Issue/Problem/Bug:
Weapon defense for both players and monsters is capped at 1999, but 5 monsters in the game have more than that, which is.. kind of conflicting
Describe the problem. Be as specific as possible!:
BGA, BGB, Grandpa, Anego, Hsalf have 3600, 3100, 5000, 3000, 8000 wdef respectively, but act as if they only have 1999.
(I'd rofl if they actually intended to fix this.. would make Crimson PQ significantly harder for weapon-powered parties, which is pretty much everyone)

whoops. My bad, switched Anego and Grandpa. It's not so bad, 'only' 1000 less defense; still limited by spawn more than anything I would think. I suppose it would screw up best times and such a little though.

On the other hand it'll make Corsairs the ideal DPS at Hsalf as well, since Cannon is so stable and strong.

Sacrifice for me, unappled, at 148, with SE, = 68.5k max hit, with a DPS polearm With a DPH, it'd be about 10-15% more (75k). With apple, it'd probably break 100k. Probably be breaking 70ks normally with just apple. Not bad when everyone else is doing 5-10k. Max unappled, un-SE'd = 45k or so.

That doesn't matter though, because that much def decreases your range so low that it won't matter what your range is or how much damage you do. If anything it'll make MEing, assaultering, magic, shadow meso, and any other attack that ignores w.def that much more useful.

Or because they didn't anticipate the fact that monsters with more than 1999 weapon defense would be required.

Hsalf having 8k def. would actually give the oringinal strategy a use- While most people deal with Margana, the mages start fighting Hsalf. Once Margana is down, the other two bosses are dealt with. Once those two are down, everyone deals with what's left of Hsalf.

Extremely high wdef also benefits the classes with more base atk, unlike Apples. My paladin has a near 7000 effective base max, while my Hermit is only around 3800. (both with skills active, since neither class's displayed range is what the game calculates from). With apples those go to 11000 and 6000, meaning the Hermit still loses 2/3 of the damage and the Paladin loses about 1/3.

The fact that various versions tried to make monsters with over 1999 def and failed to realize that it just dumps everything past that number proves there shouldn't even be a cap in the first place.
The above statement pokes such a big hole in devils logic it's ridiculous.

Then again I suppose since there aren't any 2000+ defense monsters in KMS, and they're most likely the ones that instated the cap, other versions couldn't do anything about it even if they wanted to. And that would explain why they apparently didn't even know it existed.

My reasoning: 2000+ defense is way too pineappleing high. The original designers knew this and implemented a cap. Local versions, in keeping with their tradition of not knowing what the hell they're doing, made monsters with ridiculous defense values and forgot about the cap.
@Stereo: *scratches head* Pretty sure a good archmage would output more damage than even a warrior if Hsalf actually had 8k defense. Maybe not with Apples, but you don't always use Apples, do you? Or at least I don't. I've only used 2 Apples on Zakum once and never on any other boss. They're really not necessary for most bosses.
