Because the rest of it is either just kind of there, or it is like you didn't know what to do. I'm not even sure if that's grazing the head up there or not (it probably is), and I'm still deciding whether that's a shoulder or not. Proportions and all that. Though if there is a stock photo behind this painting, then I must have missed that xD

Heres the original I used.



As you can see, the cropping was a bit awkward for the overall look of the proportions.

As for the painting, it was really a straight forward midtone to lighttone.

All in the power of perspective xD Would have helped my imagination greatly if that ear was in the piece to begin with. I didn't think the head was actually tilting to the left at the time.

I think there is an updated image where it has the ear in it. I placed it wrong and it made the head look really huge. After than, I painted over it and it looked fine without the ear.

I probably should have cropped better. Or made a slightly bigger canvas and done more of the back into the painting.


Next project is magic realism...Not sure what I want to do for it.
