasonable time, including a backup in case it runs longer... which is what they're already doing.

Ultimatley, if they didn't extended SC/Patch, you'd just be getting EVEN buggier versions. Trust me, they'd rather not extened - every minute is a loss of their money... but they also don't want to release an unstable client.

Overall, Nexon won't be getting better with deadlines as time goes on.. live with it. It's nearly impossible to assume all the technical difficulties that can occur. The only server checks that you should *expect* to finish *relativley* on time are the ones that are scheduled, for CS items + world/ign changes.

Server checks and Patches Extensions Times dont bother me at all

instead of sitting at your desk and complaining about extensions, go outside and go do something productive.

It's much better to get it done the first time instead of bringing it down multiple times. I'd rather get extensions since it's pointless to play then bring it down again.

They are a bunch of dumb fucking twats.

I absolutely cannot understand their mentality among many things, but primarily this. For example, I'll use the time in which they delayed it by one whole day -- STOP, I know complaining about that is taboo but it's not what I'm expanding on:

When they hourly gave us their epiphany (HAHA more like lack thereof) as to how much longer it'll take their dumb asses to fix the problem(s), why in the blue hell must they update us hourly?

I mean, they'd have been working on the problem(s) prior to their half-assed notice updates, so it's no different from anything innate like sleeping to know how much longer it will probably take to fall asleep, so why in the updates do they repeatedly insist it'll be only one more fucking hour all the time even though they know it won't be? If you're going to manage a game of this magnitude, then yeah it's inevitable that problems are sure to arise -- fine, I get it -- but why are they making it our problem?

Nothing is stopping those porch monkeys to alter the hourly interval they make us wait until another update comes, so why can't they just update it with honesty and say that it might indeed be (this much) longer, instead? If they say it'll be just an hour's time more, then it will result in people who got their hopes up high to waste time when in turn they could be doing things that take over the said one hour to finish.

God damn it, Nexon.

i prefer they finish on time and that's it...
if they cant handle the time they set, so they should just make it longer.
like, if they think it'll take 1 hour, so they should write it takes 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Whenever there are patches/server checks, I'm always doing something else & I'm not on as often as before.

Your one of the people that make me laugh.

Nexon can't just go "OMG THE PATCH WONT WORK LETS DELAY 50+ HOURS PRIOR TO THE PROBLEM JUST TO MAKE PEOPLE hAPPY LOLOLOLOL1!"

The 2nd one was only 10 minutes...
Anyways I'd prefer extensions due to me just trying to get fm 1 spots every time.

The time they put up was 30 minutes. I logged on 6 minutes early and saw this dk going through zmm channels (I logged in on 11) so it'd make sense: He got through 10 channels walking before my FJ so he's been doing it for a while, meaning it ended quite early xD

I didnt actually know how long it lasted but they said 30 in their announcement so... yeah D: *goes to fix it in my opening*

I -personally- dun care, but I do somewhat care because I get some epic lulz out of the people going crazy just waiting for them to say it's been extended.
I can understand the frustration, but once you're over the addiction, you realize you were just making it hard on yourself. x:

[COLOR="Magenta"][SIZE="2"]My personal opinion - If you're going to close the game and fix the bugs then, fix it all in one go. Giving server checks after server checks can be seriously annoying, especially for those who are actually camping for a FM1 spot.

I mean sure, fixing 69 different kinds of bugs within 3 hours would be ambitious but to make things much easier to everyone, they should announce the the maximum amount of time they need to fix the bugs, and keep the game closed until the desired time has is reached (And I don't think Nexon will pull this - they would always put the game up early if it's fixed early but I mean that's understandable though.) You wouldn't want to get back home at 5PM in the afternoon and see that the patch/server check had been extended for another three hours - rather have the game to be up by then after a long day!

I seriously do not mind having long periods of server checks as long as all the bugs are fixed (or majority) but this is unfortunately is an ideal world.
