AUSSIE COPPERS are worried about a fad which involves teens taking explicit photo of themselves and forwarding them to mates or love interests.

Detective Sergeant Campbell Davis, of the Victoria Police internet child exploitation team said that sexting rates were already too high.

He said girls were especially targeted, and 3G technology was making the problem worse.

Under Aussie law any image that depicts a minor in a sexual activity or indecent manner is considered child pornography but kids of today do not seem to really care.

A survey by Girlfriend magazine found that four in 10 readers had been asked to forward a nude snap.

The Sydney Morning Herald hit the streets to find out common sexting was in Melbourne. Hacks found three 15-year-old girls who said they enjoyed the positive reaction sexting creates.

Two blokes they chatted to said the they often received and sent images.

So that's a trend then.

New trend, or same old thing, but with new technology? Back when I was 15, I don't recall for girls to send naked pix being considered cool or a common thing to do. >.>

Hmm, not to be mean but.. those girls seem rather slutty to me. Even if you are 15 and believe you're "in love" (lolololz), it's still a pretty stupid and careless decision to make. Kids today just need to use their brains more.

People are insane, they do anything for attention nowadays.

It's a shame that girls are becoming sluts earlier and earlier. It almost reminds me of the 15 yr old girls that were getting pregnant together.

On Topic: it really is pitiable the state of the world today, and i swear just looking around at it and thinking about it is enough to depress you if you let it.

You all sound pretty shocked, but just so you know this article pretty much sums it up and is completely accurate. A fair few girls at my school (I live in Australia) have done this. I wouldn't say 4/10 people...but there's been a few.

One girl had a video which she sent to her boyfriend of her doing...stuff...in a shower. That video was spread around my entire school within 24 hours, and within a week hundreds of people from all over different schools had seen the video. Think that's bad? Matters got worse. Since she was under 18 during this time, police luanched a full investigation, attempting to prosecute certain people on child pornography charges etc. Nobody was prosecuted in the end, though.

The story is MUCH bigger than that, but basically...pomegranate hit the fan, and many people regard her as a gigantic dirty slut now. It's a pity...


Oh, and the video wasn't hot. At all.

Wow...there were some American schools that had issues with pictures being forwarded to more than half the students...sexting...lol...silly kids...

As for the people frowning at the girls or saying this is sad, this isn't to random people, but usually boyfriends/girlfriends, people that, as teens, they are likely to be having sex with anyway. There is nothing wrong with intimate pictures between lovers (unless you disagree with 15 year olds having sex - my opinion is that they are mature enough to have kids for a reason, but I'm not going to date, let alone sleep with, anyone more than a year or so younger than me atm).
