MapleStory is a constantly evolving game, full of heroes, villains, and everything in between. But none of them are as important to us as you, our players who make Maple World what it is! The history of MapleStory is a long and winding one, but now we'd like to turn the attention to you, and hear more about your own journeys that you've taken as MapleStory has grown over the years. The question we'd like to ask you all is: What's Your MapleStory? If you'd like to submit your story, you can do so via

For today's edition of What's Your MapleStory, we spoke to
Vanakin about their journey through MapleStory!
How were you first introduced to MapleStory?
My name is Van, in-game name: vanakin. I currently play in the Heroic World of Reboot. I started playing MapleStory at an early age because all of my cousins were into it and it was a fun way to spend time with them. I came back to MapleStory about 3 years ago, roughly when the Covid epidemic started because I saw a friend was playing on discord, so I redownloaded the game for nostalgia. My friend was able to help me get back to where I left off and at some point we were actively contributing to bosses together, duoing and trading. It was fun and along the way we met more friends and our community grew. We were able to grow to the point where we were struggling LuWill to clearing Black Mage and liberating.
What is your favorite memory while playing MapleStory?
My earliest memories of MapleStory was making a dexless sin in Khani, running the Kerning Party Quests with my cousins, and getting trapped in Orbis because I couldn't afford the boarding pass to get back to Victoria Island.
Which class do you main and what in particular do you like about it?
I started off as a Night Lord and got to level 200, and it was fun. I remember thinking to myself, "Wow, I got to level 200." Later on that friend noticed I was playing more consistently and reached out to me to help me with some new content like bosses and vmatrix. It was a bit confusing and hard to understand, but its nice to have friends to rely on. A little bit later the Cygnus Knights revamp was released and I was watching the changes to Night Walker and I loved every bit of it, from throwing stars faster, more clones, bats and even more stars! That is when I decided to switch mains to a Night Walker.
What do you enjoy most about MapleStory today?
I was able to make more friends from different parts of the world and they all hold a special part in my Maplestory. I'm always reminded of my friend who helped me start Maplestory and now I love meeting and helping new friends. Helping them with their VMatrix, learning their bursts, learning bosses together, and having fun over small things. Lastly and most importantly I want to thank everyone for being a part of my MapleStory.
